What do the Cavs trade for CP3? IT, Brooklyn, and Shump/filler? It seems like a lot, especially if he doesn’t work in Houston, but I don’t know what else does it?

Hard to say... I dunno if I would trade all of that for CP3, but... I might. Only thing is now, the Nets are without Lin, so.. they are almost certain to be bottom 2 in NBA.. That's very difficult to let go...

Before Lin got injured, I'd like say do it.. But now... ehhh..

No fucking way...Did you forget he was on the bench because of injury issues at the end of the GS game?

It also depends how the Cavs look. If they look fucking great, you don't make the trade. If they look awful, you also don't make the trade, because it probably means LeBron is gone.

But, if they look good, but not good enough to beat GSW (like midseason last year); and there is evidence that CP3 would make the difference, I would consider it.

If CP3 is demanding out, though, I don't give up any pick.

IT is very unlikely to get a full max.

Only chance is If he comes back and averages 28 PPG and is our 2nd best player and we win the title.

Lowry didn't even get a max. In fact, the $30 mil he did get from Toronto was basically a gift. His offer sheets were in the low 20s.

IT will get paid but not a max. Something like 25-30 million a year for 3 years maybe with a team option.

For CP3 to leave, I'd have to imagine he's ask out. Which means we (and any other team) would offer peanuts.

Only one game, but he looked awkward out there with that HOU team.

Haven't forgotten, believe me; I'm aware of CP3's issues.

I'm just saying we're all in with LeBron right now... Everything is going to stop and start with LeBron come the playoffs. A guy like CP3 could be the difference maker -- but, there's a lot of ifs there.

All in all though, I expect us to lose to the Warriors barring someone on that team gets injured -- it's almost a foregone conclusion. So, I'd like to do whatever I can to continue rolling the dice; i.e., making sure LeBron stays in Cleveland.

Again, I'm inclined NOT to trade the pick now that Lin is injured -- but if Houston called right now and said BKN pick for CP3 straight up, I'd listen.

Kyle Lowry is 31 years old, he'll be 32 before the playoffs... A 4-year max for Lowry would've meant he'd be 36 years old making max money -- no, no one is offering that.

Thomas will get a max offer from SOMEONE ... we're kidding ourselves if we think no team will offer him the max.

I think Harden loves playing the point .... Will be interesting to watch, to say the least.

CP3 seems like a great guy, but his teammates haven't always thought so.. So.. we'll see what happens.

Well that's great and all but he is hurting his and our chances of winning by not committing. This team could get better - significantly. Is it really worth it just to maintain some sort of "leverage" ? He doesn't have too many elite years left...
I mean, I don't really see it hurting us. I think we have a better chance this year than last year to win. In spite of his contract situation we added Rose, Green and Wade on minimums. We also added IT, Crowder, Zizic and a potential top 5 pick. We have depth, youth, and assets. What would be improved if LeBron came out and committed?

How though? I just fail to see what CP3 ultimately gives this team. He isn't a defensive liability like Thomas but he isn't the scorer he is either. He's also 3 years older.

Wouldn't even think about giving up the Nets pick for CP3 honestly and I'd think long and hard about how much a straight swap really improves us.

If he has another amazing season then you might be right. But of course if he has another great season then the Cavs might as well keep him. If he doesn't though, then I have a feeling he won't get max offers. Very few teams actually need a starting point guard...and amongst those that do, there aren't many that actually have max cap room. And, even if a team both needed a point guard and could create max cap space, I'm not sure it would be willing to take a gamble on a 29 year old undersized one coming off a major injury.

Umm...we'd trade the Brooklyn pick for an all-star.

So, it is the difference between having an additional all-star and not having one. So yeah, it is a big different.

What all-star is available that we could trade the Brooklyn pick for? It has to be a guy that is both available and good enough to be worth the pick.

IT will be 29 with the hip + his height as a forever question mark .

And I can't just accept that "someone will".

That's exactly what Lowry thought. He thought wrong.

I looked through the team poised to have max slots next year...1: it's not a lot of teams. 2: IT doesn't make much sense for any of them.

Like I said...if he's all-NBA level again this year....fine...in fact I'd want to pay him the max.

But if he's even 85% of that..he's not getting the full max. Just no way.

I'm not contending anything that has IT below 85% of what he was... If you concede that if he's 85% of his former self by the end of the season then he'll get max offers then there's no disagreement here.
