2017-18 Cleveland Indians Offseason

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Probably a move they make if they trade Kip that they are making sure to keep touching base on. Cubs and Indians have had conversations on players with each other every off season the last 3 or 4 years.

Keeping Jose at 2B isn't set in stone, because Kipnis not being on the roster isn't set in stone, and Kipnis playing OF if he stays isn't set in stone. Lot of stuff up in the air still.

Also...don't disregard what acquiring Baez, who is very close with Lindor, does for our chances in getting him to extend.

Wet.

Baez covering second on Gomes/Berto throw downs?

Astros were one of the teams in on Bryan Shaw.

Would you guys deal Zimmer for Yelich? Considering that we already know Yelich is a consistent 4 WAR player and Zimmer 's bat is still an unknown, I think I would make that trade especially with Yelich being under contract for so long.

I definitely would; they're the same age and Yelich is much better.

But while Yelich's contract is good value for a player of his caliber, it's still $58m over the next 5 and could affect any further spending for a cap conscious team. Zimmer still has 2 more years of $500k because he hits arbitration and that's pretty valuable.

$27m over 3 for Shaw and Reed

Was optimistic we would re-sign Smith but he could be out of our price range too with the way things are going.

Glad he ended up on a borderline NL playoff team and not on a AL contender.

$9 mil a year for Shaw. Wow.

Gonna miss 2017 Bryan Shaw. He pitched massive important innings and was very good.

Time for others to step up

Bryan Shaw's tenure with the Tribe:

2013: 70 GP, 3.24 ERA
2014: 80 GP, 2.59 ERA
2015: 74 GP, 2.95 ERA
2016: 75 GP, 3.24 ERA
2017: 79 GP, 3.52 ERA

Going to be hard to replace that workload and consistency.
