Welcome Todd Haley - Browns OC

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He's been a wr coach in Cincinnati for 7 years and has experience with hues offense and someone he should be able to trust.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that having connections to Hue and his way of doing things is not going to be considered a resume positive by a lot of Browns fans.

Okay, did you read the article I linked? He knows the offense that hue likes and should be able to transition into that role easier than others. You also aren't including Marvin and him being reluctant to playing rookies. Plus you're the guy that pumps the breaks on anyone criticizing Coleman because it takes years to develop as a wr.

I could give a shit if he has connections with Hue. As far as I'm concerned, we should be looking for someone who has the potential to take over for Hue when he almost inevitably continues to fail next year, not a Hue lackey.

I guess I should say that I want hue fired and a new coaching staff brought in. I don't like the idea of forcing coaches onto a staff, but for the sake of argument, I wanted to list a guy who could be an option. You bring up him being a lacky, with no way of proving it. Then you say he can't develop Ross but defend our receivers saying it takes years to develop.

What about mike tice? He would at least help our OL.

I'd personally like to see the Browns find someone who works within the same coaching tree as the WCO Hue has been running. It's not a necessity but it would help. I agree with B00bie that DeFilippo would be a fortunate grab.

It seems to me like every franchise saw McVay with the Rams and Shanahan with the Niners and they want to jump on that next young guy in his 30s who can innovate on offense.

I don't know if that pipeline has somebody who will become a head coach this year, let alone a new hot OC. Matt LaFleur was OC under McVay, Pete Carmicheal Jr. has promise under Peyton in New Orleans. I'm guessing Frank Reich finally gets a shot at a head coach position this offseason, he's been a very good offensive play caller for over a decade.

I bet Todd Downing isn't retained in Oakland. He was a good quarterbacks coach but didn't set the world on fire in his first year as an OC. Ken Zampese worked with Him for years in Cincy and is available.

Ok. Now this is getting good. We know Hue wants to call plays. Apparently Ryan wants to call plays and can't do that in HOU. This feels like a move being made without much input from Hue that also takes away one of the things he was really big on.

So here's the thing....

...Haslam said Dorsey can't fire Hue.

...he never said he couldn't do enough stuff to spite Hue that Hue walks away.

The Browns are more entertaining in the off-season than they are during the season- even if it is just ridiculous drama...

I thought Zampese had the job in the bag as soon as Hue said he was open to an OC calling plays. They are very close friends. Being out of the game most of the year, it's a perfect fit.

Minus the fact he bombed miserably as an OC on a team with more talent?

Wasn't Zampese a QB Coach before he became OC? Maybe that's what he's in line for...

I hope. Fuck Hue if he hires Zampese, dude was the only guy in the league to stop AJ Green.

Gregg Williams duh

I don't think Keys was endorsing it, just saying that's what he foresaw occurring

Wait, weren't you just complaining about "shotgun marriages" with Dorsey and Hue? Zampese at QB coach or OC is the exact opposite than a shotgun marriage. If the Browns grab Ryan from Texas and Zampese, there's some continuity.
