What the rebuild SHOULD look like..

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yeah Smooth, I'm interested in what the plan would be with the Exception.

Smooth! Great idea as always.

This lineup would sure as hell kick ass and may very well fit Byron Scott's system. JJ would definitely beast here. I hope the front office thinks like this, specially since we have a lot of picks for deal sweeteners.

One thing I'd like to make sure of though is how the ownership and the front office would treat our players. No more special treatment, we do not have a megastar anymore. I truly believe that whatever transpired in these past few months have definitely shapen up and improved the way the culture of our team would be. They should make Cleveland a place where players would like to go simply because of what we have as an organization (player development, winning culture, defense oriented, strong coaching), top to bottom.

We are a solid organization with the best fanbase around. Come here because we have a culture which will help you achieve your potential, stay here because of the family - not the false fronting of having a cool egomaniacal star who just thinks of himself.

I wonder what the teams motto will be for this season?

will they go back to 'all for one and one for all?'

or something like 'representing cleveland with pride?'

Ahh man, I know it's for the best but I literally want to puke reading this. FML.

I would love Ty Lawson, and Grant to make a strong push for Marc Gasol in the FA next year. Isn't Mike Conley a FA next year as well??

Smooth's starting lineup has demonstrated an awesome PROVEN ability to score a combined 40 points a game AS PROS.
Add in another 25 for the backups and you'd better have a hell of a defense. Good shot at a high lottery pick though.

Why does everyone hate on Al Jefferson?

I like any trade that involves putting Orlando over the top of Miami....for a long time.

Mo and Varejao to Orlando for nothing but future pics and signed and traded garbage expirings.

make it work...

Why does everyone hate on Al Jefferson?

I, for one, don't hate the guy. I bet he's decent.

I hate the idea of having him in a rebuilding Cavs team.

By the way, Smooth, great job.

This just shows why we need to cut cap space this year and deal with the down season that would come with it. Getting a center like Gasol would be huge because there aren't many teams out there at all who have one available. Add a scorer in Smooth's final lineup to mentor someone like Barnes and take the end of game shots and I'd think that that team would have the potential to do some awesome things. Scott would have them playing defense right away for one thing, and they'd be adaptable to running a real offensive system. Sure, this season would suck, but I'd be much more receptive to watching the team suck ass if I knew that they would have cap space and a shot at something in the future.

Priority one has to be getting out from under those bad contracts though. Getting rid of Jamison is step one, and I don't know how we're going to manage it.

1st trade:

Memphic receives: Anderson Varejao, Anthony Parker
Cleveland receives: Hasheem Thabeet, Mike Conley Jr.

2nd Trade:

Celtics receives: Jawad Williams, S&T Shaq (2 yrs. 8mil)
Cleveland receives: Glen Davis, Avery Bradley

3rd Trade:

Dallas receives: Antawn Jamison, Jamario Moon, Leon Powe
Cleveland receives: Erik Dampier, Dallas 2011 1st rounder

4th Trade:

Charlotte receives: Mo Williams
Cleveland recieves: Nazr Mohammad, Gerald Henderson, Charlotte 2011 2nd rounder

5th trade:

NOH recieves: 7.7M of trade exception
Cleveland recieves: James Posey, Craig Brackins, NOH 2011 2nd rounder

6th trade:

Pheonix recieves: Delonte West, Sebastian Telfair
Cleveland recieves: Barbosa

Free Agency: Sign Josh Childress to a 5 year 32M deal

PG: Mike Conley Jr. / Avery Bradley / Gibson
SG: Barbosa / Gerald Henderson / Danny Green
SF: Josh Childress / James Posey
PF: J.J / Glen Davis / Craig Brackins
C: Erik Dampier / Hasheem Thabeet / Nazr Mohammed

Next year: The team is extremely young. They'll all grow together, but will for sure be a lottery team next year. Allowing us to maybe pick up a decent big man. Hasheem Thabeet gets to spend the year mentored by who he should model his game after, Erik Dampier. Sasha Kaun and Christian Eyenga spend another year overseas.

Trade Deadline: We still have 9M in the trade exception to help a team a bit over the luxury tax by taking a player with a pick/asset.

Next years draft: 2 First Rounders, 3 Second Rounders

5 total picks allows us some flexibility in the draft. We have to ability to move up or down and target specfic players that fit our system.

Next Years Free Agency: 20M in cap space

Dampier, Mohammed and Davis are all free agents. the 20M in caps space we can either try to sign a max player (not likely for another year or two) or use to absorb another contract with a pick/asset.

I would like to see us get Iguodala and Jefferson...then next year work hard on trying convince NO to trade us Paul and Okafor.

A backcourt of Paul and Iggy, to me, would be sick. That is everything you could ever want out of your guard. Defense, scoring, passing, rebounds...everything!

The big man tandem of Jefferson and Okafor is great too. Neither are super big men, but they compliment each other perfectly. Okafor is great defensively but his offensive is limited, Jefferson's offensive is nice, but he just lacks certain tools to be anything but adequate on defense.

Since we are all dreaming here, if you can convince these 4 to be on the roster...spend every other thing you have remaining to try and convince Melo to come here and be our 3.

Pg - Paul
Sg - Iggy
Sf - Melo
Pf - Al
C - Okafor

The evil empire couldn't handle that shit! Lebron would jack up dumb threes instead of drivng in side against Iggy and Melo have to get around Okafor. Wade's body would break down at an accelerated rate and he would collapse by half time. Bosh is just soft...I'm not worried about him in general.
