Your dream offseason

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
guyss I think will be key to our success next year

Hughes LeBron Big Z in the starting line up and AV Marshall and Snow off the bench

that to me means we Need a starting PG and another Big man to replace Drew because he just seems like a bad fit and like W&G said we will also need a viable option to backup Hughes and LeBron...I would love to keep flip but it seems like we have to many holes to afford to give him the MLE money

PG
replace Drew
replace Flip

that to me seems do-able with a Drew s&t, MLE, LLE, draft

First sign LeBron
then with what remaining money we have left give to J. Terry to sign with Cleveland, he already said he wouldnt mind being a cav.

Flippin #2

cavs do not have any money under the Cap...we can re-sign LeBron because we have his bir rights

ew would then only have the MLE,LLE and a Drew s&t to work with

I agree with you Flippin #2. I like us getting Jason Terry and I'd like us to draft a PG. We need someone who can produce right away.

I'd love Jason Terry but the odds of that happening are very slim.

Whatever PG the Cavs bring in has to have the ability to consistently knock down perimeter shots. It would be great to add a well rounded PG but I don't know if the perfect fit at PG is out there right now. Cavs have too many 1 dimensional G's now. Either they're solid defensively but can't shoot like Snow, they can occasionally hit a 3 pointer but are terrible defensively like Jones or are inconsistent from the perimeter and defensively like Murray.
If Mike James will accept a 3 year deal I'd be willing to look at him. I've seen a lot of talk about Cassell but he's very short term solution at age 37. I'd be fine with Marcus Banks who might be on the verge of breaking out but doesn't have consistent deep range on his shot. Still he can score, has quickness and is a good defender. Luke Ridnour could be available from Seattle. he can run an offense and is a decent perimeter threat. He's not a great defensively though.

Gooden might be more likely to bring back another PF or a C in a sign and trade rather than a PG. Can't see Drew here long term.
We've talked a lot this season about adding a physical frontcourt player but I might prefer a long 6-11 or so athletic player instead.

I think Flip is gone. He's not worth investing big long term money. He also doesn't provide the consistent perimeter threat that the Cavs need. Flip was a very nice short term fill in who did provide some great help down the stretch.

The Cavs will probably draft the best player available with their picks but likely lean to adding a PG and a PF/C prospect.

Z isn't going and shouldn't go anywhere.

My dream (realistic) offseason is :

Trade: Damon Jones
Sasha Pavlovic
2nd rounder

Get: Marko Jaric

MLE: Nazr Muhammad

Get creative with our LLE, and find a way to open up about 2.7 mil on our cap situation and sign Flip Murray ....it might take a trade with a cap imbalance enough to make it happen ...but, we find a way is my dream.

Sign and Trade Drew Gooden for valuable piece somewhere on this team that is needed ....I'll let you guys speculate..

interesting take W&G.....I wouldnt Mind that Trade too much because I wanted Marko Jaric before the season started last year...he did have a bad year but he wasnt getting much run and as I said then I will say that I think he is another Big guard who would make it tough to guard him Hughes and LeBron....I guess Ferry would try and pawn Gooden off on the Bulls for Ben Gordon in that case scenario which would be very nice and give us a nice balanced lineup

Trade: Damon Jones

Damon is LeBron's best buddy on this team, and with his extension coming up... I don't want to upset LeBron...

Not to mention,

Bucks general manager Larry Harris said one of his biggest mistakes as GM was letting Damon Jones go. Why? Because Damon has a good reputation of keeping the lockerroom loose and improving team chemistry. He plays his role as a backup well.

Sasha Pavlovic

If we trade Sasha, I want some good talent in return. The guy has an uber [yes uber :D ] amount of potential that he has yet to release.

Altough I do like: Sasha + 2nd Round pick for JR Smith.

I don't see why you are enamored enough to want him on the team....

That would be great in all, but you better be signing him to plan on using him as an backup. Because Mohammed would struggle guarding quick PF
s in the starting lineup with Z.

Flip Murray shouldn't return to the team... I don't want him too.

He was a quick fix, it worked, pat yourself on the back and get on with things... Flip has had troubles in the past accepting the lesser role... He doesn't have the range we need, and he isn't a proven defender.

I don't really want Marko Jaric, but, that's a possibility seeing that Danny Ferry likes him. He was available around the all-star break but we didn't bite then and we probably won't bite now, but ....hey, it's speculation.

I'd take Muhammad on our team over Drew Gooden. ...actually now that I'm thinking about it ...if a way exists to get Damon Jones back in Miami and somehow get Haslem, I'd be all over that. Throw some contracts together and get it done ... Now that I'm thinking about it, I could really bring alot better dream scenarios together ...lol.

I wish...

Jones + Gooden for Haslem + filler would be amazing

But like I said, I don't know that LeBron would like trading Damon Jones.

First, obviously SIGN LEBRON! Then draft a point guard and big defensive type PF/center. Then hire an established veteran bench coach to help with game adjustments and player rotations. Let Flip go. Thanks for saving the season and good luck elsewhere, but Sasha has more potential to develope into solid backup 2 guard/ 3 forward. Trade Jones to west coast team for anybody who makes less.(Hard to do , but you never know) Talk to McHale about Z and whoever for KG. Talk to Thomas about Marberry or Francis for Z. Any other Z trade is not worth it. Does he have a no trade clause? Sign Jason Terry. Match Gooden deal if reasonable. There is really not much better out there right now. Everyone else stays ( we are stuck with some)and even if no deal is done , this is actually a very good team as it stands and will improve with the experience gained from a year together including a great playoff run.

I love Z... this guy did nothing but put up 16pts-7boards-assit a game... He is also a blocking machine... also for Z he is getting more healthy every season... we should find a good rebounder for PF, but we need Z if we are going to win... Z is a good defender who took sheed out of most of the playoff games... the lineup i would like is:
Z/AV
mags/marshall or garnett would be sweet but not likely
lebron duh!!!/ ummm LEBRON...
hughes/snow if we cannot trade him
terry/jones

thats just a rough draft but thats kinda how i would like it...

Z didn't have many chances at defending Rasheed ...he was handling McDyess and Ben Wallace for the most part. Gooden was on Rasheed alot, especially when he was spotting up at the 3pt. line and draining them with regularity.

Z, again, had a fine regular season. But, we must consider that he's making a large salary and is only giving us 25-28 minutes a game at that position ....I think we can do better, but maybe not. I'd look to at least see what options exist. Many knowledeable posters here seem to be of the opinion that he has alot of value and is actually signed a bargain deal with the Cavs, takiing less from us than what he could have gotten elsewhere.

If that's truly the case, which I doubt personally ...I actually don't think we'd have alot of solid offers for him ...but, I'd explore it. If we can find a deal that could fit, lets try and see what's out there.

That's my thoughts ...but, I honestly don't think Ferry will look in that direction ....which hurts. I don't think he's an average defender, or rebounder ...he's more a limited offensive performing center., that supplies quality length intangibles.

what deals could you possibly see happening W&G??? I think the Lakers would love to have Z but I am not really sure who else and what could we get back fro the Big Man

Pffffff, trade speculatioj isn't my game. I try and play around with possibilities in my head, but, I'm not well versed on what all the players salaries are and how they match up in trades. One trade that could be close money wise would be Z for Lamar Odom maybe ....but, that wouldn't really work with our needs, and I don't see much else on LA that interests me.

I'll peck away and try to find things out. I'm running a Cavs summer kids camp here in town this summer and I'll be privy to some knowlwdge during that time I'm sure.

I'd like to see about getting Campy or Austin Carr or some other Cavs personnel to come on here some time and answer questions from all of us, I think that would be alot of fun. Maybe over summer camp because I have lots of guys hanging out and staying at my place during that week.
