WE GOT TELFAIR ! (and Jamison) (page 15)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Has anyone else thought about maybe bringing Jamison off the bench? We are the best team in the league in terms of first quarter differential. Maybe let JJ start, play 6-8 minutes, then bring in AV and Jamison (scoring and defense)?

Just a thought. I think maybe Jamison can be our 6th man off the bench to provide some scoring like Crawford does in Atlanta. Meanwhile, JJ still gets some development time, we don't screw up what we have going in the first quarters, and we can still play Jamison more minutes than JJ.

I thought about it, but the whole reason we brought Jamison in here was to play between LeBron and Shaq to spread the floor.

Starting will also make the transition for Jamison much easier because he will just play off of LeBron and Shaq instead of trying to be option A or B if he is coming off the bench.

Until Z gets back, I bet Jamison comes off the bench, that way we have someone to spread the floor with the second unit with Andy. Jamison will basically be taking some combo of Jawad and Z's role on the team for now. Once Z comes back, we move Jamison to the starting lineup, put Hickson at the end of the bench with Powe, and go win a title.

I dunno why I have to keep saying it but... you just don't start another player with few games left until playoffs start. There will be far too little time for AJ to acclimate to the starters if he waits til Z gets back! He is here to play when Shaq is on the floor... you think we needed a stretch 4 to pair with Z/AV off the bench? No! Why would he come off the bench during a time when Shaq (who we got our stretch 4 for) is going to the bench?

You are right about wanting him for the starting job, but I think it would not hurt to get him used to the system before starting him. I can see it both ways.

Ok, I don't know if this has been mentioned, BUT..

Does anyone else think Ferry was just using Phoenix as a way to get Washington to LOWER their demands for Antawn?

With Washington feeling Cleveland was close to a deal for Amar'e, they obviously wanted to cut salary.. With that said, they originally wanted J.J., but felt the need of shedding salary was more important than getting another piece, especially with all the cap room they're creating for themselves.

So, Ferry and Kerr dragged out the Amar'e talks with the constant release that the Cavs were the favorites... Seeing this, Washington dropped the demand for JJ and offered Jamison for Z.. Of course, they got the Clippers involved and managed to snag Al Thorton.

Maybe Ferry and Kerr agreed to drive UP the price of Amare, and drive DOWN the price of Jamison.

Wouldn't rule it out.

Interesting. I had no idea first and last names held such different values ..

He'd have a whole month in the starting lineup, no? And he'd be playing with Shaq and Lebron at other points in the game.

You have to look at the team as a whole, and Hickson/AV won't really work as well off the bench as Jamison/AV. You have to consider floor balance. Once Z comes back we're good.

haha go to bed dude

Too pissed/amped...at the same time.

loldeadline.

Next year we won't have this excitement at all, so we have to enjoy it while it lasts bro. Milk it!

We have Orl and Bos coming up... the reason we got AJ is b/c of what they pull on Shaq def... if Shaq gets off well he more often than not has a good game (i think he plays better first halfs really), why wouldn't you use AJ to give Shaq the chance to get off to a gd start one/one in the first Q? N/c if AJ comes off the bench during the first Shaq will be going to it! Staying with JJ to start takes away from what Shaq can do to get going from the start which is what AJ is here for. Yes we beat better teams w/ JJ starting but this is the time when teams go into overdrive... it's going to be tougher to get away with JJ playing with Shaq. I don't know what's going to happen but since we are abt to play some tougher opponents I'm thinking we go with the person we brought to help Shaq. It's better to dash JJs hopes now so he can learn that bench role to produce from there now than to wait til there are loads less games to play... he will now have plenty of time to figure his role off the bench (it's going to take a while I'm sure b/c his pride will be hurt) so he is better able to give us a lil something in the playoffs.

Sry 4 dbl post

I see and understand arguments for both sides of the question, however I just dont see a multiple year all star coming off the bench as an alternative to jj hickson.

JJ is the future Antawn is now. I would imagine he will start off the bat and be thrown into the fire so to say to accelerate his learning process. These next few years will be incredibly valuable to JJ learning from and being surrounded by so many outstanding players. When AJ is ready to retire will be right around the time that JJ is coming into his own.

A lot of young big are envious of JJ's position now. He needs to be sponge and just try to absorb as much from the vets as he can. I hope he develops that jump shot because there's always a place in this league for a big who can shoot.
