Yahoo: Nets moving closer to deal for Anthony

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Here's a thought. What if we are added as a 5th team and trade Mo to the Nets considering they really want a PG to replace Devin Harris, Andy to Denver, and we get either Favors or GS lotto pick.

favors I could go for, the GS pick no (im pretty sure someone said its a top 7 protected)

My thing is A)would Denver seriously consider trading Melo without getting Favors in return and B)does Denver consider Andy, Kirelonko, GS pick enough to make the deal.

Things could get really interesting for us if Denver really wants Andy and is willing to give us Favors in a deal with the Nets.

3 team trade

Cavs get Favors
Nuggets get Andy, draft pick
Nets get Melo, Sessions (Jersey wants a PG)

We arent re-building......Scott and Grant have both said the playoffs are a goal still

How many GM's have said this in order to keep the fans?
If they come out and say the obvious:''We have to rebuild" ...there goes the fans..plain and simple..sure they'd like to think playoffs and even plant that in the fans minds(even though most know the obvious) they know what they have to do..

So we trade away our starting center and the guy arguably has the best handles on our team for another PF? So we have Twan, JJ, Favors, Powe at PF?

And I get you can move someone to center, but really?

Another PF/C that can be a prime time player. If you have JJ and Favors you could flip the other one for another lottery pick or a star player without losing on a potential filled PF. If we are given a chance to trade Mo/AV for Favors then we do it. Sessions and Boobie will have bigger roles and that is a good thing for a young rebuilding team.

Ah, if only there was a thanks button right now. That is EXACTLY what I thought when I first read that line. I mean, I understand that Noah is one of their core young guys, but come on... how often do you get a chance to trade for a guy like Carmelo Anthony? I think Noah is alright, but he is severely overrated. The Bulls lineup, as constructed, will take them no higher than the 3-4 seed, imo. Melo would be a guy to make them legitimate contenders within the Eastern Conference.

That is because you only value Points per game in your analysis of a player. How they get those points and the rest of their game is not relevant to you.

The Bulls would be a worse team if they traded Noah for Anthony. They already have enough scorers in Rose, Boozer, and even Deng (amazing thing about Deng is people forget he is one year YOUNGER than Anthony and he was the best player on a team that swept the defending champion Heat and Wade in the playoffs when he was 21 years old. In the playoffs that year he averaged 22.2 potins 8.7 boards on 53% shooting from the floor and that is in 4 games against the defending champs and 6 games against the Pistons and Prince.)

oh and before you use the Deng is always injured card....last 4 years he is averaging 64 games per year, Carmelo is averaging 69.

Giving up defense for offense has not worked for us the last few years, has it?

Carmelo Anthony is OVER rated dramatically. If Deng shot as many times as Anthony he would score just as many points. He is a better rebounder and defender as well. http://blogs.westword.com/latestwor...errated_the_wins-produced_system_says_yes.php

Carmelo's offensive rating last year was 110 and his defensive rating 109. A "super star" would have a far higher difference between their offensive and defensive ratings.

Melo is a front-runner, but Noonan is right that he also happens to be one of the five most talented scorers in the game today in his prime. The Nuggets always seemed to be a very good team that could fall apart at any time due to the chemistry on the team. If Grgs left under bad circumstances, it must be pretty bad. That guy has been an opinionated but consummate professional for several decades.

The Nuggets need to re-tool. LeBron has already shown the league what happens when a star player has one foot out the door in the last year of his contract.

Melvin Hunt is going to Denver to replace Grgs. Part of me thinks Mike Brown will be the Nuggets coach next year.

I think Mike Brown could be a good fit for a rebuilding team in Denver. He deserves another shot to show what he can do, and he won't have Lebron sabotaging him.

I don't understand the infatuation with Favors, a guy who hasn't proved anything in this league at this point. You're willing to give up Andy, a pick and Sessions for him? I've seen some bad trades but that's one of the worst. I still believe helping NY out (as opposed to NJ) would serve us better.

I would love to somehow get Gallo and Nene (very very underated player and he is just 28..a Nene, AV front line could match up to any big team out there)--I would also love Afflalo as well.

Something like this:
Cavs trade: Parker, TPE and the first Miami #1 pick
Cavs get: Gallo and Nene

Knicks trade: Gallo and other pieces
Knicks get: Anthony

Nuggets trade: Anthony and Nene
Nuggets get: #1,TPE and other pieces from Knicks

Nene-Andy-Hollins
JJ-Andy-Jamison
Gallo-Jamison-Moon
Sessions-Moon-Gibson-Eyenga
Mo-Gibson-Sessions

We would have shooters, defense, rebounding and be able to run. And we would have a pretty young team.

I think if we got in on the deal they would want Andy. Someone linked that they were interested in Andy.

I think your right...but I would have a very hard time parting with Andy. He is far far far under rated on this board. All his advance stats say he is a top 20 player in the league AND he is 2nd team all defense PF..everyone's argument to that is "he played with Lebron"...my counter is "so did a lot of other players so why aren't their advanced numbers as good?"...and it amazes me how Andy playing with Lebron made him the great player he is...but Gasol playing with Kobe has no effect.

Which pick would it be? If it's one of Miami's, then fuck yes. The Cavs would be HUGE winners in that and you'd have to be delusional to turn it down. If it's one of the Cavs picks, then it's an interesting discussion.

I hope this report is inaccurate, but anyways

Denver GM endangering Melo trade by stalling?
Carmelo Anthony - F - Denver Nuggets
More team news
Sept. 25, 2010 - 6:05 PM ET

Denver GM Masai Ujiri continues to listen to trade offers for Carmelo Anthony, to the chagrin of the other three teams involved in their tentative blockbuster.

The Cavaliers and Pacers have apparently made hail-mary offers, even though it's extremely doubtful Melo would agree to an extension with either of them. Nets GM Billy King is "growing more impatient" as the start of training camp looms less than 48 hours away.

I doubt the report is right in the way the Cavs are going all out to get Melo. I was under the impression by other reports that the Cavs/Pacers were going to be a third or fourth team used to get the deal done.
