Who is Chris Grant interested in signing / trading for?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I am one of these certain individuals.

I don't know who "most of you" are, but from what I've seen on this forum so far, a fair size of this community seems to be of the opinion that the FO should do nothing that will improve the Cavs for the coming season (unless it's a good young player on a cheap deal- yeah, right). Sounds like a will to intentionally lose to me.

Perhaps most of you try to mitigate this with the knowledge/assumption that Scott nor the players will try to lose intentionally. But in general, my guess is that many here mean losing intentionally/not doing anything tangible to win while they talk about tanking, and sugarcoating won't change that.

No offense meant, just my perception as a relative and perhaps somewhat objective newcomer.

Commence the rookie hazing...

Nah, I think what most of us are against is bringing in players that would improve us enough to maybe make the playoffs, but wouldn't help this team go any further than that.

For example, let's say the team were to bring in Iguodala and Emeka Okafor (just a hypothetical). How would that benefit the franchise long-term? It's probably good enough to get the team to the 8th spot, or just below that. This takes the team out of position to draft a guy that could turn into a superstar.

That's what I'm against, anyway.

I could see the Cavaliers setting low point total records. They could conceivably have a year where noone on the team averages above 13ppg.

Um, they probably SHOULDN'T be making moves like that unless they are young players, no.

You want to know a good way for Kyrie to leave real quick? By tanking the next few years. Come on guys...there is a point where we start getting better and not tanking. If we do bad this season, no big deal..we would atleast try to become winners and hopefully Kyrie/Tristan learned alot and gained some great experience. Tanking on purpose isn't going to help the rookies. Especially with the "purposely lose" attitude.

Im saying this as in play hard play the rooks, but their overall ability of just learning the game is going to have the cavs losing games. Thats my way of tanking the season, not purposely lose games. The roster is bad enough for this to happen night in and night out. We just need to get one more top 5 pick to be able to actually start making moves in the world of the NBA again.

Lets quote our great friend LBJ and say "Rome wasnt built in one night guys"

Look at the Thunder it's been 4 years in the making, get used to it, Young players need time and don't win championships at young ages. It will be atleast 3 years before the Cavs are relevant again and could be even longer of a process if we decide to bring in good/decent vets at this point. Stock up the 1st round picks this year and lets move on.

If it didn't happen last year, it's not going to happen this year.

I always love the people that get mad about tanking. Thats how you become a treadmill team. Losing is the way to win right now for the Cavs. We aren't going to get super-star free agents or trade for them. The draft is going to be where we do our damage at. I have no interest in being a team like the Pacers who might win over 40 games a year but lose in the 1st round each season. We want to be like the Thunder. And it took them a few bad season to get where they are at.

What? Setting records? Or noone averaging over 13ppg? Cause Baron and Tawn were both over 13ppg, but the Cavs likely won't have Baron and Tawn has to fall off SOME time.

Jamison, Sessions, and Irving are the only players I see having a chance to scoring more than 13ppg. And thats if Sessions plays a lot of 2 guard now.

From what I am hearing through the conferences that Grant has had with the media, it sounds like that they are standing pat with their current roster. They just resigned Parker and dumped Davis's salary to make a future move for next year. In my opinion, I feel that we will trade Jaimison sometime before the trading deadline to obtain more assets in picks. I wish we could obtain O.J. Mayo through a deal but that would be highly unlikely. We have to remember that the draft in 2012 and the free agent will be much better than this year.

I think if omri gets comfortable and around 30 minutes a game i could see him getting 13 ppg

Draft picks, draft picks draft picks, you need veterans also to compete or you'll end up like the kings or wizards, the only reason the thunder is a great team of yungsters is because the talented players they have just so happen to be mature and even westbrook shows sum signs of diva syndrome, having a yung team that's mature is a slim to none chance, cavs will need 3 to 4 solid veterans on their yung sqaud to compete

I know this is crazy, but when the time comes, I would give a guy like James Harden close to a maximum contract. Crazy at first glance, but a kid who is 23, athletic as what, fundamental, takes care of the ball, good shooter from everywhere and can play good D. There have been FAR worse max contracts handed out to guys on the wrong side of 25 (Joe Johnson, Rashard)

We are going to have to reach for a guy to come to Cleveland. When the time is right, you have to make a FA signing. Harden might not happen because he's due for an extension THIS year and as many of you have pointed out, our big FA signing might not happen until 2013, but this has been the plan all along, over-pay a great young talent to add into our core of draftees. Say we get lucky and grab Harrison Barnes, MKG, or Jeremy Lamb (who is still going to grow to 6-7)

Kyrie
Harden
Barnes
Thompson
Andy

THAT is how it is done.

This EXACT example does not have to apply, please don't make this post something it is not. It is merely intended to illuminate the fact that we are going to over pay to add one more BIG chip to this puzzle someday, whenever it may be.
