Who would YOU draft?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

A bunch of draft-related questions. Sorry it's confusing.

Don't expect the Cavs to leave the draft with 4 players. The FO only likes going into a season with 2 rookies.

Who would YOU draft?

I do not like d-leaguers. I like players who could actually have a future.

1) Alex Len: The injury bothers me but the Cavs need a center. I think Len is the best fit with our team culture and the pieces we already have. Len is also a true center. Noel is starting to feel more like an Ibaka type PF.

2) Otto Porter: Sports writers around the country seem to agree that Porter is the best fit for the Cavs. It is tough to argue against them given that Porter plays a position of need, has a well rounded game, high character, and doesn't need to dominate the ball to make an impact. I sort of see Porter as Shane Battier. Can hit a corner three, create some shots, defend multiple positions, and relies more on smarts and bball IQ rather than raw athleticism.

3) Victor Oladipo: He might not be the best pure fit on this team but I love his game. In a draft with so many question marks, Oladipo provides some certainty in his work ethic and his defensive ability.

4) Nerlens Noel: Before his injury, he would have been number one on this list. But that injury scares the crap out of me. If we find ourselves drafting 4th with Noel still on the board, it would be extremely hard to pass on the upside. Noel won't be a center. I see him as a PF. But he might be the player who ultimately makes the biggest impact.

With our lottery pick I want to draft Alex Len. With the #19 pick I want to take Tony Snell. Perfect 3 and D player who also happens to be a good ball handler too.

#4-Otto Porter
#19-Alex Len/Rudy Gobert/Steven Adams
-I prefer Len, but all 3 look like they can fill the center role for us with midrange shots.

Whatever you're smoking, I'll have. Alex Len will NEVER be there at 19.

BPA:
1. Noel
2. McLemore
3. Len

Then it gets shaky. It just depends on if you want defense, offense or someone well rounded.

The order I'd draft:
1. Noel
2. Len
3. McLemore
4. Porter
5. VO

Noel, Len, and Gobert.

I'd go with drafting two centers as they seem very high risk/high reward and I'm not enamored with any of the wing prospects.

A guy I'd love to see drop or make a minor trade up to get is Michael Carter Williams.

We all saw how valuable a guy like Shaun Livingston was coming off the bench with the ability to play PG and defend SG's because of his size. MCW can bring that same type of play to the table with more youth, athleticism and potential.

Seeing the work Dion is putting in this offseason, retooling his jump shot, makes this an even bigger homerun pick for me. A 3 guard rotation of Kyrie-Dion-MCW seems perfect to me.

I advocate this pick assuming we'd get Noel or Len with our 1st pick.

in two days it will make sense to comment...

People keep saying that but think last season we went into the season with 3 rookies. Waiters, Zeller, Jones.
And think the year before Irving, TT, M Thompson.

yea, but of those rookies 2 were draft picks and 1 was an undrafted FA to fill out the roster. Theyre cheaper, and unguaranteed deals that you can cut at any time. So if its not working you can find another bum in FA. Not to mention they spent very little time at the NBA level.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think any second round draft pick is guaranteed either. Value fan be found in the second round, more then UDFA's.

The Cavs seem to think the UDFA are just as good as 2nd round picks. Of course the only one they have hit on is Gee, and he may have reached his ceiling. I don't see them using the 2nd round picks unless they draft and stash.

At least One of the second rounders will be a stash or traded for future assets or to move up, teams at the luxury tax or who want to be players in FA usually want to move out of the first round and avoid the Garunteed money.

I think I would go with Len as the pick, assuming its 3 or lower. I think Noel porter are 1 and 2 respectively

You could throw them Jon Leuer as well, but that was a success via trade.
