Your top 5 choices at #19

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
i wish we were able to pry blatche from washington last summer...then picking at 19 would be a little easier

The quest for size has resulted in the most draft day blunders than any other factor. I don't think the Cavs are in position to wait on a project big man like Speights to develop. They need an explosive second scoring option at the 2 to come in right off the bat and get buckets. So without further ado:

1) CDR
2) Rush
3) Bill Walker (I'd put Walker first because he's my guy, but I don't want tomatoes thrown at me on stage)
4) Ty Lawson
5) Speights (after the other options have dried up)

Right. Best player available. No more Diops or Mihms.

1-Speights
2-Rush
3- CDR
4-Kufos
5-Donte green

We have to assume, first, that the first 13 picks of the draft will be Derrick Rose, Michael Beasley, OJ Mayo, Jerryd Bayless, Kevin Love, Anthony Randolph, Eric Gordon, Brook Lopez, Danilo Gallinari, Russell Westbrook, Joe Alexander, DJ Augustin, and DeAndre Jordan. It seems that someone predicted to go in the lottery slips every year, and if one of these guys slips, we'd have to consider them.

My big board then becomes:

1. Darrell Arthur
2. Kosta Koufos
3. Marreese Speights
4. Brandon Rush
5. Donte Greene
6. Chase Budinger
7. Nicolas Batum

1. Marreese Speights
2. Chris Douglas-Roberts
3. Kosta Koufos
4. Brandon Rush
5. Ty Lawson

Looking for size leads to busts but size is also what 99% of HOF players and championship teams have.

1. Someone who drops
2. CDR
3. Mcgee
4. Rush
5. Speights

Honestly I like each guy almost equally. It would come down to character and which player had the highest potential to develop.

I like

1. Mareese Speights - he reminds me a lot of Horford when he was at Florida.
2. Darrell Arthur - He isn't consistent but he has loads of talent and potential.
3. Donte Green - undersized for PF but he can shoot and very athletic.
4. Nicolas Batum - Athletic, can shoot and play defense. I know his best position is probably SF and we have a good one there but I'm sure Lebron and him and play together on the wing.
5. Serge Imbaka - I haven't seen him play except for highlights but he's very gifted athletically and has room to grow.

6. Ty Lawson - I wouldn't be against taking him, he's not my first choice but he would add to our PG position.

All and all it should be an interesting draft and hopefully we get a good player to fall to us and then buy a pick or swing a trade for another pick or two. This is one draft that I wouldn't mind getting an extra pick or two in the second round and drafting foreign players to stash overseas.

For the most part there's pretty much of an agreement on the top possibilities for the Cavs.

I like Courtney Lee too but I'd put him a notch below Rush and CDR as SG possibilities. If the Cavs go big at 19 it would be great to pick up an early 2nd rounder to grab Lee if he's still there.

JaVale McGee was in my top 5 a while back but there are too many questions about him for me and the risk seems too big to take him.

Right now, if I had to predict who the pick will be I'd go with Douglas-Roberts. It looks like the possibility of Speights or Rush still being there are less than other possible choices.

green is not a good fit here. not polished at all. too light to d up guys his size. not quick enough to guard threes. questionable shot selection, and in love with his jumper, and good in transition which we would undoubtedly waste. i love the kid, but he needs a lot of work upstairs to even come close to maximizing his frame and athleticism.

Grab CDR at 19, buy an early 2nd round pick and grab Courtney Lee. Let those 2 battle it out, and keep the better of the two. I suspect it will be CDR, but don't mind me. It's not like I've been touting him for a while...

He does have a bit of PG experience from back in HS, but blah. I'd much rather grab 2 players and let them battle it out, then grab 1 person and put all of our hopes into him.

I was always under the impression that Shannon Brown was only drafted because he was still available, but Gibson was who we wanted all along. We were willing to let them battle it out, and it sorta did play out that way, but it was clear who was more helpful to the team.

Why not try it again?

*just a P.S. I don't want to see the Hornets get CDR, as I'm pretty sure that puts them over the top and then I'll hate having to see them every year in the Finals. So yes. Let's get CDR. kthx.

1. CDR- fits with our team the best out of anybody

2. Batum- athletic kid, but skinny frame, could be another Tayshaun Prince..

3. Brandon Rush- the kid can falt out play probably the best all around player that we could get..

4. Kosta Koufus- He can shoot the ball for a big man resembles Z..could be an expeirment, but he's only 19 he has plenty of time..

5. Billy Walker- According to him his game wasn't fit for college..so that means it fits in the NBA or the WNBA you decide..
