2017-2018 off-season thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
if lebron thinks swapping love for melo is net positive i have to question his talent evaluation skills

actually i think it's already up for questioning

It's a fucking guy with 1000 twitter followers who writes for a website no one has heard of. Get a grip people. Odds are, and I'm not kidding, either OhioNation is his source, or he is, in fact, OhioNation.

Maybe if we were given up some throw ins to get Bledsoe or at the least Chandler back too but not straight up ...I would like to see Melo though...I think he can turn it up to another level with this team on the big stage

Considering his height disadvantage, Felder needs to be a good to great shooter. He is obviously no where close to that so I'm not sure why he is on our team team at this point. Maybe Gilbert trying to justify the expensive pick I guess.

On a positive note, there were some intriguing and athletic players on the roster. Tavares should be getting a heavy increase in minutes this upcoming season. Andrew White III is a polished shooter with some great length. Casey Prather is an athletic defensive player with who unlike Felder, can still be useful if his shot isn't falling. TJ Williams had a big jump production wise from two years ago to last year.

TJ Williams Stats:

2015-2016 -- 6.8/2.0/2.7 in 23.4 mpg
2016-2017 --21.4/4.7/5.3 in 38.2 mpg

CAA player of the year last year as well. He played 4 seasons at Northeastern so his "potential" might be limited but you never know.

Gtfo with that trade.

If we could somehow swing Kevin for both Melo and Bledsoe though..

Except what the fuck do we do with Eric Bledsoe. We've got 3 shooting guards on the team, all of them making well above vet minimum salaries.

Like, I understood the Bledsoe thing before, if we were also doing some kinda Kyrie for Paul George thingawhatever. But you bring in Bledsoe, and you've got someone making over 14 million dollars sitting on the bench. AND Iman Shumpert.

On this dudes Twitter page that is whom all the Knicks fans think they will get back...dude says no it will be a young player and picks...now they are hoping for Chriss...lmao

Its highly unlikely that guy is legitimate.

A few things to keep in mind that may hold value.

RJ & Channing are both veterans on expiring deals. Essentially paying the combined $10 mil for those two for one season vs paying Tyson Chandler $26 over 2.

Their presence does hold weight with a young team like the Suns if they choose to stay.

They are both UofA guys.

They both were rumored to retire. If that is the case, they could have chosen to not announce it so we could use them as salary in a trade. If they were to retire, it would just be more money needed to fill out the roster and would cripple us even further.

The trade below does work financially.

PHX gets Frye, RJ, Felder.
CLE gets Melo
NY gets Shump + either Chandler or Bledsoe.

More pieces would be needed if it was Bledsoe, but I cant help but think that they would even settle for Chandler and Shump at this point.

For Phoenix ,you are either getting expiring contracts, or Arizona guys who want to mentor in Pheonix for their last year. Neither scenario is too far out of the realm of possibility.

Bledsoe would come off the bench as our Ginobili.

Its one of those things where I would be mad at this for happening.

Not just because we need to add talent not subtract talent as well.

But more so because if you're going to make this move then you should have made it last year. That way we could know already if it would have mattered or not.

I think the team has given up on young talent too quickly in recent years. I would give Felder at least another whole regular season and summer league to show his worth. He got such limited minutes last year and add to that the Cavs don't practice, I'm not sure how any young player would make the jump to NBA level and speed.

Good for us that the two way contracts are now a thing. We can offer two of them up to White and whoever else shows promise. We can bring them up to practice and play random games to see their progress. A roster spot may come available during the season to sign them to the 15 man roster, no reason to do it now.

I think Trey Rodriguez is full of shit. But playing along with your scenario, lets say we pull off that trade. We then split the MLE to Cedi and Tony Allen. Then vet mins to Andrew Bogut and Jamal Crawford to fill out the roster (since we are back to having fun being unrealistic). I would feel pretty damn good about our chances with this roster going into the finals next year:

PG: Kyrie, Crawford, Calderon
SG: JR, Korver, Allen
SF: Lebron, Green, Cedi
PF: Melo, TT
C: Love, Bogut, Tavares
