Week 1 (9/3/11): Akron @ #18 Ohio State

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If Toledo hadn't committed 14 penalties with quite a few being very crucial, they win this game easily.

Bauserman cannot move. He can't run. A few times he stood there and allowed the pressure to get him. In fact, I don't think he ran even one time. It's very clear Miller would have gained rushing yards against Toledo. They knew they simply could rush and also defend the receivers with no threat from Bauserman. Big Ten teams and other teams will feast off that. Bauserman made a few good throws, but gosh, when you are wide open it's easy to throw. He also missed a few real badly. He's not a good QB. Just isn't. There's a reason he's a 9th year QB or whatever.

I'm frankly shocked and disgusted we are allowing Miller to rot on the bench. That's on Fuckell. No one else. He needs to get his head out of his ass and decide to make sure this season isn't a total failure.

I'm damn steamed about this game. There is nothing good to take away from it.

Is there a game in history you haven't been steamed after?

Miller should have seen some time, without question.

For all Bauserman's faults, he didn't turn the ball over once...which probably was the difference in the game.

Not so sure a true freshman wouldnt have made a mistake like that.

That said, he needs to be put in for specific scenarios to give this offense another look.

Miller should be the starter next week, and that should not be questioned.. Not sure why Fickell didn't have Braxton as the starter from the get go, considering he needs pretty much a perfect season to be retained as the head coach next year, and the only way you're going to do that is by using your most talented players.

Surprised that OSU isn't giving Jamaal Berry any carries today, either.. The power running game was not working at all.

I'm sorry, but if the guy needed a perfect season...he wasn't starting a true freshman.

Berry is surprising, but I'd imagine the reasoning for that would be lack of reps with the offense bc of the hammy.

I'd put my money on Braxton over Bauserman..

Until he starts playing like a freshman, at which point the fanbase will immediately demand satisfaction.

You at least get the kid some reps/series. You don't let him fret and steam away on the bench. He's pissed off. I don't blame him.

Heck, even Bauserman stated after the game he was surprised Miller didn't get any time. EVERYONE is.

Fickell sucks. He needs replaced sooner than later. This team will be damn lucky to play .500 this year.

Is he pissed off?

Or are you just pissed off?

Lucky to be 6-6? Who the fuck are you kidding...

Bauserman's playing like a freshman...he was horribly inaccurate and has no zip on his passes whatsoever. Miami is athletic his little 30mph slant passes will get picked and taken to the house next week.

This is just like the Justin Zwick, Troy Smith scenario. You don't play a guy over another guy based on Seniority, you play the guy who gives you the best chance to win.

And Braxton hasn't shown anything that leads anyone to believe he gives the team the best chance to win.

Bauserman outplayed him during the spring. He has yet to turn the ball over through two games.

You saying Miller gives them the best chance to win has ZERO evidence at this point and is based on nothing but his star rating coming out of high school.

But with that said, his skillset should allow them to use him in different formations to give defenses another look.

When we were struggling moving the ball I didn't see why we couldn't have at least brought Braxton Miller out; spread out 5 wide, and do some QB draws. Our new coach seems obsessed with going east and west instead of up the middle. Braxton at least gives you a QB fast enough to go side to side and be effective on rollouts if the play breacks down. Got so tired of Joe just throwing it out of bounds because he was too slow to try and run up field and make something happen.

On a side note I'll be at the Toledo v. Boise State game. After today Toledo should be pretty confident heading into the Boise game at home. Still think Boise wins it, but I think Toledo will at least put some points on the board and possibly keep it interesting.

If you're going to use these last two games against Akron and Toledo to justify Bauserman starting, because he hasn't thrown an INT because he won't throw to a receiver who isn't completely wide open, then take a look at Braxton's stats against Akron as well...
