Your 2018 Browns Plans!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
A contrary take...

We keep the status quo but force Hue to take on an offensive coordinator and an assistant Head Coach who would be in charge of the aspects of game management that Hue is failing on. Hue just has to focus on being the cheerleader and let those guys do all the heavy lifting.

Scenario 1;
Kizer balls out with Gordon and wins 2-4 games taking us out of the running for Rosen and in doing so forces us to roll with Kizer as QB1. We draft a talented QB a little further down at appropriate value for the pick and pick up a veteran as 3rd back-up and stopgap. Draft BPA and fill a few more holes with other picks and ... Superbowl, baby! Or maybe, at least a solid winning season with a crack at the playoffs.

Scenario 2;
Kizer continues to struggle even with Gordon and CoCo on board. We retain the top draft pick and draft Rozen. We sign a veteran QB but someone better than the guy in my first scenario because we might want him to start next season, and let him and Kizer compete for the starting job next season while we allow Rosen to develop. Still work on winning games and building the best possible cockpit for Rosen to step in to.

Either scenario, next season is do or die for the front office and coaching staff, no more rope. Anything less than a .500 season should be unacceptable and they should know it going in.

-I have no idea whether Manning gets hired or not, but whatever.
-Hue? Gone. Coordinator is what he is.
-Josh McDaniels, Mike Vrabel=realistic coaching options. But shoot for Gruden and the like.
-Picks? #1 overall- Lamar Jackson, #7 (Texans) Mike McGlinchey, OT Draft James Washington from Oklahoma State in the 2nd Round.

Lamar Jackson at #1 overall?? Sigh

Anymore peeps wanna say their inputs to try and win a gift card?

My best guess is Rosen at one and Ward with the Houston Pick. Trade back into round one and grab Washington.
New Head Coach
Sleeper Mark Walton Rb Miami in round 3.

Hue is gone.
Current FO stays but a "football" guy is added.

Vet QB brought in but not Cousins.
One major FA signing at WR (contract >$40 MM total).
Draft Rosen at #1.
Trade down Texans pick with Derwin and Minkah off the board.
Take secondary player (Ward/Jackson) with lower 1st.
RB, DB, OT in some order in the second round with at least one trade down.

Why the gift card?

My only prediction is sashi getting fired...

What the Browns should do:

1. Make cousins the highest paid QB. Immediately after cut Britt.
2. Make Bell the highest paid running back
3. Draft the FSU safety and BPA after that

Here's what they will do:

1. Draft Rosen
2. Sign Alex Smith/AJ McCaron
3. Hopefully cut Britt

If the Texans pick ends up being Top-7, hopefully Top-5, my hope is that the Bills desperately want to trade up for a QB.

Given their issues at QB this is not unreasonable. Right now they could easily fall into the upper Top-10 with their pick, and with KC's epic collapse, Top-15.

Acquiring, oh, say, picks #9 and #15 for pick #6 would be a windfall unless there is an absolute stud available at #6. Might even be able to get the Rams 2nd in the package.

I know a lot of people aren’t going to want to hear this, but if the Browns are in a position where the Texans pick ends up let’s call it 7th and the Browns pick a QB at 1. Then the three top DBs all go between 2 and 6, I would be very interested in moving down from 7 into the teens and snagging a WR or RB along with a 2019 1st rounder.

If you believe that 3-4 QBs are gonna go in the top ten, in theory would only help the Browns on draft day.

Just my opinion, but I don't think it's reasonable to expect a team to give something like #9 & #15 for #6. Too much. It'd be a coup to get a 2nd with #9 and, perhaps, a 3rd or 4th in 2019.

For example, when the Chiefs moved to #10 to get Mahomes, the Bills only got a 1st in 2018, #27, and #91 (3rd). That's to move 17 spots.

It depends how badly they want that QB.

http://walterfootball.com/draftchart.php

There is draft charts in all honesty when it comes to draft picks and they go off of those when it comes to trades. That one isn’t an updated one, but the updates are after round 3 so it doesn’t effect round one

Essentially to go to 6 to 9, the bills would have to give up 250 points worth of other picks, which roughly They would give us there 3rd round pick and maybe something else.

To get pick 9 and 15 from them, that’s 2400 points in total and pick 6 is 1600, so we need to figure out another 800 points. So that would be a mid to late 2nd this season plus a second next season probably.

So the two scenarios would be 6 and likely our 5th round pick for 9, their original 3 and 4 round picks

Or

6, a pick in the 40s plus a second round next season for 9 and 15

That looks like the two scenarios and I don’t see the bills willing to go the latter so the first scenario would be the likely one.

To be honest, I'd love to see if Hue Jackson is a bad enough coach to make Bell look pedestrian.
