2018 NBA Draft - June 21

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Mikal Bridges. Guy is so nba ready. We need to get him, I don't care.

Very good shooter with his feet set, great shooting stoke just a bit slow, elite finisher and improved dribbler. Shooting 50% from 3 on seven attemps PER 40, shot 91% from the foul line a year ago and shooting 84% this year so his 3pt ability as far as spot ups go is translatable.

On defense, he is disruptive(3.3 stls per 40), blocks shots (1.8 per 40), extremey high defensive awareness and versatility and understands how to cover off-ball actions, passing lanes, cutting lanes and can guard 1-4.

I really like Mikal Bridges. Looks like he'll be great defensively in the NBA, explosive leaper, long arms. Needs to continue to develop his offensive game, but all of the signs are there. He'd be a great fit on the Cavs if that Nets pick falls a little bit later into the lottery.

I thought more about trading our asset to trade up. I'm not using the BKN pick that probably ends somewhere between 4-7 on Bridges(eventhough he might end up one of the best in the draft if not the best impact wise).

It's either we trade down and use the BKN pick and choose Bridges+another asset/impact player , or we trade up using our own CLE 1st+other players(Crowder, etc).

It really depends if Lebron stays or we start a rebuild. Even entertaining trading Love at draft night is an option.

But still, you are looking at potential superstars in the early lottery, and you always risk picking a bust, but maybe that's the wrong mindset?

Bridges is the perfect guy for our team to pair with Lebron. One of the best cutters in college, led the nation in transition points, elite shooter and finisher... you look at him and he is the perfect fit. Miles continues to improve, his scoring efficiency and volume have gone up and he seems like a winning player.

Who would have thought Kawhi would develop such an offensive arsenal? and he wasn't as good of a defender, shooter or scorer for that matter.

Weird that Bridges averaged just just 4.6 rebounds per game last year. If that number ticks up to the 7-8 range by the end of the season he'll lose that "tweener" tag that's keeping him out of the top 10 on most boards.

It appears he's really good at making layups.

Highlight video only shows certain things. Seen a few UNLV games, because of where I live...

But him and Ayton train together a whole bunch, and it's easy to see a lot of similarities to their games.

Ayton has the footwork advantage, and the frame advantage, but McCoy has absurdly soft touch for a 7 footer, finishes with both hands already, turns over both shoulders on post touches, and flashes some jumper potential, like Ayton.

But holy shit do they need developed, defensively. Hope Marvin Menzies, who I watched turn Pascal Siakam into a 1st round pick in part because of his defensive abilities, can get McCoy trending the right way defensively.

There's very little chance Mikal Bridges doesn't go top 10.

Really? I'm not saying he *shouldn't* go top 10, but I haven't seen a single mock with him in the top 10. People talk about him as a role player at the NBA level, and I think that's fair if he's going to be a wing, because he just doesn't have the offensive skillset to create from the perimeter at the NBA level.

If he has star potential it's as a small ball 4, imo.

He's more than a small ball 4. With the lack of wings/PGs in the draft, especially the top, it's only a matter of time before Bridges is seen in everybody's top ten - especially if he keeps shooting like this.

10 times out of 10, teams are going to take a guy that has about a 50% chance at becoming a top end role-player such as Ariza, or Otto Porter over a guy that has a 20% chance of becoming a #1 or #2 guy like Robert Williams for example.

I just don't think people are exposed to Mikal Bridges enough yet, but will be in time, and you'll see his name moved up

I don't really agree...most teams picking in the top 10 are still looking for their #1/#2, so it doesn't make sense for them to draft a role player type guy who they'll have to pay before their team matures anyway. They're going to go for the guy with the most superstar potential.

Well we just disagree on Bridges. He's probably not a role player, he's likely more than that.

I don't know if I'd quite say likely, but I do think he could be more than a roleplayer. I'm just saying I can most easily envision him becoming a star as a small-ball 4, so I'm paying particular attention to see if he looks like he could play the 4 at the NBA level.

Yeah, we're just completely off on him. Nobody is drafting Mikal Bridges in the hopes of him becoming a star NBA 4 lol.

You look at what you want from each position... beyond being a franchise player, Bridges has all of the traits you want from a wing. He's going to affect winning more than alot of these guys in the back end of the lottery ever will.

OK, yeah, Mikal Bridges is legit.

Maybe it's because of the Nets pick, but everyday there's another player I would be ok with the team drafting.

I don't know why you peg him as a potential tweener and put him in that square. You are tweener if you can't guard your matchup or/and you don't have a role on offense in the same position. (IE: Miles Bridges because he can't shoot 3 at an elite level to be a stretch 4 , can't create well enough to be a 3 and his measurements put him in the tweener zone)

Mikal is 6'7, wiry with 7'2 wingspan and has decent frame on him.. On defense, he will be able to guard 2-4 at a proficient level, and on offense his 3 will open up his game whether he plays the 2 or the 4 and his first step along with his elite finishing ability will allow him to be a very good perimeter player that can create for himself in a motion offense.

If Khris Middleton whos a worse player in almost every catergory can carve a close to a star level career before the injury then Mikal can certainly do just aswell as a floor.

Miles Bridges is considered a top 10 prospect, what is he better than Mikal at?

Mikal is probably around 7 for me with Jaren Jackson 1 spot ahead. Going to watch Jacskon tonight so i'll have some more info.
