what happened to Al Harrington? He had a solid season 2 years ago (14/6 PER 15.3, all above his career averages), then barely played last year.

How about a blast from our and Mike Brown's past? Drew Gooden. Not the kind of guy you'd want playing big minutes, but he's always been a good teammate and would represent a low-cost insurance policy in the (likely) event one or two of the bigs go down. I'm prepared for the brickbats.

Please no. The guy doesn't know why he has part of the back of his head shaved. I could argue throwing passes off his hands helped make Lebron wonder if everyone was as big a dunce and go elsewhere.

He might've made a shot from behind the basket (waived off) once? That was kinda cool. My god no otherwise.

Edit: Or wait is it not shaved? That circle has it become a pony tail. Either way he cannot handle his own hygeine let alone a bunny pass. I bet in a y game he would blow an assignment if he played with 4 other posters before we did and probably have a ball hit him in the head and hands several times. Choose whatever posters you like.

I honestly think 3 years ago I could've beaten him in a game of Horse at CSU's gym.

No, please god no. All he could do was rebound....kind of.

Our front-court is full as it is. We don't need any more PF/C right now.

We can still use another center. Bynum has serious concerns and the Cavs have to recognize the possibility he might not play a game. Varejao has injury issues as well and Zeller looked pretty terrible in Summer League. Adding a vet center who can play a few productive minutes in case of an injury would be a good move. We are trying to make the playoffs and having a deep bench is crucial to reach that goal. Especially with as many injury questions as we have.

Good point. If Bynum or Varejao gets hurt during the year that does mean more minutes to Zeller. While I'm not opposed to seeing Zeller get more minutes it's not something that I would like to see. Adding a veteran center who could play productive minutes if someone gets injured would be a good idea but I don't feel like Harrington would be worth the money we give him. If Varejao and Bynum play the majority of our game, Harrington would like only see 5-6 minutes a night. He's still a solid player too so playing him so sparingly coupled with having to pay him a decent amount is a bad investment imo. And he'd also be undersized at the 5 spot. He's only 6'9 + he'd probably be paired with Bennett who is also undersized for the 4 spot. He's a good player but I don't see the need in getting him right now.

Fixed your post for you.

Let me take a second to ponder the 2013 front court rotation. Back in the day, Mike Brown liked to do a 4 man front court rotation when he had 4 healthy front court players. That's a deep rotation for a team with playoff aspirations. I expect we will see a 4 man front court rotation even when there are injuries.

So right now, the Cavs have 6 guys that can play in the front court: Bynum, Varejao, Bennett, Thompson, Clark, and Zeller.

Even if both Varejao and Bynum are out, the Cavs still have a 4 man front court rotation using Zeller & Clark. Front court injuries will likely open up more playing time at the wing instead of requiring more front court players.

Where does that leave free agency?

It's going to be hard to sell a Vet free agent on the Cavs because 1) it's going to be hard to find minutes and 2) this team isn't a proven championship contender. That leaves only a "worn out mentor" type signing for a vet or another "signed to be waived" player who will go directly to Cavs the D-league affiliate with some extra money in his pocket as soon as the season starts arrangement

What vets are left? Przybilla?

I expect will see another Micheal Eric type signing this year. I'm sure they'll put in a bid on Jack Cooley, the Harangody look alike.

If so, then sure. All we really need is a big vet.

What about Shavlik Randolph UFA, last years salary 280k. Not a star but looked pretty good last year for Boston. We are talking backup for the backups. Hey Shavlik might even beat out a backup.

We still need shooters for this roster; unless Grant is REALLY confident in our big men staying healthy.

part of me wishes we still retained Ellington, but it made sense not to tie up cap space to him...would rather have jack anyway, although both would have been great

No idea why we'd want Ellington at this point. Irving, Waiters, Jack, Karasev, and Miles all deserve minutes over him in the backcourt.

Miles deserves minutes over Ellington? Karasev, who has not played a minute in the league, deserves minutes over Ellington?
