Week #16 - Browns @ Packers 3:30pm Christmas

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Im just passing along what two guys who aren't browns fans thought of the game...

I'm not here to defend my BILs opinions.

Especially the ass hole pats fan. Damn my sister for marrying a new England fan
My friends who are bright football non-Browns fans all say unequivocally that Baker blows

So when does the blame shift to the QB, or does every other person in the organization come first?

What I don’t get: What in the WR room was their to address?

OBJ and Landry were your starters coming in, Higgins was resigned as a Baker clutch, DPJ looked ready to take the next step and Schwartz was drafted in the 3rd round to provide a vertical threat.. Many in here said this was one of the deepest spots on the team and around the league..
There's obviously blame in Baker, and Baker not living up to what he did just last season -- which was #10 in QBR, single digit Interceptions, a road playoff win vs the team's hated rival, and a very good playoff QBR.

But as of December 25th, 2021, the Cleveland Browns have the worst WR room in the league. We are essentially playing a WR4 at WR1 and expecting productive wins.

And yes I do blame Baker for things, but it's not all on him. These guys are running dogshit routes and not going up and getting it.

Merry Christmas you fuckers. Don't let this browns team ruin your Christmas

The Cardinals are going to do so instead.

Early Xmas gift was 1/2 round playoff tickets- prob getting a refund instead

I’m just sick of this shit.

Baker Mayfield is a starting QB in the NFL that thinks he deserves a massive contract extension. He’s made over 50 starts. He’s not some rookie fuckwad. He has to be able to make simple football plays. No more “well Stefanski should know better than to trust his QB!” bullshit.

If Baker can just execute a simple pitch and catch to Njoku OR Landry, this is going for first down easily.

That is more valuable than running Chubb for 5 yards and that’s why Stefanski called the fucking play.

Execute better. No excuses.

This single play sums up the entire issue with Baker.

We constantly get in high leverage situations because we can’t make low leverage throws.

Baker regularly makes bad throws on early schemed up downs, then we get in tougher downs and distances, where all his flaws become magnified.

Some of the hand wringing about WR’s is just hilarious to me though. Baker got a get out of jail free card on that horrendously bad dropped INT. That should have sealed the game walking away. Then the sequence of events that eventually lead to the missed call was equally bad. We have so many basic throws available to him and he just can’t do it. It’s so frustrating.

The stats have proved it time and time again: Baker has at large been average to below average outside of last year.. We now have four seasons of data.. Why is the minority of his play being used as a measuring stick when it’s not representative as Baker as a QB?

Problem is Baker is consistently inconsistent and his lows are incredibly low.. He had OBJ and ran him off.. How is this any different from then last year when, as you said, he was a highly rated QB? The receiving core in place right now is the same receiving core that was in place last year.. He’s had continuity across the board and different results have been achieved.. How does that point to the control group being the issue, and not the variable (aka his play)?

Man I want to barf.

That Landry throw is a way bigger gain than Njoku.

Landry is, at minimum, a 10 yard gain.

If he gets any sort of blocking, as he breaks across the middle, maybe it is already in FG range.

When you get that type of leverage late in a game and miss it, brutal.

Lots of people bitching about WR and we had a chance to let our best WR try to win the game for us and our QB can’t even see him.

Have you not been trumpeting all year that Baker is incompetent? Then why keep giving him the keys and watching him crash?

I agree that Baker sucks. But if somebody proves to me that they suck and I keep asking them to do what they’ve repeatedly demonstrated they can’t do, at what point do I deserve criticism?

Either make a change at the position or adjust your game plan. The run was dominating. Dominating. Baker was garbage. Yet we choose to sink or swim with the garage QB instead of the run game.

I don’t see how anybody could argue that isn’t poor coaching.

I’m going to say something unpopular.

I would rather see Stefanski put the ball in Baker’s hands and let him either win or lose the game than I would run the ball 50 times and have the Browns win in spite of Baker.

No, I’m not rooting for the Browns to lose, but I’m trying to look at this big picture too.

I want Baker to leave no shadow of a doubt - one way or the other, good or bad - on whether or not he should get an extension and/or be the starting QB next season.

The last thing I want to see happen is the Browns back into the playoffs with Baker playing poorly every step of the way, watching him shit himself in the playoffs again, but then the Browns getting cold feet on replacing their quarterback who “led” them back-to-back playoff appearances when the time comes.

Given the uncertainty of the Browns long-term future at the QB position, Baker succeeding/failing in critical moments is more valuable to me than grinding out a win solely on the back of Chubb/the OL/Stefanski’s scheme and possibly being tricked into not replacing (and god forbid extending) a quarterback who can’t hack it.

Forget the dog shit routes. Aikman was saying it as it was happening.

The miss to Njoku and Higgins is just as bad as the INT'S.... The timing, accuracy (throwing behind constantly), checking down to 1 and 1 only.

Baker is a backup NFL QB. He may be the best backup in the league too. He may even be good enough to start for a team not in a position to compete.

He's not the guy.

I'm back. 2 INTs off uncalled DPIs. That last one was especially bullshit, since it would have set up the game winning FG. No single type of officiating pisses me off more in the NFL. That being said, no turnovers and that's probably a W, because the Packers are poop defensively.

I say probably, because not every call by the offense was golden. Browns don't need to backup the Brinks truck for Baker now. Long time defender, but this was levels of Favredom I can't abide. Actually, I should probably say Wentzdom, since Baker this season reminds me of Wentz last (2) season(s). At least Frank Reich knows when the QB needs to be put on a short leash. Like Wentz, he had 1.5 good seasons of play, then turned into a turnover machine.

At least the Browns will have an escape route if they're smart and don't buckle to the bullshit.

Forget the shitty recievers and their route running.........

......

Baker should be better with timing.

Merry Christmas you fuckers. Don't let this browns team ruin your Christmas

This, bottom line. Christmas comes only once a year and our favorite teams will lose time and time again. Don't blow this opportunity to get off RCF and connect with the people who really matter!
