IF we draft Rosen/Minkah, I would say that 2021 is in play. 2019 obviously is unlikely. 2020 would be possible in a Goff/Wentz like scenario, but 2021 is more likely due to a Big Ben retirement.

Rosen gives us our elite QB. Fitzpatrick our QB of the Defense to pair with Myles.

HOWEVER...I don't put it past the Browns to draft Darnold/Barkley, which is why I chose after 2022.

It comes down to which veteran FA quarterback we sign. If it's the right guy that could enable a drastic improvement. If not, then there will at least be marginal improvement. I think adding Haley is worth 3-4 wins compared to Hue steering the offense.

I would hope we could do it by January 2020. Already young talent (defensive front seven) on the team, most of these guys should take a huge step in the next two years. Legit o coordinator. By 2020 Hue has proved himself or has been replaced. Also that is two more drafts ( one large one this year for sure) and two free agent classes. If they don’t have a team that can win 9 games or more two years from now than something has gone wrong again.

I think the difference between 2020 and 2021 depends on the QB we choose in the draft and also if we get a viable bridge QB or not. If we get Alex Smith for example, we might make the wild card next year. We end up wasting a year or 2 with AJ McCarron, 2021 seems far more likely. I unfortunately feel like they don’t deserve any optimism so I went with 2021.

The Browns Pythagorean had them as a 4 win team last year.

With expected changes, it is not out of the realm of possibity that this team has 8-8 talent next year. Especially because they have two vet coordinators and another massive influx of talent coming.

This is, of course, assuming that Hue can do an average job and Greggggggg doesnt play 10 on 11 again.

Does the Pythagorean say anything about 2021. Considering shopping at the dollar store for the next 36 months to afford super bowl tickets here in Tampa in 2021

If you can prove to me that you will eat Ramen for every single meal until SB 2021, I will buy you a front row seat at the 50 yard line.

Ok, cmon, Superbowl? Playoffs I can see. But I think we all know we're never seeing a Superbowl. Maybe my kids will.

With the Browns Pythagorean, you may be able to save him some gas along the way, too!

I’m as down on the team as anyone but unless you’re like, 95, this doesn’t make any sense

All it takes is an elite QB and even incompetent front offices can win.

At this point I'm willing to say an elite defense supersedes an elite QB.

It was half tongue in cheek, but...I mean, call me when we have one of those. Been waiting my whole life with no end in sight as I'm sure many others (who are older than me) have been.

Besides, just having a good QB doesn't suddenly grant you an automatic Superbowl. Takes luck, and other components as well. In reality, I'm sure the Browns will be good again at some point and maybe even make a Superbowl. But to say with confidence that I will see a Superbowl win in my lifetime? Not sure how anyone can say that.

I mean there were points in time when I’m sure patriots fans said that about their team

And saints fans

And Seahawks fans

50 years is a long time. No one knows what will happen over it. ~~ItS A MySt3Ry~~

Considering our youth, salary cap, and draft picks, this team is really not that far. If Sasha had a "three year" plan, he's left us in perfect position to execute it. He won't get the credit, but if we add Alex Smith, Rosen/Darnold, Fitzpatrick, a stud RB...this team could really go places as soon as next year. Not Superbowl, but we are absolutely primed for a huge turnaround in terms of our talent maturing.

And I'll bet that JT comes back if we sign Alex Smith.

I've been told over and over about how we have cap space, or draft picks, or both and how it's all gonna change soon!!! too many times. Not buying in anymore until I see something tangible. Show me. Feel like every regime change I've drank the Kool Aid with everybody else on this forum and "gotten pumped" for all these high draft picks that are consequently blown. I know it's a tired take, but I shouldn't have to justify my trepidation.

I get the point you're making, though. :chuckle: Like I said, I was being partly tongue in cheek. Just don't ask me to get excited or even predict distant future Superbowl appearances until there are actual results to work with. We have three pro teams in Cleveland and none of them won a title for 52 years. When the Cavaliers won, it took probably the most monumentally historic sequence of events I've seen in sports (once in a generation player, hometown kid, leaves then comes back, 3 draft lotteries won, down 3-1, etc). For a city that seems to only get a shot at a title once in a while, nothing is out of the question.
