Monta Ellis and possible other players/deals Cavs could get tomorrow night

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Indiana??

Cavs:
Ellis
Kelenna Azubuike
6th pick

Pacers:
Mo Williams

Warriors:
TJ Ford (8.5m exp.)
Delonte West (4.5m exp., only 500k guaranteed)

Indiana popped right in my head when you said this. Supposedly they want to move the 10th pick for a pg. Well this will allow them to keep it.

I think this is how a trade like this would generally work, just not sure GS would give up quite that much for just expirings. And I think Indi would give up more for Mo than just expirings. But again, I think this is a solid groundwork for a trade that might make sense for all parties.

The only way Golden State could justify that trade is if they end up with Indiana's 10th pick as well. Then, they can attempt to argue that the guy they wanted was still going to be around at the 10th pick.

I'm picturing something a little simpler like...

Cleveland gets Ellis, 6

Indi gets Mo

GS gets TJ Ford (expiring), 10

Monta Ellis is a gangster scorer though. Dude can drop points with no problem.

At least a team with Mo, Monta, Hickson, Twan, and VJ would be a lot of fun to watch.

Lets not forget that if you have Monta down to 18 to 20 PPG, his shooting percentage goes up to around 48 to 49 percent which is freaking amazing for a guard.

Getting Monta really closes the gap between Chicago and Rose.

I mean we would essentially be adding him for nothing, plus the 6 pick. I dont see how you dont do that deal.

Not saying you're right or wrong, but how exactly do you know that. Logic states that may be the case, but it's far from a guarantee.

Mo isn't enough for Indiana to give up their pick. Otherwise we might have already traded Mo directly to the Pacers for the 10th.

Indiana trades an $8.5 million expiring and #10 to get Mo Williams?

Don't see that happening.

In regards to Mo not being worth the 10th pick. A lot of times it depends on team needs. Larry Bird wants to add a pg who could help them be a playoff contender. They aren't gonna find one in the draft, and i doubt that there are many attainable as good as Mo. He would also be a great fit with Granger, and i would argue that they could probably fight for one of the lower playoff seeds with Mo. And yes they are using a valuable expiring, but look at their roster. They would have 30m dollars worth of expirings "after" trading Ford. Ford is also a guy who isn't happy there because he wasn't fitting in and lost his starting spot to Earl freaking Watson. So i could see the Pacers being interested. Mo is arguably a top 10-15 pg in this league and still pretty young...

Agree. Not saying that IND would jump all over it, but due to the financial aspect of giving up TJ's expiring and taking on Mo. However, from a talent standpoint - flip it around, would you trade Mo for the 10th pick?

Half this forum (and I agree) was arguing against moving Mo for Sac's #5 unless it was followed up with another move for Collison (or other talented PG) - outside of the top 5 it would be tough to get equal value for a 28 year old top 15 PG. IND could at least make a compelling argument to their fans that #10 for Mo is a net win.

Cavs get:
#6 pick
Monta Ellis

Pacers get:
Mo Williams
Ronny Turiaf

Warriors get:
TJ Ford
Jeff Foster
#10 pick

Only way I can think of getting the Warriors expirings.

:)

PDcavsinsider Sources say #Cavs had talks but not close to anything currently with Mo Williams. This may be a quiet day for them.
