2017-18 Cleveland Indians Offseason

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Twins just added Logan Morrison for 1 year, 6.5m. Wow. Wonder if the Tribe offered him what they eventually gave to Alonso and he turned it down. Twins getting a bargain. Him and Odorizzi are apparently recruiting Cobb to go there too.

Twins lineup is pretty damn good and Dozier always gives us problems. LoMo will give them an obvious boost, but pitching still remains their downfall in a central division battle.

Twins played the market beautifully. Think they'll also get in on one more starting pitcher and a bullpen arm too.

Their bullpen is atrocious.

The market right now actually really favors a smaller market team since good talent is now available at affordable prices.

I am actually surprised we haven't brought in more guys in free agency overall since there is a ton of talent available. I mean part of me says, why not go get a Carlos Gonzalez?

Because he's not as good as Lonnie Chisenhall and fits nowhere right now.

I thought they'd be in on maybe a bullpen arm like Holland if the price came down. Not sure that's the case now that Belisle and Taylor were brought in, though at this point you never really know.

Weird market, never seen anything like it.

I think the Indians are probably done making moves unless there's a significant injury or a trade. Mike Moustakas on a 1 year deal would be intriguing, but I think he'd go to NY first if he was willing to go one year.

I'd have interest in Trevor Rosenthal on a two-year deal or a one-year deal with an option, paying a low price in 2018 and giving us a possible late-inning option in 2019.

I'd also have interest in Alex Cobb or Lance Lynn if we moved Danny Salazar in a Spring Training deal.

This is a weird market and of course the players are complaining about it, but either the players have to take a lesser contract or they won't be signed this off season.

Really what I was suggesting was the fact there is talent to upgrade the roster overall. Should we take a chance and cut guys like Refsnyder for talent in free agency or keep who we have?

"4. Logan Morrison, OF/1B, free agent — Morrison turned down a two-year, $20 million offer from the Indians, according to a major league source, before Cleveland signed Yonder Alonso. He may not get that good of an offer again. Morrison hit 38 homers for the Rays last year, but that kind of production could be an aberration."

On the subject of CarGo, his Home and Road Splits:

Home
2014: .336 / .376 / .569 (.945)
2015: .299 / .355 / .617 (.972)
2016: .320 / .375 / .591 (.966)
2017: .323 / .403 / .520 (.923)

Road
2014: .160 / .224 / .319 (.543)
2015: .243 / .294 / .464 (.758)
2016: .276 / .324 / .420 (.744)
2017: .203 / .274 / .332 (.606)

He's unsigned because he's 32, a shitty defender, and an average at best hitter away from Coors. If our outfield was loaded with RHH, I'd maaaybe have some interest but don't see the fit at all.

I don't understand how it's almost March and guys like Arrieta, Cobb, Morrison, Moose, Lynn, Lucroy, Duda, Walker, Jay, Holland, etc. are all just sitting out there.

Arrieta is a borderline Cy Young contender for cryin' out loud.
