2017-2018 Around the NBA

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He reminds me a lot of Paul Millsap early in his career. Randle has become a good individual defender, is an excellent passer, and a decent rebounder. If he could develop some sort of jump shot than he'll become a rotation player for a good number of years. Additionally, his shot looks good, it's just a matter of consistently sinking those jumpers.

Nance needs to learn positional offense. He likes to cut a lot, which is cool, but it tends to disrupt offense and clog the lane. I think both guys will become good NBA players, though; they just need to improve on some small stuff.
I'll add that Randle turns the ball over more than he assists. Him and embiid both need to work on that. I think it's dragging down some of their advanced stats and impact.

Interesting. I can say that makes sense for this year. Still, I don’t believe that is entirely indicative of his potential as a facilitator.

He is great at passing in transition. My bet is those turnovers come in halfcourt when Randle is in the post. That area is much more difficult to pass in and Randle seems to take too many chances.

I'd be interested to see where his turnrovers are coming from as well as embiids'.

I’ve been messing around with different websites for the week and have been unable to find this data. I may just go down in the details on Synergy to figure it out. I’ll look up both guys

This is actually the #1 way rookies can improve. If they turn the ball over a lot that is one that tends to go down quite a bit after the first 2 years.

So I just looked up Randle on Synergy. His turnover % on post-ups is 19.4% and isolation plays is 33.4%. Those numbers make up the grand majority of his total turnovers.

But get this, on passes out of post-ups, Randle is creating 1.76 points per possession, best in the NBA. He only has 25 possessions, but this number has been high every year he has played. It's a legit skill.

Do people think that GS is really vulnerable this year or are they just easing off in the regular season? Anyone think Houston has a shot to take them out in the playoffs?

I think the defending champs are always vulnerable no matter what simply because it’s so hard and takes so much luck to win even 1 title....winning two in a row is rare. Spurs haven’t even done it.

They certainly have the talent to do it and should win every series as it stands today...but it doesn’t mean they actually will.

I think Houston has a really good chance for the #1 seed and I think the Warriors realise how thin they are on the bench and are willing to lose reg season to make sure they are healthy

I think the y are more vulnerable than last year for sure. I also think we are a harder match up for them than last year. Jeff Green is going to give them trouble an Lebron won't have to guard everyone. If Crowder can get back to last years play, they are in for a grudge match.

I think with Houston's improvement, this has been the first credible threat to them since KD broke up the threat of OKC.
