Should I start talking myself into Jacoby Brissett? I can do it. I’ve talked myself into worse quarterbacks I am sure.
I already bet a Baker Bro, that Jacoby Brissett would have a better QBR assuming he starts week 1 than Baker has, assuming he starts week 1.
I did this more for pinning this Baker Bro against the Browns in support of Baker than actually caring if I win the bet or not…

Hedge yourself and bet Mayfield to win comeback player of the year.

Could Brissett play better than Mayfield’s 2021 season? Yes….I think best option is Jacoby having the same stats as Mayfield and calling it almost a wash. The Browns “breaking even” on this debacle

My opinion on suspension length aside, it appears many are missing the point of the "code of conduct" enforcement. The appointment of a former federal judge isn't helping that, either. I don't think a suspension will be based on the *legality* of the case, but how much this situation has "stained the shield." If it was based on legality, it would wait until the cases were resolved. If it was based on legality, you wouldn't hear rumors of "indefinite" and "multiple years" or "harsh" suspensions being sought by the NFL. According to the law, Deshaun Watson isn't a criminal (no bill issued and zero charges against him). So...what does the "stained shield" mean? It's 10000% about the court of public opinion and, no matter the legal standing (right or wrong), Deshaun has already lost that horribly. Now, how does Robinson approach this is the question. Does she lead with legality or the stained shield argument? That's where I think we'll find our answers.

All this said, I think the NFL pushes for indefinite suspension, but would be happy with a calendar year. The NFLPA pushes for 0 games, but would be happy with 4 games. I think Robinson settles with 10 games (just off missing an accrued season). I do think both sides try to appeal that number, though and this ends up being 17 games (different than calendar year), with Watson and NFLPA suing the NFL, and the 10 games being upheld.

Realistically, Brissett is probably the third or fourth best QB we’ve had the past twenty years, and he’ll be stepping into by far the best situation since 99.
Eh... I don't think that's even close to true. If you count Watson, I think the argument is closer that Brissett is the fourth best QB we've had in the past year than in the past 20.

When he's had starting reins, the dude only manages to put up like 3,000 yards in a complete season. In the modern NFL, that's absolutely atrocious.

If you want to make a comp for him, it's going to be something like Jeff Garcia. Brissett will never push the ball downfield or attack a defense the way Holcomb or DA did. He'll limit turnovers, but if your offense can't move and score, does it matter?

I’m not counting Watson since he hasn’t actually played for us yet. On paper, he’s obviously the best since the return but Brissett will almost certainly take the field first.

A QB that doesn’t force the ball downfield and turn the ball over can be a great fit and have solid team success with our running attack. Hopefully we utilize that stud backfield and offensive line.

No matter how good your running attack is, you lose when the numbers are consistently against you.

We need someone to at least be a threat to beat a defense when they sell out for Chubb.

There's absolutely no way I'm talking myself into Brissett.

Yep. I'm just saying, I think there's more validity to saying that Baker, Keenum and Watson are all better than Brissett, than saying Brissett is one of the top QB's for this franchise since the return. He is, at best, around Jason Campbell level. I'd take Tyrod over him in a heartbeat, and Tyrod sucks.

Somewhere around Good Derek Anderson, Good Tim Couch (right at the 20-year timeframe,) Hoyer tier.

Stealing from reddit: indefinite suspension, reinstated after 1 year when they feel like the story has toned down and the league will say they're reinstating him because the NFLPA was adamant about it.

This won’t surprise me at all but I think reinstatement after 12 games. It’s what I am expecting.

I def can see this…

The NFL is gonna have a rough year or two b/t all these cases w/ Snyder, Watson, Ruggs III, and Chucky.
