Re: Woj: Rockets trying to move Thomas Robinson

lets just try to get every King reject we can.

Re: Woj: Rockets trying to move Thomas Robinson

The list of teams that want him/could meet the Rockets requirements/want to help the Rockets should be short:

-How many Western conference playoffs teams will want to help the Rockets acquire Dwight?
-How many teams that are over the cap have 100% non guaranteed contracts to trade the Rockets?
-How many teams with lots of cap space gearing up for FA2014 or FA2013 want to commit 3.5+ million per year to Robinson for at least the 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 seasons?

If there are multiple bidders for Robinson it would have to be teams offering 2nd rd picks or 2014 and beyond first. doubt the latter happens. If it comes down to a battle of 2nd rd picks, the Cavs have the the best(31). Doubt OKC would want him though, so we should be able to get him for 33.

Still hope we could offer to take back more salary and snag Terrence Jones or a future 1st along with Robinson.

Re: Woj: Rockets trying to move Thomas Robinson

Definitely want this guy if we can make it happen. He seems like a good kid based off of what I've read and seen in interviews and such. Unfortunately, he's a bit of a tweener, but like mentioned in this thread already, he's supposedly a gym rat so he seems like he truly wants to get better and put in the work. There's no doubt he's talented and has a chip on his shoulder, he definitely needs some work, but if developed right could be a great piece for our future.

It's not guaranteed that the Rockets will get Dwight. And if they don't get him, he'll probably still be in the west with the Lakers. I think many teams in the West will be interested in grabbing Robinson if they can get him cheap. Because someone is going to "help" the Rockets out, one way or other.

These are good questions. The second one applies just as much to the Cavs, however. Would they want that longterm commitment that cuts into 2014 cap room?

I think you are undervaluing Robinson (but obviously his value has sunk a great deal if they want to get rid of him). All those other factors you mentioned above are important.

The guy took a year or two to adjust to life at Kansas, so I'm not too worried about his struggle in year one as an NBA player, especially on a team like the Kings. If in 1-2 years on the Cavs, he can grasp Mike Browns defensive sets, can get his timing and speed down for the NBA, and rehab his value, he could be a good piece for a larger deal down the road or even as a part of the front court rotation well into the future.

Log jam at PF...

Re: Woj: Rockets trying to move Thomas Robinson

I don't think they will want #19 in 2013 because of the cap hold on first round picks.

But #31? Or #31 and #33? They can't do better than that if they're looking for 2nd-round picks this year.

I could see one of the 2nd's and CJ Miles since Miles contract is either only partially guaranteed or a Team OP iirc

Re: Woj: Rockets trying to move Thomas Robinson

I would do it for either a roster bottom-feeder a la CJ Miles or some 2nd round picks.

I don't see how this guy is a tweener... He is a post-up PF at 6'9''. He is defensively sound at the PF position.

Sacramento couldn't do anything with JJ so it could be a similar situation.

Huh? Andy is a 31 oft injured player who is mostly a center these days anyways.

Tristan is the starter.

Beyond that, you're telling me you wouldn't give some minutes to Thomas Robinson over Kevin Jones?

I would probably give minutes to myself over Kevin Jones.

Re: Woj: Rockets trying to move Thomas Robinson

We can trade the Sacramento 1st that things like a Unicorn anyway.

Re: Woj: Rockets trying to move Thomas Robinson

Wait, we paid Chris Quinn money? I thought he played for the orange wedges and trips to McDonalds afterwards.

Hey! he was runner up to Mr. Ohio, second only to LeFlop

Re: Woj: Rockets trying to move Thomas Robinson

I'm still trying to figure out who Chris Quinn is. :chuckles:
