Cavaliers Trade Ideas: 2022-23 regular season edition

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The "doubt" I have is pretty reasonable, never claimed it was fact. Not sure why you're even inserting the word fact in quotes when it wasn't used in the context of the conversation. The league was well aware that the Jazz wanted to blow it up and move Mitchell (were you paying attention to the NBA during this trade?). You just don't move away from a trade after one offer. Trades are an exercise in negotiation.

Clearly Allen is the other part of that trade. You've got to be kidding me or you haven't been a fan of the NBA very long if you don't realize that.
Why would the Jazz want Allen when they had just received Walker Kessler in the Gobert trade? Lauri was the guy that needed to be in the trade for it to get done at all.

I was playing around with the trade machine yesterday & came up with this.

Cleveland receives: Keldon Johnson
San Antonio receives: Jaren Jackson Jr.
Memphis receives: Jarrett Allen & Devin Vassell

Why?
Cleveland needs a wing.
San Antonio gets the best player in the deal, good fit next to Wemby.
Memphis gets two all-star caliber players.

I don’t think any team does this to be honest.

Spurs just drafted Sochan and are really high on him. Not saying he’ll become JJJ, but he has a lot of similar qualities. If they trade Vassell or Johnson it should be for a PG, not a big.

Memphis is the only team that might come away happy.

Do like it, but seems like San Antonio comes out loosing value. Maybe add more players
Cavs = Keldon and Adams
San Antonio= JJJ, LeVert (Sign&Trade) Okoro
Memphis= Allen & Vassell

Trade #1
Cleveland receives: Paolo Banchero, Franz Wagner & Gary Harris (waive)
Orlando receives: Donovan Mitchell

Why?
Cleveland gets better fitting pieces.
Orlando goes for the star player

Trade #2
Cleveland receives: Keegan Murray, Davion Mitchell & Terance Davis
Sacramento receives: Jarrett Allen

Why?
Cleveland adds some nice pieces to balance their roster.
Sacramento bolsters their frontcourt with a guy that fits well next to Sabonis.

PG: Darius Garland / Davion Mitchell / Ricky Rubio
SG: Keegan Murray / Caris LeVert / Terance Davis
SF: Franz Wagner / Isaac Okoro / Cedi Osman
PF: Evan Mobley / Dean Wade / Luke Travers / Isaiah Mobley
C: Paolo Banchero / Khalifa Diop
Coach: Kenny Atkinson

I would do either of those trades individually, but not both.

Neither of the other teams would, though.

One is signed for 5 years. The other is signed for 2 years and seems to have a desire to go home to New York. That's why Mitchell is brought up in trade rumors. Garland is a top 30 to 35 player and is signed for 5 years. Why would the Cavaliers even consider trading him at this point?
Cuz he’s not good

So the Cavs get a young guy who hasn't shown anything, a bench big who can shoot and nothing else, and the 19th pick in exchange for a guy who made the all-star game in 2022?

Hard pass. If I'm moving Allen for fit reasons, I'm demanding either a starting caliber wing or multiple high-quality bench pieces in return. I don't think that move is out there though, so keeping him is better than moving him for peanuts.

Yeah, trading Garland is unthinkable to me. Mitchell is nowhere near the PG he is. It won't be long before Mobley starts making noise about wanting out. The Cavs could end up in basketball hell for the better part of a decade.
And Garland is nowhere the scorer Mitchell is!

You only move JA if you get back a piece that is just as integral as he is. Trading him for spare parts is bad general management.

Speaking of Garland, Sirius NBA Radio was just discussing Zion’s social media and other issues when they decided to speculate on possible trades. One was Zion for Garland which Eddie Johnson thought both teams would do.

Based on how the last AS power forward with weight issues Cleveland traded for, I'm gonna give a HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL NO to this idea.
