Chris Lofton or Jamar Butler? Interesting draft choice that would prolly take place in the second round. I think i would go with jamar cause lofton is too much like gibson who can hit threes all day but jamar can straight play point. I think he would be tight on the cavs but im not sure if he is big enough to play nba ball. If he doesnt get drafted I would like to see him on our summer league roster.

if you dont wanna talk about jamar or lofton you all can turn this tread into who you would take as a rookie with our projected first round pick which should be somewhere between 20-30. Who you want with this pick?

Any real PG please. We're dieing to get one.

Neither. Jamar Butler is a Rick Brunson journeyman-type and Chris Lofton is another undersized SG.

The Cavaliers dont have a 2nd round pick. It goes to Phoenix because of the Milt Palacio trade.

I swear on my life, last year during the tourney, I was telling everybody at my house that Butler reminded me of Rick Brunson from Temple. Looks just like him and then has the build too. LOL

Now I definitely dont think he will translate to the League however, not even as a Brunson type journey man. You remember Brunson could actually take over a game in college with his playmaking every once in a while. Not the case for Butler.

Lofton doesnt excite me at all either. He can shoot, but not with enough accuracy to justify him being such a small sg and he doesnt do enough of the other stuff you expect a guard to give you, to expect him to be anything other than a short spot up 2 with shaky ball control.

Just asking, NBAdraft.net predicts Kevin Love may fall to 19th pick and currently we're 18th. Should we take him or not? Of 6 games watching UCLA here, he reminds me a lot of Boozer.

It looks like tehre are a lto of 4/5 players in this draft. if we actually trade drew for a guard, I would be inclined to find a big for our bench.

Boozer played heavy around 270lbs at Duke and had way more athleticism than Love. They really arent close athletically and they are different players.

The question with Love is will his skill level, fundamentals and basketball IQ make up for his poor athleticism at the NBA level.

Here's NBADraft.net's most recent:
First round: 18
Davon Jefferson 6-8 210 SF USC Fr.
NBA Comparison: NBA Comparison: Stephen Jackson/Tayshaun Prince

He's playing well with a me first type player in OJ Mayo. If he wasn't a small forward I'd say this is a good pick. He would make a good wingman to LeBron if he wasn't a small forward.

Second Round: 48
Aleks Maric 6-11 270 C Nebraska Sr.
NBA Comparison: Todd Fuller

From Australia, maybe Karma can shed some light on him.

The way the Cavaliers are playing right now, they aren't going to get stuck with a first round 18 pick, more like 20's.

Any real PG please. We're dieing to get one.

Not in this draft. It's 3/4/5 heavy (even more 4/5). Maybe, we can find our Z replacement in this draft? The guards are hard to come buy, easy pickens for the teams in the lotto.

Kevin Love, nbadraft.net compares to NBA Comparison: Wes Unseld.

Butler won't cut it in the NBA. His skillset is that of a SG. He can handle the ball, but is not very good at breaking down a defense and creating for others or taking his own man off the dribble. On top of that, he does not have much size or quickness. The only thing NBA caliber about his game is his jumper.

Lofton is pretty much the same story. They may get invited to camp, but I would be very surprised if they get drafted.

You guys think Ewing Jr. will make it undrafted? It seems as if he has a lot of athletism.

Cavs are projected to pick at 48... but we all know this will most likely change.
47. Goran Dragic 6-4 180 PG Slovenia 1986
NBA Comparison: Tony Parker (bigger & less quick)
What's the word on this guy? They have him going in the second round at 47.

49. Sean Singletary 5-11 175 PG Virginia Sr.
NBA Comparison: Tyus Edney

I have big hopes for Euros but the 6'4 guard, who is unheard of, just might end up like Marko Jaric. I'd be more comfortable with guys that I have watched more often: Anton Ponkrashov or Ricky Rubio. Both will join the draft on 2009.

disagree, Butler has taken over a few games for the Buckeyes this season. the game at Illinois is the one the really stands out. that being said I am not sure Butler makes it in the NBA. both he and Lofton will both get looks because they have the ability to shoot it well but at this point I wouldn't think either gets drafted. Lofton has had a poor season to this point.

You guys think Ewing Jr. will make it undrafted? It seems as if he has a lot of athletism.

I do think he will go undrafted and may need some time in the D-League but he seems like the kind of kidd who could work hard and catch on somewhere, much like Jamario Moon someone else mentioned. another guy who will most likely go undrafted who could eventually catch on somewhere is Othello Hunter. he has good size and strength plus can run the floor annd is turning into a solid shot blocker. still raw but could work his way on to a roster.

Not in this draft. It's 3/4/5 heavy (even more 4/5). Maybe, we can find our Z replacement in this draft? The guards are hard to come buy, easy pickens for the teams in the lotto.

still there could be some solid PG prospects in this draft. Darren Collison is a guy I would be interested in. very good quickness/athleticism and after playing in Ben Howland's system can and will defend. DJ Augustin is a little on the small side but he atleast has the makings of a good offensive player. he can both shoot and be a floor general. if for some reason Jerryd Bayless would fall to the Cavs they would have a star to pair with LeBron for years to come. if the Cavs can get back into the 2nd round the Lowe kid from Washington State could be a steal.

I do agree this draft looks to be more 4/5 heavy, to me there are more 4's then true 5's. still early to say who is going to be in the draft but there are some guys out there like Love, Ogilvy, Hendrix, Costner, Arthur, Hardin, Patterson, and White who could all replace Drew if he is traded. personally I am not sure that the 5's like Hibbert, Lopez, and Thabeet will be anything special.

No way to Kevin Love. He's too soft for the NBA.

disagree. if there is anything that holds him back it would be lack of quickness but he is far from soft.
