Didn't he get caught by Phoebe Cates?

Hardly the appropriate Judge for the instant case.

(I'm at work so no, I'm not posting pics or a video).

I hear the NY Yankees have a Judge on the payroll. Maybe he could render an opinion.

I'm glad Sue is taking her time. She'll figure it out. My guess is she's writing a report with a solid recommendation backed up with support that will leave RoGo will nothing else to do but accept it in full - which I suspect is exactly what he wants.

Phoebe Cates reference is so next level, I am so mad I didnt think of that. :chuckle:

Can you describe their personalities? Serious question here.

Like, are they hardasses? Dry, boring ass people? Vindictive? Etc. please elaborate. I don’t know any judges.

Their personalities can actually vary quite widely. I recall one intimidating as hell federal judge in Cleveland who had a poster of Patton right behind his desk, and acted like it. Dude was terrifying if you got on his wrong side. I was in his chambers one time for a conference with opposing counsel, and the guy made the mistake of looking at his watch while the judge was talking. It took 3 custodians to scrape that guy off the floor when the judge was done with him. Anyone here who ever practiced in front of the guy knows exactly who I mean.

But others can actually be rather nice and considerate. Judge Nugent in Cleveland, for example, rescheduled trial for me once when my dad went in the hospital out of state. I saw him a couple of months later at some event, and he came right up to me and asked me if my dad was doing okay. Great judge and great person.

That being said, I never met one who was tolerant of lawyers trying to hurry them along. That never played well with any of them. You might get an inexperienced state court judge who might act kind of sheepish when something was dragging on, but the federal ones would never give you that.

I think because judges are in positions of such power, it’s easy to forget they are human. I know that sounds silly. I sometimes wonder whether they like that or not. Never asked.

I do know that the ones I mentioned that are around my age and the woman in her 50s are good people and I’d be surprised if that aspect of the whole thing appealed to them. I’ve known all of them before they were judges and they haven’t changed that I’ve observed since working their way into the position.

The older ones I really just don’t know that much about aside from what my wife tells me and having dinner with them a few times.

I do agree the personalities vary a lot, just like all other people. I still wonder whether they sense that level of separation from other people and what they think about it.

The terrifying federal judge in Cleveland was a good person away from the courtroom and did a lot of charitable stuff. He just ran his courtroom like Patton's Third Army.

I doubt the NFL wants to deal with this news before the HOF game. I’ll guess next Friday

They vary so much. I had a hearing I was supposed to attend, but I got caught up in my college work and forgot about it. I was freaking out. So I went in the next day without an appointment and talked to one of his clerks. He just rescheduled it.

A judge in the same court got upset when my dad did not stand when the judge walked in for the trial. He was quite petty and felt like he hated everyone's existence.

I guess that "red zone" metaphor needs to find another stage...penalties pushed them out of field goal range, maybe?

Positions of high responsibility require often come with behavioral expectations. Sometimes people ascribe behavior in a role to the personality outside the role, which may or may not be accurate. Same with actors, for example Andrew Robinson got hate mail because he played a serial killer. He fought well, for a tailor.

Reported 6 games
BREAKING: Judge Sue L. Robinson has issued a ruling that #Browns QB Deshaun Watson should be suspended 6 games for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy, per multiple reports.

My original prediction was 8 games, BUT looking at the schedule, the Browns play the Bengals for MNF on Halloween in week 8. The ratings that Deshaun would bring the NFL in that game are far too high pass up.

So I'll change my prediction to 6, so that its an even number and so that it's not quite as obvious what they are attempting to do by making it one week before.

What took you so long Sue? The Honorable Judge B Mac would have had this one settled back in June.
