2023 College Football Season/Playoff (off the field)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I had kind of forgot Day lost to the temporary head coach. Really just been living the dream the last few years here. :chuckle:
It's a damn shame your best run in over a century is clouded by the fact you cheated and will soon be vacated.

A program and fanbase that spent the last 100+ years jerking eachother off over "doing it the right way"

Very sad!

While taking credit for beating highschool teams in their 10000

Michigan fans always make me laugh. This recent blip of success has them talking crazy.

The fall will be great.

I’ve been monitoring many channels since the game. That fact that you think MICHIGAN fans are the ones talking crazy…… :chuckle:

You know the whole fan base is down bad when NCAA pearl clutching is all you guys have left.

If there's one thing I've learned over the years, you never want to be to the point where you are relying on the NCAA to deliver a verdict you feel is justified.

Since you’re the beacon of speaking rationally…..

My entire stance has been......
  1. Michigan likely broke a rule
  2. Michigan will be punished and the severity will largely disappoint most
Beyond that, everything else has been really interesting theatre.

Damage has already been done - the NCAA is just the cherry on top.

Nobody outside of Michigan will ever respect or acknowledge the wins of the past 3 seasons. You're already the Houston Astros of College Football in that sense. The only thing left is to see if the NCAA has a spine, unlike MLB.

Clutch to those memories and t-shirts as hard as you can. You're gonna need it when you go 8-4 next season.

Talking big time crazy. Like they are the new Alabama. It’s hysterical. Great period of success right now obviously, dominating the conf for 3 years. I root for a team that dominated it for 20 years. And had postseason successes during that time, something Michigan has yet to achieve. I’m sure you’ll come at me with some attempt at witty comeback but nothing I just said is subjective - it’s fact, thus I don’t really care what you say about it.

So the chest beating is somewhat comical, naturally, even if understandable from being repressed for so long.

But to your point, talking crazy isn’t exclusive to UM fans of course lol.

Also, I want to say, Michigan has just been better than OSU for a few years now, I ain’t even afraid to admit it. I still think what happened in the 2022 game was somewhat of an anomaly… it just made no sense to me … think if they played that game 10 times OSU wins at least 5.. but you can’t argue with the results, I guess.

But program wide, they have been better for 3 years now IMO (not even really an opinion I suppose). It’s foolish to think this was never ever gonna happen again.

OSU needs to find out what they need to do to respond. Future is up in the air with the scandal, Harbaugh etc. a lot can change really fast in this sport but I won’t sit here and deny their recent success.

I've been trying to help you guys out during this.......but I've also watched OSU twitter head in to looney land.......so it is hard for anyone to actually be realistic on what is going to be handed down.

The gap between what OSU media types are selling their fan base and the reality of what has been discussed is laughably far apart. Feel free to hold on to this if you want....I realize there isn't much else to grab on to on the mountain side you guys are hanging off of. But you managed to lose to Michigan without Harbaugh even being on the sideline and Stallions having been gone for weeks........trying to convince anyone that the last 3 years was anything other than Michigan rubbing your nose in the dirt isn't going to play anywhere outside of Columbus. Hell, even the biggest OSU apologists have acknowledged this at this point.

You're gonna need it when you go 8-4 next season.

I've spent the last 3.5 years hearing about how bad it is going to be. I guess if you keep saying this over and over, it will eventually be true.

I think Michigan's sustained success largely hinges on Harbaugh being extended and retained. If he goes, it is going to be really rocky.......because even though OSU fans love that some of his records are still lopsided, from cleaning up the nuclear wasteland that was the program, he's easily one of the 5 best coaches in CFB........and there's just not another one of him walking through the door.

Setting aside all the tongue in cheek back and forth, kind of a fascinating off-season for OSU. We are a few weeks removed from the McCord thing and it is trending away from OSU getting one of the top portal guys. And now they have spun in to Devin Brown gas up season (who lost a QB competition to McCord) and Day might be staring at a 1st year starter against Michigan, in a must win game. And it will be a Michigan defense with a lot of talent and experience back.

Maybe some of the risk is mitigated if there are a few surprise returnees but OSU is going to experience a large amount of turnover, in a season their coach really needs to deliver. They definitely got insanely lucky with how the schedule broke, that is for sure. If they had received Michgan's schedule, would have been a really wild ride early on.

How do you feel today? About the off-season?

Won’t speculate any further on Harbaugh as we just don’t know what will happen. If he leaves, Michigan is going to be in a tough spot. If be stays, then they should remain very good although the 2024 slate is a gauntlet so I could see drop off especially if JJ leaves.

For us: Think it’s a pretty fair assessment because ultimately I think OSU’s 2024 season will go as the QB situation goes. Devin Brown is being shaded a lot but I think we need to remember how highly touted he was as a prospect and how little we’ve really seen of him. Lots of people acting like he was a 3 star bum or something. I think McCord being in the program 3 years is the primary reason he was able to win the job.

Nevertheless, he’d still be a first year starter and a young player, and no matter how talented the growing pains will be there which is worrisome. Road vs OR will be super tough. Pointless speculating about the Michigan game because it’s at the end of the season and by then Brown could either be a dud or a star. Who knows? But the unknown certainly isn’t a great feeling going into a year where Day has to beat UM, agreed.

Until I know who is staying kinda pointless to talk about rest of the team too. Like if Henderson comes back I feel good about the RB room especially with Hayden there. Guys like JT, Hancock, Sawyer etc on defense too. We just don’t know yet.

Day needs to evolve his coaching staff too and I don’t know what that looks like, but the status quo needs to change. Bringing in another fantastic top 2 recruiting class which should keep the cupboard stocked talent wise but I think we’re seeing how important coaching is as of late.

Ignoring the Texas game for a moment (simply because it was scheduled and not randomly generated) is Michigan's B1G schedule really that much more difficult?

Michigan
Week 4, Game 4: USC
Week 6, Game 6: @ Washington
Week 10, Game 9: Oregon

Ohio State

Week 6, Game 5: Iowa
Week 7, Game 6: @ Oregon
Week 10, Game 8: @ Penn State

Won't pretend to be super well-versed on what these former PAC teams are bringing back / who their QBs will be (other than Gabriel at Oregon) but I'd argue @ Oregon and @ Penn State are the most difficult games of the 6 above. Ohio State with a new QB definitely benefits from having those later on in the season though but if I were a Michigan fan I wouldn't be particularly worried about USC Week 4.

OSU has 3 games on their schedule they could realistically lose. 9 wins seems like the absolute floor for them, 10 wins seems likely.

For Michigan to get to 10 wins they are going to have to beat 3 of Texas, USC, @Washington, Oregon and @OSU.

Out of those 5 more talent heavy programs, 3 of the games come in the first 6 weeks of the season.

A lot will be determined by transfer portal and returnees…..but Michigan has a schedule where I think 7-8 wins could be the floor…..and something like 10 wins seems like a really, really, really good season.
