Who is the “greatest shooter” in Cavs history?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I know I've been talking about him alot recently because of the parallels and comparisons I make between he and Okoro. Jordan said this guy made him WORK and from the ultra completive and maniacal Jordan, that's as close to "Jordan stopper" admission as you'll ever get

The 96-97 Bulls did not have fun against the Cavs and Bobby Phills:

Cleveland 97
Chicago 102

Chicago 87
Cleveland 71

Chicago 70
Cleveland 73

Cleveland 71
Chicago 84

The Bulls did not have stellar offensive games against them, and the Cavs went 2-2 with the Bulls in 97-98; the only one of two teams to go .500 against the Bulls that year in the regular season. Indiana also went 2-2, and nearly knocked them out in the ECF, going 4-3.

Also, Mark Price.

He'd be a superstar in today's league.

That 91-92 Cavs team had some excellent three-point shooters. So did the 92-93 team.

Talk about not pressing your advantages against a team like the Bulls who were not a great 3-point team.

The correct answer is Mark Price. Body of work as a Cavalier is nearly unparalleled throughout the NBA even as shooting becomes more important and rewarded.

I still think of little Stevie Kerr as a Cavalier moreso than his influence on other franchises, don't know if he would agree. If I had anyone who had a cup of coffee in Cleveland, he'd put up a fight with Price for #1.

My supporting cast would be Danny Ferry as the sweetest shooting big and Bingo from the veterans committee.
I saw this thread and thought it was a trick question. The answer is Mark Price and no one is even close behind him.

I love this post

I’m old so my memories of the first Cavs might be mixed up but I always remembered Synder and Bingo stroking it deep! I just can’t remember Campy being any further out than 15-18 feet
Campy's shot was so strange, that step back jumper looked like it was released behind his head

Has Korver been mentioned in this thread? Was a pretty big oversight on my part, haven‘t seen him mentioned. Only issue with him was never seeming to make the game changing ones. Pressure seemed to get to him.

Here is my list of the best shooters the Cavs have had since I've been following (mid 1980s). Price is the best and Korver probably the 2nd but the rest of the list is in no particular order.

Mark Price
Kyle Korver
Steve Kerr
Kyrie Irving
Wesley Person
Danny Ferry
Boobie Gibson
Mo Williams
Trajan Langdon
Damon Jones
Mike Miller
Dell Curry
Jason Kapono
Joe Harris

I mean, JR has to be on that list doesn’t he?

The two I disagree on is Kopono and Harris. My opinion maybe skewed but I never them as the pure shooters the rest of this were. As for Kyrie I see him being more of a scorer than a shooter.

I'm just utterly gobsmacked that no one has even mentioned Luke Jackson yet. Unreal how that man shot down my hopes and dreams with sniper-like precision

Shouldn’t legendary three point shooter Dylan Windler be on this list? Wasn’t he 9 for nine or something from three for one game? Give the man his prop.

Smith was a good shooter and made some big shots for us but he wasn't a great shooter. He only shot 40% for 3 in 2 of his 17 seasons. He has a career eFG% of 51% which is good but not elite.

That still has to rank above Joe Harris (as a Cav), for instance. I get he’s not top 5 or anything but top 15 ish which is about the number of names you had? He has to be in there. Kopono??
