2017-18 Cleveland Indians Offseason

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Bryan Shaw's tenure with the Tribe:

2013: 70 GP, 3.24 ERA
2014: 80 GP, 2.59 ERA
2015: 74 GP, 2.95 ERA
2016: 75 GP, 3.24 ERA
2017: 79 GP, 3.52 ERA

Going to be hard to replace that workload and consistency.

Yet a ton of Indians fans hated him, hence why he is long gone cause of the fans and cause of the money offer. I think he would have stayed under different circumstances.

Shaw was infuriating at times but overall a work horse and pretty productive. Indians have some work to do this winter...can't come back with the same crew minus santana and Bruce

Especially after the way the season ended, this would be incredibly deflating.

Antonetti always seems to be aggressive...feel way better about him than Shapiro

If you're confident Ozuna can reproduce his 2017 season, I'd take him over Yelich. Better and likely a decent amount cheaper.

Not true.

Ozuna is arbitration eligible this season and next-- He's projected to get $11M this season.

Indians wouldn't trade for him unless they can extend him and buyout his remaining arbitration years so you're looking at any deal starting at $10M+. Add in the yearly escalators and now he's much more expensive than Yelich.

If I'm giving up a highly rated prospect, it's Yelich all day. Better contract, much more consistent performance history and no personality red flags.

Would be a nice addition. Would it be to replace Kipnis or play him at 3rd?

Losing the production of Bruce and or Santana is gonna be tough. Adding Kipnis to that mix, even with Baez will put us in a bit of a jam.

We basically had zero production from Kipnis last year and reeled off 102 wins, so I'm not worried about that at all. But yes, losing both Bruce and Santana would suck hard.

I swear this same offer was bandied about a few years ago.... Tribe fans uniformly guffawed. I'm not sure what all to make of it- I think Salazar is a walking TJ surgery but Baez still doesbt make enough contact. It may help keep Lindor though adding one if his PR buddies. Maybe Lindor and Baez could do the fusion dance and turn into Carlos Correa.
