Mike Brown Hired as Head Coach

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Interesting that Kyrie (and none of the other current Cavs players) have not had a comment on the Brown hiring, through Twitter or anything else.

Ah hell, after watching that press conference and the subsequent interview, I'm on board.

I'm tired of second-guessing moves anyway. Takes too much time and effort to complain about something I have no control over. I just hope they can start winning again.

Pretty much exactly how I feel. Fuck it, I'm on board...just win please.

Ha! I'm the same way. Never was a huge fan. But the guy's obviously a hard worker, tough-minded and also has a lot of class. And he loves CLE. I hope he can bring us back to the top.

In the "don't read too much into this" department, when talking in three separate interviews, Dan Gilbert didn't mention Tristan Thompson by name in them. He named dropped Dion and Kyrie and even Anderson but "Double T" wasn't in the dialogue.

To me, i hope it was just because he overlooked him and less so because he doesn't think he'll be a main part of the core. Mike Brown i think could really help out a fellow grinder and expand his game even further. Tristan has solid defensive instincts but under Brown could become a beast. I think a concept of moving him before Mike gets a shot to coach him would be a move to the side. I understand the lure of big names...but sometimes you are better off assessing before pulling the trigger. Could be a very interesting off-season....

Did anyone else think that he seemed a lot less sheepish and a lot more in control of the room?

He's essentially in charge at this point, he should feel more in control of the room.

He has security now the likes of which he has never had, and it probably feels damn good to him.

Dan Gilbert actually remarked about that (or maybe it was Fred) in an interview yesterday.

he had a tv gig then was up front for the lakers..

I think it's just out of respect to Byron...they probably feel awkward welcoming MB when Scott has been the only NBA head coach they have had...give it a few days/weeks.

Agreed. Added to that, even MB said he did not know any of these guys and so it would be odd for one of them to make a comment about it one way or the other. Andy was the only one and I bet he has been contacted or will contact the others very quickly. You also have Boobie (for now) and Z to talk to the young guys about MB.

I think the worst part is I was skimming this thread and I saw somebody posting clapping gifs and agreeing wholeheartedly with it??

He posted about 6 clapping gifs too. :chuckles:

Yeah, I wouldn't read it too much into it. I think it probably had more to do with Gilbert thinking "exactly how the hell do I want to tell the world I screwed up by firing him the first time around"? I actually thought all 3 of them did fine in a press conference where a whole lot more could have gone wrong. It was surreal, but they acted like they're all in on this move, for better or worse. Like you, I think Tristan would quickly become one of Brown's pet projects because of his potential if he is not used in a trade.

I wasn't exactly overly thrilled with this idea when it first came up but after more thought I do believe Mike Brown was the best most realistic option out there right now. Like others I just want it to work. Hopefully Brown has grown and work will be done to overcome his weaknesses through either his own adjustments or getting the right staff around him.

After 3 very poor seasons I also hope the Cavs don't overreact and make moves only with the idea of winning and making the playoffs next season. Both we as fans and the organization have been very patient and although I do believe it is time for roster upgrades, I also want that done in a reasonable and sensible manner. At this point it doesn't make sense to drastically veer off the rebuilding course. If a trade is there for a quality long term piece than you do it but don't overpay for average FA's or trade for overpriced short term fix vets.

I put together an MB wallpaper in my little honeymoon phase yesterday evening. I've heard the slogan is terrible and the obvious style will be sure to repulse some. I couldn't help the nostalgia. Perhaps someone will like it regardless:
