Cavaliers Trade Ideas: 2022-23 regular season edition

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Based on how the last AS power forward with weight issues Cleveland traded for, I'm gonna give a HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL NO to this idea.

Yeah, if NOP wants to blow it up I’d be knocking about Ingram, not Zion. Even that might be a challenge to pull off, but I’d have more interest in him.

Eh I'll let someone else grab ingram. Get me herb and trey or dyson

If they’re blowing up their team, why would they trade their three best young players on rookie deals?

That being said, I’d happily do Allen for Jonas and Murphy or Jones, which I think would make sense for both sides if Zion is out but they want to retool.

Because its my fantasy trade dammit

What is "all-star" Jarrett Allen's next contract going to be? Not 20 million per year, I'll tell you that. Even with inflation he MIGHT get half that.

And he's a poor fit with Mobley. So, yes, I am trading him for 1 starting caliber player that is a better fit.

Why are you putting quotes around his all star selection? He was one and is on a cheap contract at 20m. Why would you want to downgrade him because you csnt evaluate talent well?

Speaking of Garland, Sirius NBA Radio was just discussing Zion’s social media and other issues when they decided to speculate on possible trades. One was Zion for Garland which Eddie Johnson thought both teams would do.

Then he's an idiot. I wouldn't trade DG for healthy Zion straight up.

There was only one player in the NBA this past regular season that averaged 21+ ppg and 7+ apg while shooting 41%+ from 3 and that player was our 23 year old point guard.

I would take Ingram in a bleeping heartbeat if the core piece was only JA.

I mean I’m a big fan of Garland, but if I knew Zion was healthy and was confident he’d stay healthy, I’d trade Garland for Zion and figure out the rest later. I think people saying otherwise are fooling themselves. Zion has looked like the most dominant player in the league when he’s actually been healthy, which is rare.

Anyway, it’s all a moot point because if Zion were in shape and healthy he’d be completely untouchable despite what else is going on in his life.

This is probably too much, but if NOP trades Zion for a top 3 pick as they are rumored to want to, this would be us attaching as a third team:

Out: Allen & Okoro
In: Jones, JV, Nance, #14

Like I said, probably too much, but would love to have Larry back off the bench and 14 to use on a young wing.

So the Cavs get a young guy who hasn't shown anything, a bench big who can shoot and nothing else, and the 19th pick in exchange for a guy who made the all-star game in 2022?

Hard pass. If I'm moving Allen for fit reasons, I'm demanding either a starting caliber wing or multiple high-quality bench pieces in return. I don't think that move is out there though, so keeping him is better than moving him for peanuts.
Would have to be bench pieces. No team is really gonna give you a quality or starting caliber wing for a big man that can’t shoot, consistently score, has poor conditioning and gets bodied by anyone that’s 6lbs heavier than him.

In what world tho would that be the only core piece ? They’ve tried the Jaxson Hayes experience for 4 seasons- the organization had Tyson Chandler for years — they know how far you can go with a player like JA as a core piece.

If JA could net Ingram it’s a no brainer. But there’s zero chance.

Nah. Zion is a front court player that averages 7 rebounds a game and about 25 points. ..That’s like suggesting you would trade DG for Julius Randle who last season was a 25 & 10 guy. (Tweener, can play inside & out)

If my frontcourt crown jewel is netting me 7 rebounds a game it suggests he’s either out of position consistently or he has a lack of desire and hustle.

There is not one single thing that suggests to me that Zion is a player who plays to win, wants to win, or even cares about winnng— he literally cited his reason for not playing in the playoffs as a mental health issue….He’s fragile, he’s out of shape and he’s mentally weak…No thanks !
