Yankees get their RINGS !!!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Everyone could have done it. Everyone knew it was going on. Selig turned his head, Owners turned their heads, GM's, Managers, Scouts, Coaches, Players, fans, even 7 year old kids knew it. Nothing was done to stop it.

If you think the Mitchell Report got everyone that was using, then you're pretty naive.

If the gov. wouldn't have started to get into the investigations and call players infront of congress players would still look like walking stuffed animals, and to be honest the MLB would be in a much better place financially.

The argument of "A-Rod, Big Mac, Bonds, numbers are inflated due to steriods, they had an advantage over Babe Ruth, and Hank Aaron" can be made throughout the history of baseball.
Do you think that Ty Cobb played against the level of talent that Babe Ruth played against? Can you imagine what kind of player Babe Ruth would have been had he understood the values of physical fitness? Think about the extra HR's Henry Aaron would have if he had modern equipment? Every generation of baseball players have a step up on the previous ones.

What does this stinking thread keep being bumped back up to the top? Get rid of the crap already. I don't give a shite about the damn yankees.

Wait a second...first you said everyone DID it, now you're saying everyone COULD have done it. Which is it?

A couple of other points...

- I go by the Mitchell Report and anyone else who has admitted steroid use. I'm sure there were many others not on the list. But it wasn't everyone as you previously stated, or even a majority of the league...and you can't argue someone used 'roids without evidence.

- There are certainly advantages that Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron and others had...but they are evened out by advantages current players have. The old-timers didn't have the conditioning equipment the current players have, or the in-depth scouting, or the best doctors in the world to help them recover from injuries...so it evens out. There is also a big difference between an advantage because the time you played in and advantage because you cheated.

This is now officially ARod's second most important ring, after the one for his cock.

First I said everyone had the "same opportunity".

The Mitchell Report was a 21 month investigation. There were no Red Sox named in the report, yet later Ortiz, and Man Ram, are named. The report is worth its weight in paper.

Is it cheating if you're not using banned substances?

The Mitchell Report isn't perfect, and there's certainly some names missing...but it also nabbed quite a few guilty parties. It's not perfect by any means, but it was valuable in catching many.

You said: "If you thought what was going on in the late 80's thru the early 00's was natural you've got/had a screw loose. Everyone had the same opportunity to juice back in that time. It was a level playing field."

Your argument seems to be that it's OK that he did steroids because everyone could do it, right?

As for the cheating...from A-Rod himself - "I did take a banned substance. And for that, I am very sorry and deeply regretful."

Yes, he cheated...and lied.

Obviously we're not gonna see eye to eye on this.

It was a level playing field because they all COULD have taken steroids without any repercussions. Just as a player A can do all the weight training in the world to get better, player B could choose not to do any weight training.

The point is, anyone could take steroids because there was no testing. If there's no testing, there's no penalty, if there's no penalty to do something and it helps you be better why would you not do it? Anyone could have been juicing. When they started testing, and suspending THAT's when you start talking about *'s because that's when the players were told "These are the rules. If you don't follow them you are cheating"

Let's go over some facts:

1) While there was no penalty for steroids at that time, it was still a banned substance. If it was OK to use, why would anyone hide it? There was no testing in place at the time but because of the number of positive tests, official testing was put in with penalties for those accused.

2) The substance he took is an illegal drug. Primobolan has no approved prescription use. It is the same steroid that Barry Bonds is alleged to have tested positive for in 2000 and 2001. A fairly weak steroid on its own, it is generally used in conjunction with other steroids.

3) He lied several times about using steroids.

With that said, A-Rod - to me anyways - is a phony. He lied, he broke the law, he used a banned substance, and probably used it more than he said he did (3 anonymous players claimed MLB tipped him off in 2004 that a random test was coming...and it wouldn't be his first lie). He embarrassed the game of baseball at a time when the game needed their superstars to step up.
