Keep in mind we are going to have north of $108 mil in cap space this summer. Even if we make Cousins and Bell the highest paid at their positions (part of me is on the fence, part of me wants to add some gasoline to this bitch); you still will have $60+ mil in space.

No one from our own RFA or URFA is worth a damn in 2018. You only resign Crow if your desperate IMO.

2019 you'll have Thomas, McCourtey (who I would like to keep), Robertson & Orchard. So even if we go bat shit crazy with cap in 2018, the free agent class in 2019 wont cost us a ton. Which is why front loading our contracts as much as possible is going to be key.

My perfect off season scenario:

Hire an offensive coordinator

Cousins
Bell
Jeffrey or Landry
Trade for Kam Chancellor or sign a free agent LB. We need a vocal leader on the defensive side of the ball.
Malcolm Butler (need a real CB bad to play next to McCourty)
Waive Britt & any other malcontent in the locker room
Sign Decker as the 3rd WR/Veteran presence

1st Rd
Draft Fitzpatrick
Draft Orlando Brown

2nd Rd
Draft all LB or DB

Your pitch to Cousins:
We can make you the highest paid QB of all time. We aren't going to dick you around like Washington did from day 1. Our line is top notch and anchored by Hall of Famer Joe Thomas. We already have solid weapons in Coleman, Johnson, Njoku, etc. Josh Gordon is back and in tip top shape out to prove something. We also now have (insert combination of WRs & Bell from above)

Your pitch to Bell:
Our line is top notch and anchored by Hall of Famer Joe Thomas. We now have a QB & WR core that will ensure you are not targeted by the defense like you once were. We have threats everywhere. Oh and did I mention that we are going to make you the highest paid RB in the NFL?

Both sides we become loaded as hell overnight. While I don't necessarily trust our ability to draft, but we keep hearing that players around the league want to play for Hue...now its time to put up or shut up. Hue stays, but focuses on being a coach.

Screw guessing for the gift card, we're going full retard here on how to fix it.

Browns coaching staff:

featured-image-index.jpg

Browns Front Office:

New Team President of Football Operations:

0728_manning-directv-ad_610.jpg

The front office needs credibility, and Haslam pulls the strings to get the most footbally of football guys around. Haslam pays him big, he gives him a little team stake, and a long drawn-out blowie in the parking lot for good measure.

Big win with the media and potential free agents. Is he experienced in this role? Hell no. But that's ok, he's a sharp guy. He has to be, look at all that head-space for a mega brain.

To the jingle: PEY-TON MAN-NING SAVES THE BROWNS.

Paul DePodesta is retained as Chief Strategy Officer, Andrew Berry is left in his personnel role, and Sashi is offered to be retained as VP of football operations without the executive title. Or make something up himself. "Vice President of Salary Cap Operations" or some shit. These guys are smart, they just need a true football guy making the final say.

They rejoice at retaining their jobs.

sashi-brown-paul-depodesta-a6814cada8bf75ad.jpg

So, filling the coaching job, Peyton Manning is going to retread on a previous coach. Guys to watch if they get fired: John Fox and Adam Gase. Or... Tony Dungy says "Let's do this, Peyton. Praise be to Jesus."

Reaching, Jim Harbaugh is a name to watch, as well as John Harbaugh who may be a shocking fire at the end of the season.

I'm making shit up, but let's go ahead and say our new coach--like it or not, he's Peyton's guy--is John Fox. I think he gets hated on too much. He's a damn good football coach who has taken two separate franchises to a super bowl.

So, now it's time to be competitive. With a projected $100+ million in cap room, Peyton says "FUCK IT. GUNS UP, LET'S DO THIS."

He stalks Kirk Cousins for 2 nights, remembers he's fuckin' Peyton Manning, and walks up to his door with confidence.

Peyton: (To the jingle) "PEY-TON'S HERE TO SIGN YOUR ASS"

Kirk: "You had me at ass."

6 years, $132 million, $47 million guaranteed. This is similar to what Andrew Luck received from the Colts in years and guaranteed money--and he's 29.

Well done...

Now, To the Jingle "PEY-TON NEEDS A RUN-NING BACK."

When Peyton calls, Le'Veon listens. His boy Kirk gives him a call 'crootin, too. We're assuming he isn't franchised again, but the Columbus-product relishes the opportunity to come back to Ohio.

He becomes the NFL's highest paid running back easily taking over Devonta Freeman, signing a 5-year, $52 million dollar deal with $28 million guaranteed.

At this point, an OL depth signing, perhaps corner/DB depth signings, maybe a veteran slot receiver for the locker room, but these were the two main highlights of free agency.

We retain $50-60 million in cap room to roll to next year and extend our young guys who have earned it. Keeping the savvy cap-portion of the front office in place, these contracts are front-loaded now while we have the room and soften during the length of the deal as we need to extend draft picks.

Now, we are ready to dominate the draft now that we have QB and RB taken care of:

To the Jingle "CLEVE-LAND BROWNS ARE ON THE CLOCK"

1st overall: The Cleveland Browns take Minkah Fitzpatrick, DB, University of Alabama. Whether it's as a large corner or a sweet-covering free safety, this young secondary gets its man. He can do either at an All-Pro level on the NFL stage. He'll probably trend to free safety, where he's what you'd imagine Earl Thomas to be if he was 6'1 instead of 5'10.

#5-7 (Texans likely spot): Come the combine, he's going to climb. He's fantastic, and the world will see. He's this year's Corey Davis riser. They go out and get their WR to complement Coleman, Njoku, and Gordon and give Cousins another weapon: Courtland Sutton, WR, SMU. 6'4 225 lb beast of an outside WR.

1442715230-AX235_69E2_9-2.JPG

#26, 1st round: The Browns trade #33 and a fourth rounder from Carolina to move up and get an offensive tackle, Orlando Brown, LT, Oklahoma. He's spotted anywhere from 10-30, and the Browns go up and get him. It's so early in the process, there's a chance Sutton and Brown could be had at opposite slots. Doesn't matter, in this mock, we get them both. This answers the long-term Joe Thomas question, but he can start on the right side until that time comes. Orlando Jr. does not take a bean bag to the eye from a hate-crazed referee auditioning for a bullpen job with the Yankees.

7853062-980x.jpg

#37-39, 2nd round (Texans likely spot): The Browns go get a long cornerback, Isaiah Oliver, CB, Colorado. A Fitzpatrick, Oliver, Peppers, McCourty, Taylor, Kindred, BBC secondary looks young, fierce, and deep. Woo boy, talk about turning a weakness into a strength.

usa_today_9630712.0.jpg

With the Eagles 2nd, (#60-64), the Browns take a guy who has been falling down draft boards, depending where you look. CBS has him in the 50's now. WR, Calvin Ridley, Alabama. Sutton, Ridley, Coleman, Gordon. Some much needed talent added to our receiving corps, with Gordon being a wildcard to stick on the roster or get traded for a best offer in the offseason.

USATSI_9056978_168381178_lowres.jpg

With number 65 of the 3rd round, the Browns take: 6'0, 230 lb Tegray Scales, LB, Indiana. This is a versatile linebacker that can give us a guy to compete inside in a 3-4 or at MIKE or WILL in a 4-3. Big time play-maker at Indiana, where he was a tackling machine and also had 6 career interceptions.

gettyimages-611920966.jpg

The rest of the draft, Peyton and the boys take risks on some players with upside. They add a pass rusher, a RB, and some interior defensive/offensive line.

2018 rolls around...

Ogbah, Garrett, Njoku and these young guys keep developing....

Browns go 9-7 in 2018 and sneak in as a wild card. Young with a future full of promise.

I've watched 2 full games and enough bits and pieces to combine into a third all year.

I can finally say with confidence that if the Browns don't sign Cousins or draft the first QB off the board in the draft, I'm 100% done with them other than occasionally perusing this section of the forum.

Haven't even made it to 2018 and my prediction is looking to be accurate!

Congrats to @sportscoach for offering the $25 Amazon gift card. Now, if you back out on this deal - punishment will be handed down. I am sure wuck's banhammer finger is itchin'. I was going to say this thread is pointless as this debate is going on in like 2 other threads, but since you are offering that reward, it is all placed in 1 thread. I would probably put a date to end this "guessing" we are all doing as some people will wait a long time to see what happens/hear chatter. I would finalize that date by today/tomorrow and make it by Sunday maybe? Enough people will check this.

My hypothetical scenario:

-Hue is gone.
-We keep the FO, as JH has promised them 3 years. Will he back out on that promise? Most likely. But I am thinking he will give 1 more year b/c they actually did draft some promising pieces these past 2 years.
-Kessler + Hogan are both gone.
-Crowell will sign somewhere to a team that will overpay.

-sign Trumaine Johnson. Played under Williams at the Rams and we have the $ and need secondary help.
-Keep JG and sign Alshon Jeffrey. We can overpay and PHI just locked up someone else to a massive contract that will be hard to dish out the $ for him. I think a FA QB will got to JAX and ARob will want to stay with them. Even if it means less $ than coming here.
-sign Beau Allen. See above about PHI. We take away 2 nice PHI players.
-sign Carlos Hyde.

------this is where it gets hard
-I was debating between Bradford (CBBI beat me to it), Keenum, or bringing back a McCown type or bringing in Fitz. So I will say 2 options. #1 I don't think will happen but could SEE it happening. But I believe #2 will happen......

- #1 - Sign McCown (This is SOLELY based on Hue staying. They grew real close and has stated how hard it is for Kizer he has no vet presence and how the Browns NEED to give Hue more time with more talent. If Hue stays, I can see him finding his vet in McCown for Kizer/draft pick)
- #2 - Sign Kirk Cousins (@The Wizard of Moz ) - What WSH is doing to him is ridiculous. He should have been locked up by now. They play 5 winnable games the rest of the way. None of them are over .500. I am guessing they WON'T make the playoffs and WSH will not pay him his $30+ franchise tag and we overpay the fuck outta him

----DRAFT:

#1 - (this thread is about takes, and it's only $25, so who gives a fuck). NYG gives us a call and offers us something we can't refuse. They are in love with only 1 QB, and we tell them even after Cousins, we are drafting one #1 to take over after. They move up and we go down to #2-4. We can still take one of the QB's they are in love with.

#2-4 - Saquon Barkley.

HOU pick - Derwin James

2nd round:

- Rashaan Evans (LB - Alabama)
- Jaire Alexander (CB - Louisville)
- Christian Kirk (WR - T A&M)

Now, this is not going to fucking happen. But that was fun as hell doing that to get a break from work.

I think its time to start a Kirk Cousins safari. Two years ago, no one wanted to give up a 2nd to get him. Now everyone is willing to make him one of the highest paid QBs of all time. Its amazing what desperation will do to you.

Fire Hue Jackson

Move Sashi to the role he was doing previous to last season.

Keep Depo.

Hire Scott Mclaughin as GM

Hire Matt LaFleur as Head Coach

He's 38 years old. He's the OC of The #1 offense in the league with LAR. Last season he was the QB Coach with ATL in the #1 offense in the NFL and Matt Ryan's MVP year. The year before that he was the QB coach at ND where he coached Everett Golsen to his best season and he also coached DeShean Kizer that year. Before that he was the QB coach of WAS where he previously worked with both Kyle Shanahan and Sean McVay. He also coached RGIII through his best year ever and he has previously worked with........Kirk Cousins who he has a great relationship with.

Sign Kirk Cousins. Don't care what it will cost. Reunite him with his former QB coach and GM.

Make LeVeon Bell the highest paid RB in the league. He's not signing that Franchise Tag guys. He's the best RB in the league by far and he's a top 20 player. Local product and he's really good friends with his college buddy Kirk Cousins.

Trade for OBJ. I'd actually be willing to give up the HOU 1st for him. Don't hate me for it bruhs.

Take BPA with the first pick. Will probably be Minka. Won't need a QB after Cousins and Minka fills a need. Put him at FS and move Peppers to SS. I don't think Greg Williams will be here if we fire Hue so we have to move Peppers to SS and put him in the box.

Sign Malcom Butler in FA

....but this time it won't cost them that 2nd rounder. DRAFT PICKS, BABY.

Its crazy how far 100+ mil in cap space can take a team lol

TO THE MOON!

@Randolphkeys you be the decider when peeps have to get there plans in to win that gift card! So what date should we set?

Draft QB with #1 pick - Rosen
Draft WR/RB with our 2nd 1st round pick

Attempt to sign a journeyman QB, inquire about Cousin, he laughs. We get a McCarron type to bring along Rosen and Kizer.

Hue and the FO stay one more season, must win 5-6 games to stay a 4th. We win 4/5, Jimmy is satisfied and keeps them around another year.
We roll into 18/19 with 75+ in FA money after resigning the majority of our guys long term. No big FA signings.

I'll be happy to judge, right after the third day of the draft. I'm not filling one out formally, I have my own opinions on how the offseason is going to go but I'll stay impartial.

The posts have been pure entertainment. I'm looking forward to seeing predictions on the two main free agents: Gordon and Crow. I'm interested to see how Gordon plays of course, but as an RFA the offseason is going to be bananas.

I believe that Gordon is not playing in enough games to accrue a year this season. Gordon will be under contract next season, being a RFA the following year.

I didn't realize that, but you are right. Gordon will be one game shy of an accrued season. That's actually a nice team-friendly move from the commissioner.
