1997 was worse. We had the lead in the ninth inning of Game, we blew multiple-run leads in three of our losses and it was the fucking Marlins. This was tough, but unlike '97 I don't really feel like we left it on the table. We gave it everything we had but the Cubs were just better.
1997 World Series was probably the most soul-crushing game/series i’ve ever watched, and probably will ever watch in my lifetime. In any sport. Just because we were 2 outs away and how undeserving it seemed the Marlins team and fans were.

Last night it was easy to accept that this team massively overachieved to even get to this point. They ran out of gas.

Thanks for letting me vent last night, fellas. Now, for my thoughts:

This team has been special since Tito took over. Yes, he has his faults (*cough*Michael Martinez*cough*), but he is legitimately one of the best managers in the game (and maybe in MLB history). Four straight winning seasons, a clubhouse that stays relaxed and confident all season long, a young core that is locked up and continuing to develop. There is a lot to love about this team going forward.

Take Arrieta & Hendricks off the Cubs and are they even in the World Series? What this team accomplished despite the injuries is remarkable. Tito, while I was tough on him last night, should be praised for keeping this team focused & confident enough to have us on the brink of a World Series championship.

In no way, shape, or form should anyone be disappointed with this squad. I am simply amazed at their postseason run, it was jaw dropping. It simply came down to asking a little too much out of our SP. If Salazar and/or Carrasco never get hurt, we're celebrating a World Series championship right now.

Fans need to remember this team not for losing in Game 7 of the World Series and coming up short, but instead for being one of the best teams in baseball and overachieving in the postseason despite all the adversity and injuries they suffered.

Obviously don't like crossing into other sports for comparison, but this team always felt like the 2015 Cavs for me. Throughout the season, they were one of the best teams in baseball, significant injuries struck to a couple of our best players, they still went further in the postseason without them than anyone thought possible, but just came up short simply because they didn't have enough firepower to overcome the best team in the league.

I'm calling it now, the Tribe is going to win it all next season. This team is hungry, confident, and will only get better. Book it.

Obviously as a Cleveland fan I know all about 1997, I just didn't experience that defeat myself because I was only 5 years old. I'm certain that is a worse loss, but it's just an experience I wasn't a part of.

Stomach sour all morning. Crabby. Work with a slew of Cubs fans. They've been gracious (probably b/c I'm their boss), but if it wouldn't put a bunch of people out, I'd skip work this afternoon.

Have rationalized the hell out of last night. Doesn't help the initial sting. So so close ("It's Happening!!!"). Wish things went differently. I'm a thinker and analyzer - brain always "on". What if we had just.....?? Revisionist history - a futile exercise in frustration.

Cleveland sports fan my whole life. Blessing/curse. Live in Illinois now. Cavs championship made my summer a bit sunnier. Love this Indians bunch. Scrappy, tough sons-of-bitches. Plan on avoiding the most obnoxious sports feeds that litter my mobile devices ("How a Little Rain Helped End a Long Drought"). Facepalm. I don't hate the Cubs/Maddon/Theo/fans like I do the douchebag Warriors. Good for them that the "curse" is lifted. We know all about that. Talented and resilient team.

All of this will settle into the rear view mirror soon. Always does. Feels good to be a follower/participant of this forum. A mode of "group therapy", in a weird sense lol. A few oddballs aside, the contributor makeup here is top shelf. Have learned a ton. Looking forward to re-directing back over to the Cavs threads. Relieved that re-entry into nail biting excitement is at least seven months away.

The biggest key to this team next season is health.

Salazar's arm, the workload of Kluber, Shaw, Allen, Miller.

Brantley's twice repaired shoulder. Gomes' returning to form.

A healthy Indians team, even now without any moves, is a contender for the American League pennant next season.

Let's see what, if any, moves they can make to improve this team going forward. But the Indians should be right back in the thick of it in 2017.

Couldn't agree more. I can't believe how people on this board and others I've perused today are so down on the Indians chances for next year.

Look, in the heat of the moment, I'm the biggest Negative Nellie out there, but when you see how much this team has coming back and what they were lacking in the way of healthy depth in the postseason, how can you not be excited about the possibilities for 2017?

About to be doing the same. Would buy full season tickets, but don't have the cash for that right now
Same. 81 games, with a lot being through the week is a tough commitment.

I already have a deposit down for 2 seats for 20, thinking about upgrading to 40, but that just seems like so many games. Even with my open summer schedule, not sure I'd be able to make that 40 minute drive that many times.

I had to be in Manhattan at 7:45 am for a round table of Business Office Managers... I don't know how I made it but all I know I wrecked of whiskey so bad and it was painful to have to discuss accounting issues that early... That ending was so damn tough. I feel like my soul has been sucked out of me. I hope every Browns season ticket holder does not renew and then uses that money on season tickets for the Indians.

The problem is that Indians season tickets cost a lot more and you're committing yourself to at least 20 days.

Do the Indians still have that 10 ticket voucher system?

Are they upgrading Wrigley 2.0 next year? or are the renovations completely done
