Windhorst on Trade Possibilities (Tues., Feb. 17)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Some of you guys are dying to see a trade just to see a trade…

Me personally I am not in love with Jamo’s contract and his age

BUT his skill set can not be ignored…I mean the guy is a 20 pt scorer…You can’t deny that we could use some help in that department every now and then…Can you imagine having that guy on our team off the bench every night??? That a legit force especially with AV being the defensive and rebounding terror that he normally is

BUT

My other problem with Jamison other than the fact that his contract absolutely sucks is that he does not help us defend Pau Gasol in the paint at all in the NBA Finals this year…Interior defense would still be an issue while our offense would be taking a major upgrade…it also doesn’t do much to lower the average age of our big man group but that another story

I’d be on the fence… and if Danny Ferry made the move I would come off the fence because I fully trust this guy...as of now im just not sure to be honest...he makes allllllooooot of money

I have no idea why the Clips won't trade Camby. The guy has never won a title and you keeping him on the team that seems to never get into the top 10 teams in the west. Let the guy go to a contender.

To put some actual numbers out there:

Right now the Cavs are on the books for $35 million in salary in 2010-2011. That will probably go up with Lebron's re-signing and JJ. Add in Jamison and you're looking $48 million-plus. That's just for a roster of James, Mo, Gibson, West, JJ and then Jamison.

2011-2012 will be significantly higher than the current figure of $13 million, obviously. With James' new contract, that will be at least $30 million. Add Jamison's $15 million to that and you're already at $45, more likely $50, and that's before taking care of D-West.

Jamison would be perfect if his contract ended this year or next, like Shaq's. But it's so prohibitively high that it would hamper us from making deals in the future, and we couldn't trade it until the deadline in '12. A lot of money for a guy who'd likely be coming off the bench and in the twilight of his career.

I think, taking into plans for 2010 as well as now, these are the deals we should try for that are realistic, in order:

1. Amare
2. Butler (past 2010, but can be part of our core for years)
3. Camby
4. No one???

VC or RJ are enticing, but I don't know if they're worth compromising our 2010 cap space. I don't know if they'd be that much of a boost. Well VC would be, so I guess we can add him in.

Camby not playing today, and he is not even at the game but i guess it was for an ear infection. I don't know if you miss a game for an ear infection ;), when i get them i put some drops in my ear and the pain goes away so he should of been good to go. Lol it was probably just for that but you never know with the deadline approaching.

Haha, don't forget ear stuff can throw off balance. So Ferry probably told him to not go so he can rest so he's not sick on the flight to Cleveland :chuckles:

I know we are probably reading too much into this but at this point you never know. And we can only hope.....

Zach Randolph threw a punch and connected with Louis Amundson's face. Extended suspension incoming....chances of Camby becoming available declining rapidly.
