Renouncing Walton doesn't prevent the Cavs from signing him to a vet-minimum contract (if they want him and he's willing).

There might be other ways to sign him as well (Room MLE), although its seems unlikely the Cavs would want to pay more (after paying him $6M last season). Larry Coon writes that "teams are still permitted to re-sign renounced players, but only with cap room or an exception other than the Bird exception."

From Kevin Pelton: Most likely to claim Ayon, in waiver order: PHI, UTA, GSW, LAC. ATL and CLE could also make it happen but unlikely.

Say what you want abount Ayon, but he can be as disruptive as Varejao on defense and his 28 year old knees seem a lot younger than Bynum's 25 year old knees.

He wouldn't have been a good fit on the Cavs as long as Varejao is on the team, but it is still a good pickup for Ferry.

How about a blast from our and Mike Brown's past? Drew Gooden. Not the kind of guy you'd want playing big minutes, but he's always been a good teammate and would represent a low-cost insurance policy in the (likely) event one or two of the bigs go down. I'm prepared for the brickbats.

Yes I was thinking that bringing back Drew was not enough. Lets start a Ricky Davis safari. Then bring back Ronny Duncan as PA announcer. Demote Max back to nacho vendor. Lets all move back to where we were living in 2005 as well . That will do it!
