Well, I guess if Z doesn't end up playing much he could always put the billboard up for Glen in the summer... Or roam Lake Erie so the Monsters have an a legit mascot... This, of course, is all depending upon whether or not he sits on Ferry's hands. :chuckles:

We all agree, don't we, that his first game back in uniform, he should start... right? What his spot in the rotation after that is up to Ferry and MB... but come on... dude should get the start in his first game... although, being the first sub off the bench at the appropriate time could give him a private standing ovation too.....

I actually would like to see him come off the bench at the first home game. Maybe send him at the first dead ball. I really think the ovation will be much more noticed if they bring him off the bench because during the starting lineups I see the cheering getting lost in the hoopla. If he does start I'd love to see Lebron say that Z needs to go last. I'm not sure anybody besides Lebron has been introduced last when Lebron has been playing.

I still don't see the importance of the Cavs giving people a prompt to applaud Z. If you need to have a definitive time to applaud Z, then applaud him when you see him first. Fans shouldn't need to be told when to cheer. If I was at the game, I'd be cheering as soon as I see a Cavs jersey with him in it.... Game time is no time for hoopla, Z isn't a snuggie.

It will be interesting to see how the Cavs end up using Z...No doubt, it will take MB several games to figure it out.
It'd be ironic if JJ continues to start at center, since that would (arguably) mean that the team's third best center would be the starter.
In his 3/17 podcast, Windhorst said the Cavs may have to bite the bullet and give minutes to Z at the expense of Hickson down the stretch, in order to get Z ready for the playoffs. I think it's still likely Z has more value for the team against Orlando and the Lakers than Hickson provides in any potential matchup. I mean, Hickson would be nice to have if the Cavs play Atlanta, but they don't need Hickson to beat Atlanta or Boston or anyone else.
But I can see that the Cavs might want to bring Z and Andy off the bench together since they pair well together, and keep JJ as the nominal starter at center...But that would mean that JJ would head into the postseason as the starter...At center. That's kind of hard to come to terms with...
As Windy likes to say, the margin for error will get smaller once we get to the playoffs, and I just don't know that MB is going to tolerate a few failed rotations and failures to box out from Hickson. Maybe it really doesn't matter until the ECF (against Orlando) and the championship series (presumably against the Lakers). By the ECF, if Shaq is back at close to what he was when he got hurt, I wouldn't mind a 4/5 rotation of Shaq/Jamison/AV/Z with Powe providing some spot minutes as necessary and Hickson not playing at all.
So maybe Hickson will continue to start at center till Shaq returns, then find himself out of the rotation entirely...
Windy also speculated who might be on the inactive list once Z and Shaq return...Assuming DJ is released, Telfair and Green would be inactive, obviously, but the third inactive player is harder to guess. Windy conjectured it might well turn out to be Powe. My guess is this will sort itself out on its own -- someone will be hurt, Delonte will have issues, etc.

I would probably have Z and Hickson split back up C minutes to Shaq in the playoffs, and play as the situation warrants.
I think Hickson is in the same boat Boobie is right now, which is they are both good and can help us win, but everyone can't play and keep the team effective.
Considering that Z, Delonte, and AV took being benched without complaint I think Hickson will be okay with not playing much in the playoffs.
I doubt we're going to repeat this situation next year though. Hopefully we win the title this year and Z will retire, and then next season we can go with Shaq/Hickson Jamison/AV as our frontcourt.
Either way these are really happy problems to have.

This is correct in that the Monsters' mascot is dressed as an eagle. However, they call it a seagull. Partly because there are a lot of seagulls on Lake Erie, but mostly because why the fuck would you get a seagull suit made when you could just get an eagle suit and hope the 30 people who come to each game don't care or notice?
