Your biggest question about the Cavs this season

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
yup if LArry stays the way he is going we need one guard that can actually give us something

I will keep Snow because he is by far the best option

but one guy that could come in and be consistant might take us over the top

that one guy is not Damon JOnes or David Wesley or Sasha Pavlovic

that one guy could be Shannon Brown Daniel Gibson or ????????

My favorite quote of the night came from Hubie Brown:

"They will front LeBron everytime on the block.. Now, there's no way anybody is going to try and guard Eric Snow; he's shown throughout his career, that you don't need too"

Hilarious-Hube

:chuckles:

Biggest question is Larry's health, no surprise there. How long will his shooting finger last?

I'm concerned about our substitution strategy. I'm all for sitting LeBron 10 minutes a night, but we can't spot the other team 10 points every time he takes a seat.

We need to have a "LeBron-less" line-up. The goal of this group would be to just maintain the status quo. They'd essentially be a penalty-kill lineup in hockey. They need to keep the turnovers down, play some D, be able to trade buckets if necessary, and, one would hope, run up the opposing side's team fouls and get to the line.

Hughes has to be out there, obviously. I think another guy on that list is Drew Gooden, at least for his talents at the offensive end of the floor. It wouldn't kill us to run a few plays for the guy every now and then, particularly when LeBron isn't in. Isolate him; give him the green light (on a temporary basis), and I think he can get to the line and put up some points.

Excellent post up there, W&G. I'm gonna say the bench, though I think Hughes' play is a huge factor, too. But like jj said, we need a decent "Lebron-less" lineup and we don't have one. Not for a team what wants to compete for a championship. Right now I see DYell and AV as the most consistent contributors off the bench. Both at PF/C. Great. You've got Jones who'll hit a big shot now and then, and Pollard who's been consistent in his career in his limited role. Then there's a huge drop off.

So there's this motley assortment when we're supposed to have a deep bench. True, even the best NBA teams don't go much deeper than 9 or 10 in their rotations, so I'm not saying Dwayne Jones needs to be a beast. But we really go to 7. And it bothers the hell out of me that our weakest starting position is PG and our weakest area on the bench is also the backcourt. :thumbdown Brown and Gibson could be obvious helps here. Just don't know. You can hide it somewhat by making sure Hughes in on the floor with these guys, but that means he's on the floor less with Lebron, which is when I think he can do the most damage. Until we get better on the tail-end, I'm not sure we can make it to the Finals and win, which is the goal, right?

Hopefully the offensive changes and changes in the system will allow the Cavs to stay effective when LeBron is off the floor. A healthy Hughes makes a big difference too. At least in the first game M. Brown had Hughes back on the floor during the minutes LeBron was out. LeBron and Larry will still be on the floor together the majority of the time.

I'm still not sure about the bench either. On paper it looked deeper but Pollard will hardly have a role and right now Brown and Gibson have no role. Wesley also has looked like he shouldn't be counted on to be a regular contributer although it is nice to have a veteran G like him available on the bench if needed.

As the Cavs continue to grow into and adapt to the changes in the offense things should get better. Hopefully we will then see less of the standing around waiting for LeBron to make something happen and the increased movement will allow other player to be put into positions to get more out of them. The Cavs fell into that bad pattern of standing and watching at times against the Wiz but that should lessen as time passes.

How long much longer must we suffer with that tall oaf they call a Center?

Their leader is MIA so they're pretty weakened right now..Karma isn't here to call us all punk kids who don't understand the value of a slow center who can't convert a point blank shot with no one within 15 yards of him..

Call it ignorance of youth I s'pose..

easy young jedi.....that kind of talk will get you killed around here:chuckles:

Z looked terrible against the Wizards but I'm not getting into another Z bashing thread.
The Cavs can win a championship with Z at C. I'm not so sure they can with Snow at PG. To me the PG position remains the biggest problem for the Cavs more than any other spot.

im with ya there Narl no doubt about it

I am a lil worrried about ol metal feet though.....I am going to give him a break though cause he is always bad against the wizards and he is usually bad early.....I have hope in the big fella that he will come around.....but if someone offered us something decent for him (which they wont but if they did) I might have to seriously look into it

maybe if I think it then it will come true

Z is a beast....Z is a beast....Z is a beast.....(tapping my glittery red shoes as I say this)

LeBron-Free Lineup (LFL):

Wesley - Don't laugh. He can shoot so he spreads the floor. He can bring the ball up if necessary. He can defend.
Larry Huge - only because he looks like an elf. They're always after me lucky charms.
Sasha - play sasha--> boost stats and let teams have a look at him --> trade sasha.
Drew - post offense, and can bail us out with a jumper when the shotclock is about to expire. This would be a good time to run a play or 2 for Drew.
AV - defense, generally annoying whoever he is guarding, plus I saw him in a club in Barcelona so he should get some burn.

This LFL has it all - shooters, slasher, post player, defenders. I should totally be the coach, or at the very least, an assistant.

Wesley first has to prove he can hit the 3 consistently like he has throughout his career. He went through 2 horrendous shooting slumps last year, and had that rib injury. We are getting the aftereffects of that, IMO. He may come out of it. If he does, he could end up as the Jaskivicius that we wanted, they're about the same speed (not very). I'll give him until the end of December, if he doesn't find it by then, break out Gibby.

Biggest question for me is whether LeBron will win the MVP award that he was robbed of last year...

And also whether Hughes can stay healthy..
