Can’t imagine the Cavs would actually think about drafting Trae Young. I guess it wouldn’t surprise me considering how tone deaf they’ve been at times, but that’d be a big old swing and a miss. Even if Trae Young is good, he’s not the type of guy I want with LeBron.

Jaren Jackson and Mikal Bridges are probably my two favorite guys in the draft. Both guys fit the modern game which can't be said of a few guys at the top.

JJJ and Bamba are my favorites. Love Mikal Bridges if we fall in that 6-10 range. Trae Young would probably be the only pick out of the projected top 8 that would really disappoint me.

I’m sorry, Trae Young is so fucking ugly. Like holy shit we can’t draft someone that looks like that while we have Kevin Love on the team. That’s just too much variance in physical appearance

Says the guy with THAT photo of Josh Rosen?

Sorry, couldn't help it.

I am intrigued by Jaren Jackson as well.

No it’s not that Dan can’t afford it, teams can only send out 5.1 million in cash considerstions per year. The Cavs sent 3mil in the RJ/Felder trade and 2.1 in the George Hill trade. We are not allowed to send anymore cash, so we can’t buy a 2nd rounder in the draft. The amount resets I believe when free agency for next season begins. I guess maybe you can do a handshake deal where a team drafts a guy in the 2nd for you and holds onto him/his rights for a few weeks and then trades him for cash...but it’d be illegal and I’ve never heard of it happening lol.

Plus, with Cedi, Ante and whoever we draft in the lottery....if LBJ stays there’s simply no more room for developments rookies on the roster. Maybe there’s a draft and stash guy the Cavs like? Maybe there’s another luxury tax team that would trade a small salary into one of our trade exceptions and give us a 2nd round pick(that’d be an expensive ass 2nd rounder given our repeater tax situation)

Maybe the Cavs look to dump Korver for open money and a 2nd rounder? I dunno.

If there’s a guy the Cavs LOVE available somewhere in the 2nd round, I’m sure there’s ways the Cavs can obtain a pick, but it would come at some kind of cost because we can’t just buy one. I’d personally consider it unlikely.

Wasn't there a Euro stash big we got somehow in the recent trades? Can't remember the name, but we must like him at least a little .

I'm obviously not as down as you're on Young but I prefer two way players and Bamba has a better shot of improving on offense than Young has on defense and rebounding + paint protection are things that translate well into the next level. With Jaren Jackson Jr. and Mikal, you don't have to worry as much. I have a sneaky feeling that Miles will also be a solid player with his improved shot making and great defense.

I wouldn't say I'm down on Trae Young, I just don't see the fit. If we're being honest, Kyrie wasn't a good fit alongside LeBron, but he was so insanely talented that the positives outweighed the negatives, and they made it work.

You have to really be a special kind of talent to make fit not matter, and I don't think it's wise to bet on someone being that special of a talent when you have all these other guys on the board, who are as good or better, and do fit.

The latest ESPN mock draft just had us taking Jaren Jackson out of MSU.
Crazy !! I remember 20 years ago standing outside of the Renaissance hotel in downtown Cleveland and hitting Jaren Jackson on the side of his neck with an egg and then running for my life thru public square....

Went to the game like 2 hours later and got his autograph along with Duncan and Robinson and Vinny Del Negro and the dude didn’t even recognize me...

I remember he went either 0-3 or 0-4 that night ?? Just a poor performance and had egg on the side of his face...

Now we can draft his kid....full circle...

Kyrie was an OK fit with Lebron because he was a great ISO scorer who could break down the defense some and give Lebron a break carrying the offensive load, but he was also a great spot-up three point shooter when it came time to receive Lebron's passes.

Trae Young reminds me of World B Free. Probably just nostalgia.

I completely disagree that Kyrie and LeBron weren’t a good fit. Kyrie and LeBron were a better fit than LeBron and Wade because of Kyrie’s elite shooting. That pairing would have been a dynasty if we didn’t run into the best team of all time adding a top 5 player

I'm very, very, very intrigued by Bamba. Most players that young and that tall seem super skinny and lanky. He actually has a little meat on him, especially in his arms. If you look at his build and physique you see that he could really beef up and at 7'0" with a near 8'0" wingspan that's generational type measurements right there.

Offensively he's still incredibly raw but Shaka has done a good job with him thus far. He's expanded out to have a decent mid-range pull up and Shaka has him very active on both ends. And again, an absolute athletic freak.

If we're picking around 6-7 range and he's still available I think he'd be a steal.

Honestly if we can stay in the top 6 we're going to get somebody really good I think... It's like Bagley and Porter Jr almost being overlooked now and both could be excellent fits here

Why? Because I'm not buying into an overhyped draft?

Meh.

Give me a guaranteed commodity any day.

He was responding to you saying you wouldn't trade Adams for a top 5 pick, but would trade Westbrook in a heartbeat for it if you were Presti. That's the interesting take.

I don't really place much value at all on ISO scoring, but you're right, the spot up shooting made it passable. I think it's obvious though, that the two got by mostly on just being more talented than really having good cohesion.
