Worst Case Scenarios

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I would not combine picks to trade up. I would rather use our picks to take chances on players with high ceilings, and then look to make a splash with a high lotto pick, hopefully picks if we manage another Baron-esque deal, next season. Also, given the teams that would be picking ahead of us, I doubt they would purposely trade down to miss on Irving or Williams.

I can see why people would hate on Jimmer...but why Kemba?

Maybe because of his "I go wherever Melo goes" comment. He'll be another douchebag like LeBitch/Bosh/Melo that will bolt Cleveland. No thanks to Walker.

Kemba Walker Would Prefer To Join Carmelo With Knicks
Mar 09, 2011 3:01 PM EST

Connecticut guard Kemba Walker would love to team up with Carmelo Anthony and play for his hometown team.

"It's special, a special place to play," he said. "Everybody dreams of playing in this place, the bright lights, everybody watching. It's just a special place."

Walker, who’s on pace to graduate this summer, has long followed the career of Carmelo Anthony.

"Carmelo Anthony has been my favorite player so wherever he goes, I go," Walker said when asking who he roots for. "I think about that all the time. I would love to not only play with him but play for this organization, just because I'm from here. But whatever happens, happens. I can't control stuff like that."

The Houston Rockets can swap first round picks with the Knicks in the 2011 draft so long as New York's 1st round pick is not the 1st overall selection.

I dont think anyone has mentioned this but I would love to grab Brandon Knight if he is there at 8. If we fall in the #2 spot and can grab Williams, pairing him with Knight, is a solid start to this rebuilding process. Also a lot of people don't know but Knight is really really young. I think he is still only 18. I also know that he is one of the brightest kids in college basketball. Pair a guy like that with Byron Scott and it could be something special. I would almost think about passing on Irving if we had the No.1 pick and take Williams/Barnes.

Now that scenario I would be happy with. I would love a pairing of Williams / Knight. If we do that, I think we could draft a big in the 2nd round. I've heard his name mentioned around here before, but I would love to draft Jujaun Johnson if he falls in the 2nd round.

It's still basically best player available with both lottery picks. I could easily see it being 2 international big men as being the best at both spots. I wouldn't have a problem if the Cavs came away with a Kanter/Valanciunas combo. That could help shore up the front line for the next 10-12 years.

At #8 you're also looking at Vesely and Motiejunas as possibilities along with Walker, Knight, T. Jones and Burks.

I'm not a big fan of trying to package both picks to move up. I'm a big fan of Irving but the Cavs also need to take advantage of this situation and try to add as much young talent as possible. There's also no guarantee another team would be willing to make such a move. May not be able to add superstars in this draft but the Cavs can still add 2 quality players or 2 long term starters with their 2 lottery picks.

I agree with that completely. I just asked as a general question. I wouldn't want them to use their 2nd lotto pick to trade up for that #1 or #2 pick in the draft. We need as many picks as possible. Now, if all it took was our first 2nd rounder to move up then yes I'd do that but that's not gonna happen. I just can't wait until we get to May 17th and the draft.

Worst case scenario?
We draft Jimmer Fredette

What are your guys' thoughts about Jordan Hamilton with our 2nd pick combined with Kanter or Jonas V?

I could never take the Cavs serious if we drafted Jimmer. Ugh, I mean just wow I would go from get Irving!!!!! to we got Jimmer? :( Worst case scenario is we fall to five and draft Kanter or Barnes with our first pick, and hopefully Knight would fall to 8.

Worst case scenario we end up with 2 talented players that help the Cavs in the rebuild process.

If we did end up with the #5 & #9 pick I'd honestly be expecting the Cavs to end up with 2 Euro bigs including Kanter and the Congo kid in that group. After Irving, Williams, and Barnes; there are really no American players I have much interest in in the top 10. I wouldn't be upset if the scouts felt Knight or Burcs was worth the pick, but I'd rather take a chance on one of the European bigs or Biyombo over them.

Am I the only one high on Bismack Byombo? I take him with #8 all day long, and twice on sundays.

Also, while not sold on Kemba, I think i'd rather him than Knight, or pretty much anyone else available at #5 if we are that unlucky.

Historically, defensive bigs do not go in the lottery unless they are 7 footers. Even then, there are more Diops than Motumbos out there. Ibaka, for example, was taken with the 24th pick.
