Windhorst on Trade Possibilities (Tues., Feb. 17)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
not really. NO is in the same position that PHX is in and they just want to dump money. The rumor right now is Chandler for Wilcox, Smith and a first. I think if we offered AV it would be better the the OKC offer. With Chandler we would have Z's replacement once he retires...

The thing with Tyson is he is really limited offensively and is a direct product of CP3.I wouldnt mind having him if we had Amare next to him,but not with Ben and Z.....I'd rather keep AV because atleast he has some type of offense.

I agree. Chandler thrives in N.O. because of the CP3 alley-oop. Without that he would just be another defensive big in Cleveland that would make you want to cringe on the offensive end. We already have enough of that now, let's focus on someone else.

I have a hard time believing with the economy tanking, there is not some team out there interested in dealing for expirings like Wally and Snow. I guess I just don't agree with the star or nothing mentality Windy says the Cavs are taking to the trade deadline (if he is even right there, who knows) .

I guess there's always the possibility that Dan Gilbert might like to save some money :dunno:

Are you saying Mo can't get TC the ball?
If not what exactly are you saying?
Are any of our bigs making things difficult for opposing players in the paint?

Mo and Bron can get TC the ball, but not like chris paul can...

not like him at all....

and when Mo and Bron get into the paint, they have a score first mentality. When cp3 gets into the paint, thats where Chandler thrives.

when people say "chandler just catches oops from chris paul". they're not talking about alley oops thrown from the arc to the paint, they're talking about short pass oops that are usually tossed from less than 10 feet from the rim, area's where Mo and Bron score from.

you know how Ben Wallaces catches passes from 5 feet out and passes? thats Tyson Chandler.

we already have a guy who can't get the ball in the hoop from 5 feet away and you want to add another?

i'd imagine the incompetent offense we'd have if ben and Chandler were on the court together....

more improtantly, on our team its mo and Lebron. Chandler's ability to finish intreagues me. Currently we do not have any playe on the team with a strong ability to finish. AV is good at making running lay-ups, and JJ has some potential. But to have a 7'1 guy who could finish the way Chandler does and protect the rim would be huge.

The injury thing is a concern, plus I am not sure we have what they are looking for...but I would give up AV in a heartbeat to get Chandler....JJ or anything more is another question.

Huh?
Ever seen Mo give Lebron a lob?
Did you compare it any of Chris Paul's lobs?
I doubt you did..

The Cavs wouldn't need TC to be scoring a ton of points and he gets points off putbacks..not just lobs from Paul..thats a generalization..
He provides whats lacking on the defensive end..
There's no way MB would use him and Wallace together, if Ben remained on the team.
But you could use him and Hickson together ..to cover for JJ 's mistakes in the paint.

Interesting conversation about Chandler.

I did not mean to say that Mo can't alley oop the ball, but as another posted stated I think Mo has more scoring options in Cleveland than CP3 has in N.O. Heck, even Mo himself looks for the shot a lot more than CP3 would. When I watch a Cavs game I'd be lucky to see maybe 1 Mo/Delonte oop to LeBron. On the other hand during Hornets games if there is a healthy Chandler I have seen 5+ oops to Tyson in a single game. That's just a nice little play that CP3 and Tyson have together. Also the speed that New Orleans plays, and the speed that Cleveland plays differ. I think N.O. has the advantage of getting out on the break and getting easy buckets for Chandler. In Cleveland I think Tyson would have to work a lot harder for his shots, but as another poster mentioned we do lack a finisher and if Tyson could bring that edge to Cleveland it would be beautiful!

Hickson is another guy who can't score from outside of 5 feet yet.

we have 4 bigs in our rotation right now

Z, Andy, JJ and Ben.

Z is the only big who can score away from the basket. he's the only one who can play with his back to the basket.

Andy has somewhat of a midrange game, but it's very inconsistent. He has no post game, and his best asset offensively is he can be tough on occasion playing the pick and roll game.

JJ is very raw defensively, and has really only proven so far that he can dunk.

Ben has no post game, he gets the ball in the paint and looks to pass. the only time he can get offensive points is when he goes to dunk, and even then it's a tough task.

now do you see why we don't need another guy who really only scores when he dunks? because thats pretty much all we have

JJ ca

To me, it's worth some additional luxury tax dollars in the short term (meaning the next 2 years) to secure Lebron when he is a FA in 2010.

Because if LBJ leaves, the value of the franchise plummets and it costs you alot more than if you had traded the Snow/Wally contracts to bring in better players.

This assumes something viable is out there for those 2 contracts obviously, which again only Ferry really knows.

Please don't get TC.. just what we need another guy with a bad back who has no offensive game at all..

We all know the offensive liabilites that our bigs have..UNTIL we get a low post playerr who has the total package you get what you can.
None of our bigs right now can effectively guard the paint outside of Z and he's limited..he can't be as easiliy bodied out but the rest can..
AV,while @ 6 '11 still isn't going to slap any shots away and will get worked on by bigger/stronger players..
We've seen this numerous times.

Wallace is up and down..and he hasn't stopped any of the below mentioned names from roaming in the box..
JJ is too raw ..

I'll take the shot blocker..I'll take another atheltic 7fter( that can jump), that I can put out on Gasol or KG and Howard..
