Zydrunas Ilgauskas - Game #724 - Cavaliers record

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If some stupid rumor is the reason that the situation got the the point it is at now where it is struggling to see closure and still involves some very angry people, that's just unfortunate.

I have no idea about the inner workings of the situation (which all just seems unfortunate and petty), but the first print reporter as far as I know to publish the rumor that Z had begged out of the 2nd half against Dallas was Windhorst. Brown dismissed this rumor as being untrue the next time he met the media after the next day's practice. Now Windhorst is wishing the whole situation would just go away and that Z would get over it. Nothing connects any these dots, at least as far as I have read on the board. But it means that Windhorst has been trying to get at the details for the last several days.

So, the fact that Windhorst of all people would like to just see the whole affair go away--just like many others probably would--may be related to the fact that he either is embarrassed to have reported a false rumor, is mad that something he was told appears untrue, recognizes that he may have been duped by a source, or realizes that it may be a long time until Z or Brown grants him an interview. So, it's in Windhorst's long-term interest for everyone to let this go. The media in general gets frustrated when the people who hold the keys to the story are either barely talking (MB) or virtually not talking at all (Z). It leads media members to speculate and sometimes to grasp at straws. And it exasperates them. Windhorst may be leaning to one side now (it's 4 days after the Dallas game) but he has not defended Brown all 4 days, and this may just reflect that Windhorst is prioritizing professional interests whereas Zs emotions are still fresh.

Anyway, that's a long way of saying that Windhorst's actions don't mean he's a fully heartless bastard or a 100% Brown-homer. Everyone processed what happened on Saturday on a different time schedule, and there are surely other professional complications at work, too.

Ah, what could have been avoided...

EDIT - my bad, it was Boyer's column in which the rumor first appeared, then Pluto (although who knows who fed them the info). So, many of my details above look pretty bad at this point... :( but my general point about media having quite different goals from players may still stand.

After more details of the situation have surfaced, I take back all that I have said about Z. I said that the record was stupid but that was because of the the drama that came out of it which I felt might jeopardize the entire season and Lebron's future with the team. The drama was stupid, not the record so please forgive me Z. It's a great accomplishment for a great guy and teammate. Mike Brown did in fact disrespect Z and that was uncalled for. I doubt he would disrespect Lebron so F you Mike Brown. You better win the championship this season or your arse is outta here.

Best post (Post 82) in the thread- excellent work, Smooth.

anyone know where could i download this game ? A torrent or any other way ?

This is just weird... because about the only sort of Coach that would apologize for a game decision and especially one that worked, would be someone like Mike Brown. What's also weird is that there were reports that Z did not come out of the locker room until the second half was about to begin, and didn't bother with warm-ups. That's another reason a typical Coach would leave a player on the bench.

So, yes, things likely snow balled, but like I said they're going to start un-snowballing ... and it starts right here by not letting this BS hurt the team or distract from the season. Z's going to give his all to his team because that's who he is, show some respect and get the BS out of this tread.

I was fortunate to be at the game. I don't know if the TV guys caught it, but Jason Richardson gave Z a little pat on the back when Z entered. I think that shows how universally respected Z is.

J-Rich was just happy to see someone that wasn't gonna pin his next layup/dunk attempt on the glass check into the game.

What I found most stunning, and if you listened to Windy this morning on the really big show, it's that Mike Brown subbed in Hickson for the wrong GD player yesterday when he took Shaq out after 3 made baskets. He meant to sub in Hickson for Andy, but fucked it up.

Sounds like a coach that I want coaching the most important year in Cavaliers history...

We just beat Dallas by 16 for their biggest loss since the last time they played us and Phoenix by 17, holding them to their lowest point total of the season and 30% shooting the first half - Mike Brown must be doing something right.

So when the Bobcats and Wizards killed us did he do something very wrong? Or was it the players fault?

Phoenix shot 30% but it was not all our D, they missed some shots they normally make.

We have a ton of talented players, including the best player in the league...we are going to look good at times in spite of the coach.

This team is good in spite of Mike Brown, not because of him. Brown does do some things right particularly on how he gets the team to play defense.

But he has never handled things on the offensive end well. And he's never handled his rotations well, especially against teams that present match-up problems.

This team would perform well with just about any of the experienced coaches in the NBA.
