Listening to Brian on KNR this afternoon he said that Prince and Rip Hamilton are going to be made available soon and he said the Cavs are looking to see if they can upgrade the SG position, so they will call Detroit to see what it might take to get a Rip Hamilton. He said that it would be difficult due to the fact that Det's first priority is not to dump salary, but get young talent. However a thrid team could get involved.

I think also people forgot we do have rights to 3 young players in Europe that other teams may value. Maybe Detroit would want the rights to Eyanga, who knows? Also Jamison and Murphy are still the most likely scenarios, but Cavs are not just looking at power forwards. Interetsing to know that going forward!

Well, Rip is 31 and Tay is 30......but they have a lot of miles. We could do a lot worse. I'd be interested in seeing what type of trade would come out of that.

I really don't want either player. Hamilton has definitely lost a couple steps, and he's shooting an atrocious 23% from three this year. In addition, he's only shooting 39% from the field. On top of a sharp drop-off in his shooting percentages, Hamilton is 31 and has 3 years after this year on his contract at $12.6M per year.

As for Prince, I really don't see how he fits the SG position. I guess he can defend most SGs, but he's not exactly the best shooter to put next to LeBron.

Either player would be Larry 2.0, IMO.

Listen BigTawn992, you do not get to complain about miles when you have had a hardon for Jamison for weeks :chuckles:

Agree totally.

Maybe Ferry's just calling to laugh at how much they suck now. Or maybe a Malone for Kuester trade is in the works? Make it happen Ferry!

I agree that prince is not a good fit. Remember, Hamilton would get a ton of open looks here that he is not getting in Detroit. Also, he is playoff proven, BIG TIME. Yes we would be taking on salary, but I would take him for the next 2 years over Parker 10 out of ten times. I dont blame the Cavs for calling Detroit. Remember the last year of a contract of a player making good money becomes an asset at the trade deadline. Dont forgot everyone was worried about Stephen Jackson's poor shooting, and look how much better he has made Charlotte's offense. For his career he is a 45 percent shooter. I would love Hamilton for this year and next. Just my opinion.

Uninterested in both. Don't want Detroit's garbage.

I don't know if we could do a Z, plus pick and/or prospect for Rip swap, but if we could, then have Z bought out and return, and this was the last chance we had at nabbing someone who could potentially help our team out, then I would consider it. I know Rip is struggling right now, but I don't think it's from being a garbage basketball player or even the fact that he is going "downhill" now.

That whole franchise is a mess right now. Rip's played on a close knit, championship team before. I think if anything, Cleveland would then have a legit second option after LeBron. Imagine Rip off of an LBJ or Shaq pick and roll. I think it could work for us (but only if he isn't damaged goods, which sadly, he might be as well). Interesting stuff, though.

Tayshaun would be a nice player to have, defensively. He can pop out and hit the 3-ball as well, so who knows. Ferry will get the most that he can at the dealine. If this is "the most" we can get, and it is resonable, then by all means, get it done. But only, and ONLY, if Z is bought out and comes back.

but that would mean we can't get Jamison :(

I wouldn't mind Rip, although he hasn't been doing all that well this year. If it was for something with Delonte and filler, I would probably pull the trigger. I like Delonte more, but I think Rip can be a consistent piece in our lineup without the mental problems (sorry, Delonte). If it required giving up Big Z or another piece that we could trade for Murphy or Jamison, I'd probably be against it.

Edit: It would be hard to come up with a two team deal for one of Det's players, but interestingly enough, a three way with Rip and Jamison coming to Cleveland, Z going to Washington, and Delonte and Moon (big loss with Moon, but Jawad has shown he could fill in at the 3 and Jamison could play some there too) going to Det works. How ironic would it be to trade with the two teams that might hate us the most from the past decade.

Mo/Boobie
Rip/Parker/Green
Lebron/Jawad
Jamison/AV/JJ
Shaq/Z/AV

Sorry for the repost. Think of it this way. Would RIP not be more reliable then Mo in the postseason? My 1st pick would be Jamison, but I would not hesitate to add Rip if the price was right!

And we all have Jamison avatars...

We all may be forced to switch to Tayshaun Avatars...

I know I've seen enough of Parker as the starting SG. Hopefully this means Ferry feels the same way.

Rip's contract is not pretty but he would be a big upgrade over Parker.

Maybe Ferry could also pry Villanueva from Detroit. The Cavs apparently had plenty of interest in CV last summer.

No thanks on either. Tay doesn't really fit and Rip has one of the worst contracts in the association. Pass.
