Windhorst on Trade Possibilities (Tues., Feb. 17)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Jamison also hasn't shown any signs of slowing down. He has played 38 or more minutes per game the past 5 seasons (39 this year).

Also remember, Jamison will have a much lighter load, and won't have to carry a team as he does in Washington. I think he'd be a great player to have here in Cleveland. The PERFECT 6th man, if you will.

Yeah a trade for Jamison could possibly make or break our hopes of keeping lebron come 2010 because if we aquire Jamison and do not make it past boston this year or make the nba finals the following year we basically failed and jamison will be 34 by then and won't have as much impact as he would these next two seasons. Might not be worth the risk taking on his salary with his age...

Stop the obsession with cap space. If this team does not win now, it will have plenty of cap space in 2010 when James walks. The only way the CAVs keep James is by winning. At the end of his carreer the only thng that can keep him from surpassing Jordan as arguably the greatest player will be the number of championships. For example most of the surveys I have ever seen have Bill Russell as the greatest center and not Wilt Chamberlain who in my opinioon was the most dominent center to play the game because of all the championships Russell won. James wants those rings. So, if Jamison gets us that ring I am all for it. If this rumor has any validity, then Danny Boy thinks so as well.

I got to agree Jamison would be nice. His contract is horrible but his game is not based off of athleticism or power or speed, it is based off of jump shooting, 3 point shooting, ball handling, and versitility. He is also a pretty good rebounder.

Just a thought but what are the chances we can get Butler along with Jamison because of how bad his contract is or even a young 2 guard like Nick Young who still has some potential. It may not be possible but you never know with Ferry.

Jamison is very crafty in the post and he is a decent shooter. In his last 4 seasons he has only missed 13 games. I think it would be a pretty good deal.:)

If you look at Jamison's hotspots on NBA.com his only hotspot is right under the hoop. He actually isn't shooting that well on jumpers this season.

Just looking at the WIZ salaries...these guys are the biggest hits:

Jameson 14mil
Butler 11mil
Thomas 6.9mill
M.James 6 mill
Almost hard to see them not doing a deal..50mill...

I doubt it, but rumors did just come out today that they may be willing to part with their 1st round pick (which should be very very high).

Yeah he is shooting 33% from 3 points range and 46% over fg % so I wouldn't say he's that good of a shooter...Wally is shooting 40% from 3 and 44% overall just for comparison reasoning

Yeah a cap move like this would def. put a hurtin on our cap room or lack there of. But I think the only way we go for Jamison is if we get their unprotected pick this year, or Butler also....but I also would like $1,000,000 to fall from the sky into my lap....Ferry knows that we need one more deal to put us over the top and have a better chance of beating the Lakers in the Finals...so we will do something, its just a matter of what.

--In Ferry we trust

True....

But take into account a lot of Wally's shot are wide open shots off of someone else penetrating and kicking it to him.

Most of Jamison's shots come off of him creating for himself, because he has nobody else to do it for him.

If Washington is really desperate to save money and would trade their pick.... What about

Jamison
E.Thomas
Pick

for

Wally
1st
2nd

Thomas is making like 7 mil this season and next, but could be another valuable expiring contract to deal next season.

And as of right now, they have the 2nd worst record in the league. Without Jamison, they would finish last for sure. That would mean that pick would be a guaranteed top 3 pick correct?

We could either draft a big man there like Thabeet to replace Z, or we could trade that pick and get somebody really good.

Think about it. Bosh and Amare. We could trade Ben's expiring and a top 3 pick. That makes perfect sense actually.

This is probably just me dreaming, but if they are willing to part with the pick, we HAVE to do this.

The Jamison rumor surprises me. No doubt he brings a talent upgrade but I still don't think bringing him in is the best move long term. You have to look beyond just the rest of this season.

Jamison reminds me of the Bibby situation last season. Most were upset the Cavs weren't able to get Bibby but it ended up working out better because they were then able to trade for Mo. I think the Cavs can end up doing better than Jamison in the next year or so.

The Cavs can win now. They also have to try to put together the right pieces long term. There are some aging pieces on this roster, especially in the front court. I think LeBron stays but you need to try to put together a roster for 2010 and beyond that can continue to compete for titles long term.

Yeah I'm not saying wally is more valuable at but was just comparing their percentages. Don't get me wrong, I would take Jamison over Wally in a heartbeat but I think we could possibly do better by aquiring a younger player with a smaller contract. Another thing to take into consideration is that you can take any player in the nba, stick him on lebrons team, and that player will 99% of the time be a better player because lebron is just that good. Look how good Wally and West play with lebron compared to their old teams...

I assume the 1% you are referring to is Larry Hughes?:chuckles:
