We were about to make the playoffs under Mike Pettine the year we drafted Johnny XFL. We were what, 7-4? Then he gets forced on the coaching staff and the wheels fell off the bus.

I don’t think Pettine was a particularly great head coach, but he was getting results when he was doing it his way. Ray Farmer and/or Jimmeh ruined that.

Even if the start of that season prior to the Manziel Mandate was entirely luck, it just goes to show you that everyone eventually lucks into a decent season.

I’m the next 2-3 years we should make the playoffs. Law of averages, if nothing else.

Let’s say January 2021.

Let's not try to rewrite history, Alex Mack went down, hoyer started to play like shit and didn't help his case.

Ok, cmon, Superbowl? Playoffs I can see. But I think we all know we're never seeing a Superbowl. Maybe my kids will.
You will eat these words in 2021 as you desperately try to find tickets after the afc title game victory, being you are only 90 minutes away from the stadium.

Also you have plenty of time to produce a bAby between now and 2021. You def can take your child to the game!

You’re right, money manziel was certainly not the problem

I'm not saying he was good, he was garbage. However, hoyer was dropped as the starter cause he started to play like dog shit.

So how does everyone feel now that the offseason is over? Next year is probably still a bit of a reach for playoffs, but in another 12 months after another free agent class and another draft you would think the 2019-20 season is very realistic assuming Baker can develop into a top 12 to 15 qb.

I know that is still a major assumption, plus we have to see if Hue is still the coach. But if you look at the roster today vs 24 months ago at this time, there is def a significant talent increase. So hopefully we can win 6 games this year.

I think, after this offseason, it would be a disappointment if we did not make the playoffs in 2020. Free agency and the draft were great. Now Hue just needs to bring it all together.

After another Brownsie draft, I'll keep my vote as after 2022.

I still feel the same, though we could surprise and and make it this year. I think in my original post, I only said this year if we got Kirk. Taylor is better than any secondary option I was thinking of at the time. The stars just seem to align for next year.

When you look at 2018's potential depth chart vs everything before, you'll quickly come up with this being the best team since 2007. I say since 2007 because that squad actually proved their worth and won 10 games. So, it took us 11 years to field a roster capable of actually competing, that's remarkable.

2022 is ridiculous. Big Ben is on his way out, Bengals, Ravens are very beatable. 2019-20 is my pick.

lol at anything being ridiculous besides penciling in the Browns for the playoffs over any time span

Team just won 1 game in 32 attempts and kept the head coach.

I voted after 2022 and I'll need to see it to believe any differently. Team hasn't made the playoffs in 16 years but everyone is so confident we now have it right.

Everyone thinks every new front office that comes in is different and that all of the old ones obviously wouldn't work as if they hadn't gotten the same treatment while they were here

Browns need to learn to crawl before they walk. I'll believe it when I see it when it comes to the Browns, but it's a much smarter bet to take after 2022 than before if you were betting real money

Yeah I simply don’t agree at all with this.

I don't know how anyone can objectively look at the roster and say the team isn't in the best position its been in for a very long time. Tyrod Taylor is by far the best QB thats been here since the return (not that its saying much). That alone should make a big difference. I mean he did just end the Bills' playoff drought.
