Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Looks like it's not going to matter.

Sizemore is going to have his knee examined by the guy who did his microfracture surgery on his OTHER knee last season.

Probably cuts out any shot of them picking up the option.

Thus, a huge pre-empted hit for 2012.

Sucks.

Yeah, I'd be shocked if we see Grady in a Tribe uniform again given this turn of events. Really it's too bad, but we can't afford to carry him with a bad knee another season. He was one of my favorites and I wish him well. Time to move on.

9 million dollars could change minds

Not these days.

How many guys who have three years of consistency heading towards free agency who would command only 9 million?

Thank God. Is the whole Grady thing over now?

I've been over that guy for about three years now...

Three years?

Bullshit, he was garbage even before that.

If you look at the available FA CFs and the amount of teams that need one, there really isn't anything to get excited about.

I know people love Brantley, but his defense in CF is below average.

With Grady out, we have to PRAY that Weglarz can stay healthy and live up to his potential.

He was garbage in 2008...?

Oh you bet!

Never liked him from the start, and if you DIDNT know he would injure his other knee this season...you is naive!

I knew it all along.

He injured his knee because Dolan is cheap.

It's funny, because the latest news makes it more likely to me that he's back in Cleveland. It eliminates any chance the Indians pick up the $9 M option, but I could definitely see the Indians bringing him back on a low-cost, incentive-laden contract.

Maybe so. But if he needs another knee surgery, I'd stay away from him completely. It's just too painful to watch him drag himself through multiple rehabs all season, and we need more stability in the lineup. At this point, Fukudome is more stable than Sizemore. Hate to say that, but facts are facts.

Dan Gilbert would have bought him new knees.

This was a good enough point that I didn't think a simple 'Thanks' was sufficient.

Be interesting to see what the roster looks like next year. Guys like Grady and Hafner have to have back-up plans and guys like Hannahan and Duncan have made a strong case to be included on the roster. Donald should probably be a lock and there is an obvious question mark at 1B and one of the outfield spots.

Lots of decisions to be made - going to be a fun offseason.

I hope.

The early estimates are that it will take 12M to sign Josh Willingham- coming off a career year at age 31, who posted a .820 OPS. With a .249 BA and more tan a K per game. 9M will buy you a lesser player than this- not to mention that it is not just 12M for one year, but probably at least 3 for a Josh Willingham.

Even before this, I didn't see the Tribe or anyone else paying him 9M for next season- but the cost for reliable and solid in the FA market is usually pretty stupid, and no, not even 9M looks like it can give you Grady's last productive year-type #s. If the club has to replace Grady, it will be for much less money and probably a similar level of uncertainty.

As for b00bies report of him seeing the same doctor, if it turns out that he has microfracture then I think it becomes a guarantee that his option is declined and almost as certain that he is then resigned and does his rehab and recovery years with the Tribe. Man, that would be a shame- but at the same time, if it finally gets the knees right, it could be best for his career long-term. As of right now, he is a walking injury, so could it really be worse than the alternative? Koisuke Fukudome would suddenly be looking pretty nice again...

Regardless of the early estimates, I highly doubt Willingham will get 12 mill per, and even if the Indians decide not to put big money into another outfielder, I'm wondering how much money it would take to get Mike Napoli.. Could play first base every day, would help the need of a right handed bat in the middle of the order..

I don't know how much you trust a guy hitting roughly 200 points higher than his career OPS in one of the best hitting environments in baseball....but I don't trust him at all really.

Not for the 10M plus he'd probably get open market wise.
