WE GOT TELFAIR ! (and Jamison) (page 15)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I heard on Fox8 that Jamison will be here for the game tnight. I wonder if he'll throw a jersey on for shits and giggles..

Great trade by Ferry. The guy is always looking for lopsided deals and he gets them. LOL

Obviously I do have my concerns for the future of the team. Also, Jamison's age and nagging injuries is of concern to me.

But, I think the positives outweight the negatives RIGHT NOW!! If everyone is healthy we have a great shot to win it all this year.

Lebron,

Let's get this taken care of. We have proven over the course of the last several years that we will bring in the talent you need. I've got the pocket book and a willingness to spend it. Go ahead and sign on the dotted line and let's get this done so we don't have to hear anymore from those idiots at ESPN. Thanks

Sincerly,
Dan Gilbert

For the love of all that is holy...PLEASE change the name of this thread..."We got TELFAIR!" ?? :wtf:

It's all about the Jamison! Telfair sucks.

I know it's a joke but it makes me want to stab my eye out.

Lets look at the last 9 seasons of his career:

He has played:

82
82
82
82
68
82
70
79
81

Why do people keep claiming he has an injury problem? In the last 9 years of his career, he has played at least 79 games 7 times and the most games he's missed in a season is 14. Sounds like a pretty durable player to me...

Dont' get too ahead of yourself. I like the move by Ferry, he has done a great job considering the assets he has had here.

The decision for Lebron to re-sign will be about winning multiple titles and where that can be accomplished. For that he will look at the core of a team.
Our aging front court has to be a concern.

Jamison just doesn't do stuff out on the court that would make him susceptible to injury.

I wasn't able to be on here when the trade went down last night. But I was reading through some of the posts on the Amare Safari thread and some of you are absolutely ridiculous. I know alot of people where caught up in Amare drama but 3 weeks ago everyone was hoping and praying we would get Jamison. How many of you that are ticked off were in Jamison thread three weeks ago praising his game and hoping against all hope we could somehow get Washington to trade him to us.

Well guess what...we got him...for essentially the 30th pick in the draft.

Just like Shaq and Mo, this is an absolute steal! Be happy.

The best team in the league just got even better for essentially nothing. We got to keep our developing PF and now we don't have to rely on him for huge playoff minutes if we don't want to and he now has time to develop his game and continue to grow.

Stop hating...Be happy...This was a great trade...Which is what Ferry does best.

That is all...

I didn't say he had an injury problem. I said he has nagging injuries. What I mean is the small shoulder sprains he's been suffering. Those type of small injuries worry me even if he doesn't miss alot of time. I think injuries like that hurt a players ability to perform on the court.

I just don't see any proof. His last two seasons have been the two best of his career.

Is anyone else excited that we just make an acquisition that gives the Cleveland Cavaliers the best chance in their history to win a title, and the Washington Wizards are the team that gifted us that chance? It's like one final slap in the face to that team if we take one of their players and go out and win a championship with him. :chuckles:

I'm giving an assignment to one of the number's guys on this board. Unfortunately I have to go to work and lack the time to do this, but with the addition of Telfair we now have a fair number of expiring contracts next year (real quick by memory- DWest, Parker, Telfair, Powe, DBlock, JJ (tecnically)).

I think that Ferry did this by design as to not be "shut out" of all of the trade talk next year. Obviously we won't be trading all in the same deal, but I'd be interested to see what types of salaries (and what types of players at those salaries may be available) for a deal either this offseason or at the deadline next year when you package some these guys together.

And, with the possible inclusion of DWest or JJ I'd think that we can get back a pretty decent piece (assuming that we'd want to throw in either of those two). Just a thought- I think that it makes sense to look into this a little further.

I'm sorry, and I'm usually not al sentimental, but this is SO weird to look at.

From ESPN Insider:

What will Ilgauskas do?
6:48AM ET
Zydrunas Ilgauskas | Wizards

I know he'll probably sign back with us anyway, but you've gotta give the man some love for being the ultimate Cavalier. We still love ya Z.

See ya in 30 days big guy.

Jamison "ecstatic" about move to Cleveland

When he left his Bethesda home on Wednesday afternoon, Antawn Jamison sensed that it might be the last time he would take that familiar drive to Verizon Center. He felt some finality as he went through his game-day routine - getting treatment and tape in the training room; listening to some Lil' Wayne on his iPod and lifting weights.

And after he put on his uniform, Jamison was mentally preparing for the Minnesota Timberwolves when Coach Flip Saunders informed him that Team President Ernie Grunfeld needed to speak with him. Jamison's 5 ½ run in Washington - which included two all-star selections and leading the Wizards to four postseason appearances - had come to an end a little sooner than expected.

"I thought I would at least have a chance to play my last game here playing in a Wizards uniform, but it didn't happen," Jamison said late Wednesday night, after learned that he was headed to the Cleveland Cavaliers in a three-team trade that involved the Los Angeles Clippers. It was a bittersweet moment for Jamison, who felt the regret of unfilled promise but the hope of something greater ahead.

"Ernie, he didn't want to do it. But said he thought so highly of me and thought I had an opportunity to win one. I'm ecstatic," Jamison said. "That's what it's all about, getting a chance to put myself in a position to win a championship. It's sad it didn't happen here in D.C. We had the vision of doing some special things there."

But the Wizards repeatedly failed to launch, either through some unfortunate injuries - most notably to Gilbert Arenas - and mishaps or running into the Cavaliers in the first round. And this season, the team grossly underachieved despite some high expectations, foundering to a 17-33 start and forcing Grunfeld to break up a team that had grown "stale."

Jamison had heard speculation that he could be headed to Cleveland, which led to some anxious and uneasy nights of sleep the past few days. Not because Jamison didn't want to leave; he was unsure if he would ever have an opportunity to play for a championship. He had come to accept that he wasn't going to win a championship in Washington this season.

After Grunfeld dealt Caron Butler, Brendan Haywood and DeShawn Stevenson to Dallas, expediting the rebuilding process, Jamison knew that definitely wasn't going to happen before his contract ended in two years. So, the consummate professional finally did want he hoped he wouldn't have to: he made an impassioned plea for a trade.

"That's one thing I respect about Ernie. I told him, "It'll be tough for me to be part of a rebuilding stage. My window of opportunity is not a wide-open window. I wanted to take advantage of it," said Jamison, who has $28 million left on his contract after this season. "I appreciate them for putting me in a winning situation because they could not have done that."

Jamison said this season has been the most stressful of his career, with the Wizards dealing with the loss of owner Abe Pollin and Arenas suspended for the remainder of the season for bringing guns to the locker room in a dispute with Javaris Crittenton in late December. After playing what turned out to be his final game for the organization in Charlotte, Jamison said he needed a break and didn't want to see a basketball until he came back for practice.

"I've never felt that way about the game," he said. "I was just tired, like, 'What is going on?' "

When asked how he would've dealt with having to finish the season in Washington, Jamison said, "That would've been tough if I would've stayed here. Not being able to do the things I set out to do before the season. The distractions that happened the last month or two. Brendan and them getting traded. I still would've gone out there and been a professional in those situations, but it would've been tough to have fun and go out there and compete at a high level."

But he is thrilled about joining Cleveland, where he will team up with reigning league's most valuable player LeBron James and Shaquille O'Neal. "This is one of the most successful franchises in the NBA. you know they got all-world on the team and they can do so much," Jamison said. "For them to think so highly of me to think that I can help them out as far as accomplishing that overall goal makes me happy."

Jamison understood the oddity of the move, since he spent so much time attempting to beat the Cavaliers, with whom the Wizards had a heated rivalry in recent years. During the 2007 playoffs, the Wizards were without both Arenas and Butler and Jamison famously carried the team on his back, averaging 32 points and nearly 10 rebounds in a competitive four-game sweep.

"It's not weird now. Knowing those guys and knowing how much we didn't like them and the battles that we had and the most important thing coming up on the short end of the stick. But to be a part of it now, it speaks volumes," he said. "This is a team we didn't like and we just had a rivalry, but that's behind us, it's a business, we know that. Just happy that I'm getting my opportunity to fulfill my dream, which is to go deep in the playoffs and win a championship."
