2017-18 Cleveland Indians Offseason

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Cubs asked on Salazar, Indians countered with Baez and prospect. BTW

......

Indians are feeling teams out on value for Salazar. I don't think they deal them. As someone mentioned earlier, the team does this every year. The Cubs really like Salazar which is a reason I don't move him. Too much talent to give up for a solid player. You need all star level talent in return for Salazar.

Salazar hasn't been what we needed when we needed him most for two years now, when the Indians were in contention. Baez is a young player still improving at a position where Kipnis is getting older and breaking down injury wise. Plus a prospect? Depends on the prospect I guess, but I'd heavily consider it.

Unless Salazar is a reliever going forward 100%, and we see him as a vital bullpen piece?

Bringing Joe Smith back should also be a high priority for this front office considering how lethal he is against RHB including the 2,3,4 hitters in pinstripes in Judge, Stanton and Sanchez.

Baez really isn't that great right now but he's like 24 and was highly drafted wasn't he? He has a ton of talent, is it unfeasible he grows into a star still? And even if he only improves slightly from where he is, I think he's a better than average young player.

Any word on what the Cards gave up for Ozuna? Curious as it should give the baseline + of what they'll want for Yelich.

Terry Pluto was on 92.3 this morning and mentioned Joe Smith has some arm injuries that teams are a little nervous about. He’ll still get a nice pay day though. Same goes with Austin Jackson, his knee isn’t 100%. This is all according to Pluto

Are multi-team trades very common in MLB?

Wonder if we could work something out like the following:

Indians get: Yelich, Baez
Cubs get: Salazar, Kipnis
Marlins get: Prospects (maybe one from us and a couple from the Cubs)

Do the Cubs have any notable prospects left though?

Why are we selling? We should be adding to the rotation not taking away from it for the future.
