#185 - Caleb Brantley, DT, Florida

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Ok, then let's just disagree on the level of the infraction. "Poorly worded" isn't harsh enough. Wreckless journalism or intentionally misleading for effect are how I see it. There are people reading this who know less about law than I do, and it gives them an incredibly misleading perspective into where we are at in this legal matter.

Then Q tip comes in here and doesn't answer the damn question. Bastard.

Oh, I entirely agree. I wasn't aware that was the point you wanted to make.

He's going to walk off with no problem. This was a non-story.

Story said that she fired her attorneys. That's generally not a good look. You'd also have to wonder why she needed attorneys at all. I mean, normally, someone who is the victim of an assault files a police report, and the case is handled by prosecutors.

So gee, I wonder why she might need her own counsel....

I mean how can anyone read this and the previous accounts earlier and not think he may be cleared here.

It's all about $$$$$. That's obvious from the lawyer-shopping. My guess is that the attorneys told her that it wasn't the gold mine she may have thought, so she fired them.

I don't know that, but I've done this kind of stuff for long enough to read tea leaves pretty well.

What if the Browns hired her to cause a scene to make him drop? :chuckle: :detective:

Obviously, I'm being sarcastic, but I could see a team stooping this low to make a guy drop to them someday.

I cant. Things come out and that entire front office would be fired and sentenced with a crime if that happened.

It is funny to joke about, but no way a team would ever do that.

Brantley was accused of misdemeanor battery for allegedly punching a woman in the face. He has yet to be charged. The woman just recently fired her lawyers and Brantley's attorney expects a "resolution very soon in Mr. Brantley's favor."

Well THAT would suck... for the media talking heads who are grilling the Browns front office for not knowing what they are doing by drafting a guy who would do such a thing.

(Guess they missed the point that the Browns only drafted him and haven't paid Brantley anything yet, AND publicly announced they would cut him if the charges are true.)

Stupid baseball analytics people must be stupid.

No, you're missing the hedge! Even if he's not found to be responsible in this situation, he's still a bad guy!

I saw that Roger Goodell made a move inconsistent with the past regarding the Conley fiasco, choosing to let the courts handle his rather than the NFL serving as judge and jury in the pre-draft process. This is a wise move. It's becoming clear the past three drafts that top prospects are becoming victims of extortion as often as they are committing any type of transgression. I can't feel too badly for athletes who have had everything handed to them in their college careers so far, but the stories of entrapment attempts are becoming an issue.

It doesn't really make much sense to extort the player before they're rich. For the player, even if you settle or it gets dismissed, you're dropping in the draft just due to the implication. Kind of takes away the incentive to settle with the "victim" for money.

Just more proof of just how dumb women are in general.

I doubt that's how it goes in the moment. Usually there's alcohol involved for one or more parties. A setting like that means somebody will take a few wild chances, either the accusor, the accused, or both. Take this situation for example. Brantley shows up after midnight at a bar where some ex-girlfriend is with her friends. They know he is about to be a richer man in about three weeks. Who knows how right a mind Brantley had at that time of night, but safe to say the women had a few drinks and knew exactly what would cause a confrontation. It's bad all around and likely not what cooler heads would agree to do mid-Friday afternoon while at work.

I don't think the woman was the ex girlfriend she was a friend of the Ex girlfriend.

There was no domestic abuse aspect to this case at all
