Worst Case Scenarios

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Historically, defensive bigs do not go in the lottery unless they are 7 footers. Even then, there are more Diops than Motumbos out there. Ibaka, for example, was taken with the 24th pick.

Or Thabeets

I think a 6'8/6'9 guy with a 7'7 wingspan is the equivalent of a 7 footer.

I may be stupid, but enlighten me... what IS the worst case scenario for our 2 picks... #5 and #12?

I cannot say I agree with that. Ibaka has a 7'4" wingspan, but I do not think of him being equivalent to a 7 footer.

5 and 11 but chances of 3 teams currently in the 9-13 range jumping into the lottery is literally .001 or .0001 percent.

Simple question: If the Cavs wind up picking 3 & 8. Would you trade them both for #1?

I heard Windy talking to Rizzo today and he said that he wouldn't be surprised if we used the TPE and the Clippers pick to get a impact player. Take it for what it's worth. But if we can get a impact guy for the #8 pick and our TPE then I would do it. Would you?

That all depends on who they consider to be an impact player, as well as the age of that player. I do not like the thought of such a transaction though. I would assume a player such as this would increase our win total for next season, and in turn lower our 2012 draft pick. I cannot even think of teams that would move an established player for savings and a mid lotto pick... short of Portland unloading Brandon Roy. If anything, I see us using the TPE to absorb a contract packaged with a prospect or draft pick.

I am open to trading the Clippers pick if it stays at #8 or lower. It might make more sense to get a sure thing who is still young or get a 2012 #1 for a draft with more talent than to keep the pick.

I'm still not completely sold on trading both picks for the #1 overall. Can't completely rule it out though. It also may not even be a legit possibility.

Yes but I'd offer basically every other combo of players/picks before doing that though.

Yuck yuck yuck.

I could see the Cavs doing that though, especially if they get Irving. Not a fan of it either way.

Honestly, we probably could make the playoffs next year. Look at how this team plays with Baron Davis at the helm...now it's a really small sample size, but we are also really not healthy. Add Derrick Williams into the mix, and maybe Alec Burks, and an "impact player" with the TPE, and we could compete next season for the 8th seed.

Hopefully that's not what management has in mind....

honestly, as fans we suffered through a season of tanking and didn't really mind because we knew it had to be done to be a good team again. But if we unload our TPE and pick for an established vet and march back to mediocrity, I'd be so pissed. We can't cut corners now, not after we made it this far into the rebuild... Just keep doing what we've been doing and use our assets, dan gilbert's deep pockets and veteran players to obtain as many picks/high upside young players as possible

In what scenario can a TPE land a draft pick? Would the pick have to come along with another player? I assume you can't trade one as large as the Cavs have for a lotto pick straight up? Or that a team sucky enough to be in the lotto would prefer the exception over adding young talent?
