Who is Chris Grant interested in signing / trading for?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think Mayo reads too high on the turd-o-meter for the Cavs liking. Someone like him might make sense down the road once the organization has had a chance to re-build the culture and identity. IMO, they're trying to get rid of those types ... not bring more aboard

I understand the concept behind this. Ideally, I'd love to have an entire team of high character guys, but at the end of the day I also want guys who can actually play. Once they inevitably dump Baron, this team is going to have a really difficult time scoring points. They are already setting up Kyrie Irving for failure, in my opinion, but not having a single additional person on the roster (outside I guess of Jamison who we all want gone) who can consistently score points. You're counting on Irving to be the primary scorer AND the primary shot creator for others and that's a ton of pressure to put on a 19 year old, #1 overall pick or not.

I understand the idea that this is a "development" year, but its just as easy to develop bad habits as it is to develop good habits.

Speights from Philly is another guy I'd take a look at, David Aldridge is reporting he could be sent to Denver for a 2nd round pick, the cavs certainly have enough of those they could send to Philly for him. Seems like a low risk move for a guy who has potential to be a decent starting center. guess grant isn't that high on him, otherwise its a no-brainer.

I agree with what you're saying, but see the Front Office and an "error on the side of caution" mentality when it comes to shaping this year's roster. Both in terms of personality as well as roster (flexibility, assets, etc.). I'm not against someone with chinks in the "good human being" armor, but it'd have to be a really good situation.

This a million times.

If you were curious as to why Tristan was the pick at #4, look no further than his character. LeBron shook this organization to the core, and they are looking for the highest character guys they can get moving forward.

Trade market for one of our PG (ramon sessions) wont happen until after the 16th... everyone waiting too see what PGs will be released...

Hopefully Marc Gasol. If we can't sign him, at least try to trade Andy + Kings first for Gasol? Then hopefully we can get a scorer from the draft (Lamb or Beal are the guys I think the Cavs would look at).

Don't have the money for Gasol... we all knew this before he even signed that offer sheet too, so it was unrealistic from the start.

Tank this yr, get a top 5 for this sick draft class and then a key FA next season and we will be back in biz.

Oj Mayo? not a bad option at 2.. will most likely be free by MEM. Is most ideal player to me for FA 2012. That is if we go 3-4-5 in draft.

You want to know a good way for Kyrie to leave real quick? By tanking the next few years. Come on guys...there is a point where we start getting better and not tanking. If we do bad this season, no big deal..we would atleast try to become winners and hopefully Kyrie/Tristan learned alot and gained some great experience. Tanking on purpose isn't going to help the rookies. Especially with the "purposely lose" attitude.

I like the tank and top 5 pick, but don't agree with the key FA part. Get that top 5 pick in '12, let him grow with Kyrie/Thompson, land another top-6 pick in '13. Then, start looking to put some role players around them.

That's assuming all three picks become stars.

Who's saying purposely lose? We want to develop these guys, while surrounding them with players they can grow with. The problem with LeBron was that we immediately tried to start winning and started trading for any vet we could find. When it came to the end of last year, LeBron was surrounded by broken down guys with no hope of improving.

When people see the term "tank," bad things come to mind. Most of us don't mean intentionally lose when we use it, but certain individuals take it that way.

If you're going to suck there is no reason not to suck worse than anyone else.

I am one of these certain individuals.

I don't know who "most of you" are, but from what I've seen on this forum so far, a fair size of this community seems to be of the opinion that the FO should do nothing that will improve the Cavs for the coming season (unless it's a good young player on a cheap deal- yeah, right). Sounds like a will to intentionally lose to me.

Perhaps most of you try to mitigate this with the knowledge/assumption that Scott nor the players will try to lose intentionally. But in general, my guess is that many here mean losing intentionally/not doing anything tangible to win while they talk about tanking, and sugarcoating won't change that.

No offense meant, just my perception as a relative and perhaps somewhat objective newcomer.

Commence the rookie hazing...
